Will my puppy forget me when i travel

Will my dog forget me when I go to college?

Well I've only had that experience with cats and they do forget me but they remember later on which is great.
I had a dog couple of years ago and went to mexico for a month and a half and she remembered me fine but my mom told me she was very sad all the time since we have such a great bond that she slept with me every night.
What I would do is leave a pic of yourself in your room so your dog can see it and maybe when you chat with your family online, get a webcam and let your dog see you on it. That would make him feel great! Or when your on the phone, let the person on the other line put the phone next to your dog's ear so he can hear your voice.
Just try to communicate with your dog as much as possible and I'm pretty sure he won't forget you but try to make him as happy as possible.
Hope I helped! =)

Will my puppy forget me when i travel?

Dogs do NOT "love" as in the human sense of the word, they RESPECT and become attached to who they view as a strong leader.
Your dog will probably recognise you after 5 months but it`s impossible to predict if he will still view you as his leader, as it all depends on how your parents interact with the dog and how the dog views them.
At 9 months the dog is still considered a puppy and is very impressionable at this age and needs lots of training to mature into a nice mannered adult dog.
If your parents spend some training the dog, a strong bond may form between the dog and trainer which may be permanent, and the person the dog gives his allegiance to.
But as Lorraine says, if the dog receives no training at this age he may not turn out to be the same dog you left behind and be bad mannered and disobedient.
This issue is not something that anyone can 100% solve for you
Dogs tend to live in the moment and also they CAN switch their allegience from one owner to another if they view "another", as a "stronger leader". Dogs are NOT as loyal as some people seem to think when it comes to their own advantages.
Hope this helps you a bit at least.

Will my dog forget me when i go on holiday?

I know this sounds crazy, but whenever we've had to leave the dogs for any length of time, we actually explain things to them. We tell them it's just going to be for a little while and that we'll be back for them soon. The one time I didn't do that, I swear they were mad at us for 3 days. I truly believe they understand.

We leave an old shirt or blanket that has our scent on it, plus one of their toys from home that they love.

When we come home, they just about knock us over with their tails! Then, they come home and sleep for almost 24 hours. They had a "vacation" too, and most likely didn't get much sleep from being around other dogs with different scents and all that barking!! Then after that, it's back at their same exact routine, as if we were never apart - with the only exception being that they stay a little bit closer to us for about a week after our return.

We are leaving them next week for a week at a new kennel that gives lots of love and treats!! Have fun on your holiday, and don't worry - he'll be fine. Give him extra love when you get home!

Will My Dog Remember Me After A 2 and 1/2 week vacation?

I am sure that he will remember you. I believe that all that everyone has said on here so far is true. The other thing that I will add is that a dog's sense of smell is keen and that is one of the important ways that they remember people, other dogs, etc.
As far as training. I think it depends on the dog. He may need a little bit of a refresher. When I went out of town for a week and came back my dog needed some refreshing on potty training HOWEVER that is probably a different situation than yours. I adopted my dog from a shelter and I think my being gone aggravated some of his personal issues.
Don't get scared by my Dog's story! I am sure that your dog will be fine and we be very happy to see you when you get back from vacation - so have a good one!

Will my dog forget me?

I've had twelve dogs in my life, and all were as devoted to me as people are to their gods.

I had to leave two for extended periods, one when I went off to college and the other when I moved out of state for a year. When I returned, the reunions were joyous.

If you're really concerned about it, though, here's a handy tip I learned from my grandfather when I was very young. We'd gone hunting, and one of his dogs wandered off and got lost. We waited around until it was getting dark and we had to leave. I became very upset at the thought of that poor dog returning and thinking we'd abandoned her. Before we left, though, my grandfather spread his hunting jacket out on the ground at the edge of the field and assured me that the dog would be safe.

The next morning, I went back with my grandfather and the dog was curled up on his jacket. She knew, when she smelled his scent on the jacket that he'd be back, so she just caught a nap and waited.

Wear an old shirt the day before you leave. Give it to your friend and tell him to let your dog sleep on it at night. She'll remember you.

Will My Puppy Forget Me?

I left my dogs boarded for 10 days and they were happy when I got back but also they were unhappy with me as well....my Jack russell mix wanted nothing to do with me for 3 days after I picked her up and got her home and my poodle it only took a day.....he may be a little upset but he will get over it real quick.....since you are leaving him with relatives there shouldn't be as many issues....whenever we leave our dogs with relatives they come home happy as can be....

Good luck and I'm sure you will have a good trip and your dog will have fun visiting relatives....

I promise he won't forget you

Will my dog fret for me when i go on holiday :(?

If your dog is attached to you like you are to her, she will definitely fret, but in a good way. She will just miss you. If she hasn't been away from you for long periods of time, she may not eat much the first couple of days, and might sulk a little. Or she may not. Every dog is different. Dogs easily, and she will go crazy when she sees you. So get prepared for many kisses from her. :) Hope this helps. I have two dogs of my own and have grown up with over a dozen throughout my life. It breaks my heart leaving to get groceries and run errands and seeing their puppy eyes staring at me through the window. So, I totally know how you feel!

Will my cat forget me when i go away to college?

I am planning on going to live at college in the spring and i am really close to my cat. i recently had another cat that i had gave away that was close to my cat and it doesn't seem to bother my cat that the other cat is gone. when i go to college, i wont be back to my house for about three months, so im wondering if my cat will forget who i am in the process since he wont be seeing me for three months. i would hate to come back and have my cat not remember me.

Will my puppy remember me..?

No hunny, he won't forget you. You've spent A LOT of time with him and you two have bonded wonderfully. Put it this way, dogs that age are as smart as a 4 year old. If you had a 4 year old son do you think he would forget you if you didn't see him for 2 weeks? No way, especially a border collie! I have a BC and they are sharp. He may have to get back into his everyday routine with you when you get back but he will NOT forget the things you've taught him either. I left my BC with a sitter for a week last August and she fell right back into routine when I got home with her, no problems. I PROMISE you that he won't forget you. Not even a chance of it.
