Does the 1997 Jeep Wrangler have an alternator fuse or relay?
My Jeep dropped down to 12 volts on the dash gauge, then down to basically zero - like my alternator stopped working - I replaced the alternator, and it is still only on 12 volts not the usual 14 - 15...I made sure all was hooked up, and the belt is more or less tight - I need to look at the battery terminals and since they are real loose - I am going to replace them tomorrow - Thanks
WHAT IS THE COST OF A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT ALTERNATOR?
We are having to get the alternator replaced in our 2009 Jeep Patriot. The dealership is saying it's going to cost $900. I've seen it a lot cheaper online. Is this about right? It's a 2.4...
My 95 wrangler wont start. alternator, battery and starter are all good. i can pop the clutch. cant jump start
Having had a '95 YJ myself, check your battery cables. Mine had started to corrode within the plastic housing. Check your battery terminals for cracks, the lead tends to break down. Pop your fuse box cover, check your relay breaker and the other fuses. Don't forget to check the wires/cables leading to and coming from the fuse box for corrosion. The above listed conditions are from my personal experience with my own '95 YJ. I hope this helps.
Where is my voltage regulater in my 95 jeep wrangler?
It's controlled by the PCM "Power train Control Module". It controls your timing "ignition and fuel injectors", shifting "if automatic, charging, etc. The PCM controls the field to the alternator thus increasing or decreasing it's out put voltage. Try cleaning the plug to the PCM any moisture or dirt in it will make go nuts, it's mounted behind the air filter box on an XJ and on the fire wall passenger side in a Wrangler. If you want open it up and take a look at it, you won't damage it it's not a sealed box. If the sealant over the board is all split and cracked up it time for a new one. If you don't your Jeep will do some voodoo freaky stuff while you are driving, I know it's happened to me.

its your alternator i ran into the same problem with my jeep. i went through some mud and it messed it all up. i got the check engine light, the gauge was lower all that stuff. i still had an extended warranty so i took it in and they checked it and replaced the alternator and now its all good. also your battery will still charge up but not as good with the broken alternator the gauge doesnt neccassarily tell you how charged your battery is it tells you how much your alternator is putting out. so if you have an extended warranty id go and have jeep replace it cuz the alternator they use is very good and expensive if you want to put in the same one or you can go to kragen or autozone or where ever and get a cheaper one that will work.

Not immediately. Generally when a battery light comes on, it is an indication that there is a problem in the vehicle's charging system. I would first have the alternator or generator checked, then move on to other components. The Jeep should be under warranty, so none of this should cost you anything. Since this is intermittent, it is most likely a loose wire or connection.
