Ads When I Open Windows

Keep hearing ads with no windows open on my computer?

This procedure has succeeded for others here who've complained of background noises/voices/music.

Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.

Now open your browser and download TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It's tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits.

Regardless of the results, download and run Dr. Web CureIt! (still in Safe Mode):

http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit...

Now download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it and get updates, then run a full scan:

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and Dr. Web CureIt!, as updated versions are often made available. MBAM can be easily uninstalled, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

Hope this helps.

How do I stop pop-ups in my Windows phone?

Given your reply you are definitely in one of two scenarios:1). One or more sites you visit regularly either are very aggressively spamming you with ads OR they are using an ad network that has been compromised. I would stop visiting that/those site(s) at all and I would contact them to let them know about the problem... Because they might not and you obviously want to visit that/those site(s).2). (This is the most probable scenario) You have malware infecting your Phone. If you want to help the Windows Phone community, I would download whatever Virus Scanner app is available that you want to use and use it to scan your phone. Hopefully it will detect the malware. If it does, let the app report the detection. Regardless whether it successfully detects or if you want to help, the next step is to factory reset your phone. That's going to be the only way to be sure you've actually removed the entire infection.A factory reset completely overwrites your volatile phone storage (including the OS) from a non-volatile image. That image will be of either the factory install (if no updates have occurred) or whatever the last version you updated to.Sucks, but it's the only way to be sure.Of course you'll want to backup any documents, photos and video to OneDrive before you begin. If you have an SD card installed you should also remove it and scan it using your computer before you do the reset.

Windows internet explorer keeps popping up with ads whenever I open a new page. How can I stop it?

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/ax7Tn

What I did to solve that "pop up" problem (not ads or unwanted web sites but reopening tabs or windows already in use) was to use 'SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edtion' and run the full check (the short check didn't catch the problem and Norton Anti-virus didn't either.) It had me restart and now all is ok. There may be other products, that was just the one I happened upon by recomendation from a person at our helpdesk (this is a work PC). It had first happened in my Chrome Browser (*see below) and then noticed it was also happening in IE. I had picked up virus problems when using the latest Firefox (I've used Firefox for many years and I never had a virus before that update) but had uninstalled just to sort out problems and is why I was trying Chrome. * It would open whatever I had as 'home,' over and over. I even tried the main chrome page as home. It would open a new window about every 30 seconds. I thought it was Chrome and uninstalled. But then, when I opened IE 8, I saw it did something similar: Whenever I tried to search or use an URL, it would duplicate all open tabs and kept doing that so quickly, I couldn't type anything.

Sound Ads keep playing on my computer, but no window or anything?

You can disable sounds from webpages by going to Tools, Internet Options. Click the advanced tab and under the Multimedia section you can uncheck the box that says, "Play sounds in web pages".

Hope this is of help.

How do I block ads on Microsoft Windows Store Apps?

Thanks for A2A, but I am a developer, and though I hate current craziness where apps are free, developers get next to no money as they need to have user base they can't have to earn from ads, and consumers get ads they hate too (and I don't take part in this), I still feel sorry for those developers and I'll just tell you that your request is very unethical.

How do I stop websites from opening additional tabs and windows (not popups) in my browser?

I’d recommend Firefox as it has multiple defenses against sites popping up new windows.Use the firefox setting to block pop-ups windows.Firefox->Edit->Preferences->”Block pop-up windows”You can block pop-ups of any kind (including new windows) by typing “about:config” in the address window. Look for “dom.popup_allowed_events” and restrict the events that can cause popups. By default, that is set to: “change click dblclick mouseup pointerup notificationclick reset submit touchend”. Remove some, or all of these events. These new tabs and windows are often opened by ads. You can use ad blockers to block these unwelcome elements. Try Ghostery, uBlock Origin, and Adblock Plus. Be careful with free browser extensions. Some of them are harmful. As a last resort, you can disable Javascript itself. New windows are usually opened with the Javascript Window.open() command. You can disable javascript in Firefox. Type: “about:config” in the address bar. Then, toggle javascript.enabled to false. Of course, disabling javascript my remove features you desire in the web page.

How can I stop chrome from auto-opening unwanted ad windows?

It depends on what ad windows you are getting. Some you have subscribed to when you viewed a video, or downloaded some software, or even viewed some products and agreed to receive those ads. If it is absolutely unwanted, and you have never authorized them, you might have a worm, virus, or something running on the computer or as an addon to Chrome.Method 1: Got to Settings on the upper right side (3 vertical dots); click on More Tools from the drop-down menu; choose Extensions. Once there, examine the addons/extensions you have downloaded and enable or disable the ones you do not need. Also, make sure your home page/start page is as you want it to be, and not some search site. If it all fails, download the free Superantispyware from superantispyware.com, install it, and run it to remove all the cached stuff. Clear the browsing data from Settings. If it continues to misbehave, go to Settings on upper right hand side, choose Settings from the drop-down menu, choose Settings again only now it is a button on the upper left side (3 horizontal lines or hamburger button), check your search engine and change to your liking. If it is already set to your liking, but it still continues to misbehave, choose Advanced from the hidden drop-down menu and choose Reset. If it all fails, use Windows antivirus and make it scan the computer thoroughly (takes the whole night). You might also install another antivirus such as Avast (avast.com) or another of your choice and run it. Just make sure that your computer has one antivirus running at all times.Method 2 (drastic): Use another browser like Mozilla Firefox or Edge. There are others, but they are trolls and not complete.Method 2 (more drastic): restore your computer to the settings of the day it started to misbehave: 1. Right-click on the Start button, choose run. From the run window type “rstrui” (without the quotation marks). The system could be restored to an earlier time when everything was running fine.Method 3 (very drastic): Reset the computer and leave your files. This will require that you back up your data and re-install all programs afterwards. It is really the last resort.Good luck.

Do not allow sites to access my camera and microphone.
(You decide if this is needed for some feature)

* Only if you have the following plug-in's:
►"AdBlock Plus" (might need 'subscription' added after install).

►"ScriptSafe" stops all kinds of nasties and should be used by everyone. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...

② Read carefully what this feature does because it has convoluted implications. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Intents

My Internet Explorer keeps opening on its own to random ad sites.?

Just because spybot and adaware didn't find anything does not mean that you are clean. Try booting in safe mode (press F8 during boot) and then run the spybot/adaware.

You could also check the homepage that is defined for IE (tools-internet options) and check the homepage listed. Change it if it's not something normal.

Check your startup of windows. Maybe something is loading the process for IE during startup. (start-run-msconfig) look at the startup tab and see what's in there.
