Academic Suspension From Community College

Academic suspension in community college?

Academic Probation in Law School.

Don't sweat it. The way to get out of the hole is to get that GPA up. If you get tossed (I might, and I am not too overly concerned about it now), you have the opportunity to get the GPA up later on.

When you do, now or later, just focus on the courses better - meaning take fewer courses - or easier ones! -- or better yet -- both!

Don;t fret the time delay... I earned my Associate's Degree in 1986 and did not get to go back to finish the Bachelor's Degree until 2001 - completed in 2003.

It is not the end of the world - it is an opportunity to back off, re-evaluate and apply the lessons you learned... it will make you better down the road... and it stinks now... you will indeed get over it.

I will indeed get past my Academic Probation in law school as well!

Best wishes for much success, always!

I am on academic suspension at a college, can I attend another college and receive financial aid?

Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP) policies are specific to the school and the program you are in. Technically speaking, your suspension cannot follow you to another school because the SAP policies at your last school may not be the same as those at your new school. However, your new school may require you to meet their own SAP standards, and your previous work may count toward that, so practically speaking your suspension may very well affect you. ( Note: if you withdrew from classes and your aid was returned so you now owe your former college a balance, they will most likely not release your transcript until the balance is paid, so that can have a very definite affect on whether or not you can receive aid at the next college.)

There are lots of "ifs", "buts" and "mays" that can affect a particular situation, but in general:

If you are starting a completely new program and not transferring any credits, your previous suspension may not affect you.

If you are changing majors, and your are transferring credits that will be applied to the new major, your new school may choose to only include work that applies to the new major.

If you are continuing with the same program/major, most schools will include all of your previous work, including attempted credits that you did not complete.

Since the SAP standards at the two schools may be different, it's possible that your work will meet the standards at the new school. It's also possible that it won't.

Many schools have a process for appealing financial aid suspension. If you had a good reason for not meeting the standards, you might be able to appeal the ruling and have your aid restored for a semester while you work to improve your performance.

Calling the feds will most likely result in their referring you back to the to school, because each school sets and enforces its own policies. Your best bet would be to make an appointment at your new school to discuss your situation.

Can I go to another community college if I was suspended from my current one?

I was jsut suspended from my current community college for academic reasons and not meeting the requirements after being put on academic probation. I know I messed up and am ready to fix my mistake, but I dont want to wait until Spring semester '09 which is when I can take classes again. So can I go to another community college, and will they even accept me? Also, is going to anotehr college without sending my transcript a good idea or should I jsut come clean with my suspension.

How to get off Academic Probation at a Community College?

I am a freshman at Grand Rapids Community College. At the beginning of the school year, I went to class and did all my homework, essays, etc. I lived on my own so I had no one telling me what I can or can't do. In the middle of the semester, I stopped going to class because I thought I had a severe STD. I went to the doctor and everything and he said it could've been herpes but I would have to wait for test results. I was so depressed and in pain. I did not leave the house once... So then after that, I just didn't go to school. ****** up my first semester, failed all my classes and didn't get any credits. I was then placed on Academic probation. So then the doctor told me it wasn't herpes. I was relieved but at the same time angry because I ****** up school. 2nd semester came by, I told myself that I'm gonna get my **** back together and finish school otherwise I'd be placed on academic suspension.. I went to a few of my classes, some of em were too early so I was lazy and couldn't wake up. I lived about 20 minutes from the CC so I didn't feel motivated to drive or go... I dropped some of my classes down to 4 and then recently found out that I am pregnant. So I dropped another class. And now I'm down to 2 classes. One of my class just started a week ago so I could be able to do good in em. But what I was wondering was, if I was placed on academic probation here or suspension.. Could I still be able to enroll at a different community college? Can someone help me get out of this situation? I'm seriously stressed out! I read some info and it said I will be placed on GRCC's academic probation/suspension so I'm not sure if I can go to another school because I might be moving..

Placed on academic suspension.. Should I quit college, write appeal, or go to community college??

I'm currently a junior and only have 9 classes left in college. But it's been tough, this year has been the worst for me in school and personally. I transferred to an university from community college and had a rough start, which put me on academic warning for college. My gpa was really low, I brought it up but not enough to take myself off of academic probation. Now I'm facing suspension and don't know what to do or tell my parents. I have anxiety issues, death in family which caused me to miss days of school, and issues within my family. Not sure what to do???

Does academic suspension transfer from college to college?

The academic suspension will be recorded on your official transcript required by the other school. It may affect your ability to be admitted but if any of the grades you earned in your previous credits were within the minimum required, they will be evaluated for transfer. The suspension itself doesn't transfer; that is an academic action enforced only by your current school.

Most schools don't accept D or F grades, some don't accept C-. Check with the admission office. The school where you want to transfer will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to transfer.

Work hard and try not to make the same decisions that led to your suspension at the first CC. Talk to your teachers and adviser as soon as you don't understand what to do.

You can do it. Good luck

Academic Suspension. College Help Please.?

I go to Bergen Community College in New Jersey, and i've had a rough start. Its been 3 semesters already. The first semester i had a GPA of 1.250 and i was placed on Academic Probation. The second semester i had a GPA of 1.385 and was placed on Academic Suspension. However, i applied for a reinstatement and went back without missing a semester or anything. Now, this third semester i did a lot a better and got a GPA of 2.462. Unfortunately because of my first two semesters my cumulative GPA 1.668. Are they going to dismiss me? Please tell me what is going to happen.I am extremely worried, and please no rude, or mean comments.Thank you.

What does academic suspension mean?

Wow, did you screw up!

Usually, if you have a couple bad grades, you are placed on academic probation. You then have ONE semester to get your GPA up to a certain level. Failure to make progress towards that goal results in academic suspension or being kicked out.

Now, if you did so poorly that they believe you cannot get your GPA up, they may skip pro and go right to Suspension. The other way to immediately go to Suspension is to have charges of academic dishonesty proved against you. (Did you copy your term paper from the internet? Refer to errors on Wikipedia as fact?)

You should have received terms regarding your suspension. Is it for one year or for life? Is there an appeals process at your school? Read them carefully, and if you did not receive any, you need to talk to the office that notified you of your academic suspension. Silver lining of the situation: you are now free to attend a community college to retake the classes you have failed at a greatly reduced rate.

First academic suspension. What to do now?

If you really want to try to finish a college degree, go to community college next. They take just about everyone. If you can do well there for a few semesters (or years) you can try transferring to a 4-year school (I recommend not the school you were at; if you go back there you're stuck with your poor GPA, but anywhere else you get to start over). But there's no point in going to college, even community college, if you're not going to take it seriously - do your work, attend classes, and study, or don't waste your money.
