70 Dollar A Week Grocery Budget What Are The Best Good Foods I Can Get By With

Need ideas for budget grocery list?

I am trying to find ways to cut expenses and this applies to groceries as well. I would very much appreciate suggestions for a grocery list for one person that not only takes into account budget, but also health. I am interested in healthy items, but stretching my dollar if I can. I am not the best at budget shopping and would appreciate any tips or suggestions.

I have a $50 per week food budget. How can I survive?

$50 for one person is plenty, but you have to cook all the meals at home. You should have enough money left over for beer or dessert.

First, use coupons. Why anyone pays full price is beyond me. Print your own coupons here-

Heck, my local Dollar General accepts coupons. Buy rice, noodles, dry beans, canned foods and pasta. Round out the list with fresh veggies, meat and dairy products.

Consider a "planned leftovers" scheme, similar to this:

Day 1: Meatloaf, rice and green beans
Day 2: Fried rice, using the leftover rice + stir fry veggies
Day 3: Pasta & red sauce, using crumbled meatloaf in the sauce
Day 4: Pinto beans & cornbread
Day 5: Chili, using leftover pinto beans
Day 6: Chili dogs, using leftover chili on the dogs
Day 7: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts

If you're living alone, freeze half of what you prepare. Nearly everything you see in the grocer's frozen food section can be frozen at home: casseroles, refried beans, waffles, meatballs, pasta dishes, pancakes, soups and chili all freeze and thaw nicely.

Here are some sites for cheap eats:

You don't have to live on ramen noodles or God forbid, Hamburger Helper, the nastiest thing foisted on consumers since Spam and those Lipton Onion Soup packets. With a little planning, you should be able to eat pretty darned well and stay within your budget.

How much does one week's worth of groceries cost for one person?

Depends on what you eat and how much work you're willing to put into preparing your own food.

I never buy prepared foods, and even frozens are at a minimum. Usually frozen vegetables only. My food spend is between $75 and $100/week to feed three people and two dogs. I add the dogs because their food is part of the budget. They gotta eat too! Don't forget to budget in your cleaning supplies, soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, foil and wax papers, plastic wrap, toilet paper, napkins, etc.

Take a mental walk through the grocery store and think of things you use on a daily basis. Including salt & pepper.

Good luck, it can be tough but totally possible!

Moms can you help me with a $20 grocery list?

I'd be putting all of that back, you need things that will stretch! Go for oats, you don't need milk with them and they're more filling. Cheese is expensive, no idea how much it is where you are but here that would be half your budget gone! Don't get juice or water, you can get water from a tap and juice is really a luxury item. Try making soup instead of buying it, a can of soup will last one meal, make your own and it will last longer, check out the sale meat as long as you cook it that day it'll be fine, get something cheap and make it into a soup or stew, you don't say what you have at home but you should be able to get some carrots and greens cheap, get rice, you can add rice to lots of meals and it's filling. Also get bread, bread is cheap and sandwiches go over well.

How can i make 50 dollars last for 2 weeks?

is it realistic to stretch 50 dollars over the course of the next 14 days? Im kind of in a tight spot right now and I dont want to withdraw money from my savings or use my credit cards to carry me over so I put them (my credit cards) and my debt card into a cup of water and froze them in the freezer... but can I really only spend 3.57 per day for the next 14 days? I already have my train fare for work and I have 4 boxes of cereal and since milk is free at work what do I really need to spend money on? But I feel scared... I dont get paid again until the 15th

Anyone elses husband really suck at grocery shopping?

This is about the 4th Friday in a row my husband has spent $60 at the grocery store on a day and a half's worth of food. W.T.F. I don't know how he does it, I don't think I could grocery budget so badly if I TRIED.

BQ: How much do you spend per week on groceries and how big is your family?
It's just him, me and our 16 month old and *I* can get a weeks worth of GOOD meals for $50. I usually spend about $70 though which includes diapers and home supplies.
