How much do you make with a degree in criminal justice??

There is no such job as criminal justice. You need to have a goal career in mind to check on pay scale.

**ADDITION**

There are a lot of different types of investigators. They have AG investigators, DA investigators, police investigators, sheriff's deputy investigators, private investigators, and more.

Another factor in the realm of money is the area you are in. Pay is absolutely based on the cost of living in your area. A large city California investigator would make three times or more what a rural southern US investigator would make simply based on the cost of living and median wage.

But, generally speaking, an investigator is not going to be "wealthy" on his pay alone but can live comfortably.

Also, keep in mind that an investigator in basic law enforcement (city/county) do not maintain that job 100% of the time. Most have to move back and forth to other units in the department like patrol and others.

I am 48 years old seeking a criminal justice degree. I am also a convicted felon. How can I become a behind the scenes legal advisor?

Write a book about your criminal background, how you first committed a crime, how you were drawn into it, how you dealt with being convicted, how you became an advocate for people who find themselves in the system. If you haven’t read Frank Abagnale’s memoir, Catch Me If You Can, you should. Abagnale spent time in prison in three countries for forgery and other very creative criminal acts. He is today a preeminent advisor to law enforcement regarding how checks, credit cards and other financial transfers are accessed by criminals. He’s written two other books more directly detailing criminality and how to avoid being victimized that are well worth reading too. Never mind the movie, by the way, read the book. The movie skips a lot of significant detail. After you’ve written the book send it to publishers or publish it yourself on Amazon Kindle, then go to John Jay College of Criminal Justice or similar schools and apply for admission noting your book and the fact that you are determined to turn you life around and help others who find themselves in similar situations. It may take some pertinacity on your part but you will succeed at this. Anybody can always be good and do the right thing. Such people’s advice is nearly useless to those who find themselves in conflict. You know how the wrong things happen and can actually do some good. Best of luck.Frank Abagnale - Wikipedia

Colleges that have forensic science on the east coast?

so a methods as i comprehend (0.33 three hundred and sixty 5 days undergrad), there is not any longer a substantial dedicated to that. If I have been you, i might the two choose a physics or biology substantial (you could take forensic classes in that substantial) with a minor in criminal Justice or Criminology/Psychology. Or opposite the substantial and the minor. in case you bypass that path, i might advise looking up colleges that have very stable organic technology classes, which interior the East Coast is abundant.

Private investigator in california?

It depends on where you want to work. States have different requirements. There are different types of private investigators. Some are general investigators. If you want to know how to become a private investigator, consider what type of investigations you might want to conduct. Corporate investigators typically need a 4 year degree. Coursework in finance, accounting, and business is often preferred. Because many financial investigators have an accountant’s background, they typically have a 4 year degree in accounting or a related field. Many computer forensics investigators need a 4 year degree in a field such as computer science or criminal justice. Many colleges and universities now offer certificate programs and degrees in computer forensics. Because computer forensics specialists need both computer skills and investigative skills, extensive training may be required if you want to become a private investigator of this type. Many computer forensic investigators learn their trade while working for a law enforcement agency, where they are taught how to gather evidence and to spot computer-related crimes. Many people enter law enforcement to get this training and to establish a reputation before moving on to the private sector. If you become a law enforcement officer, you will already understand how to become a private investigator. Because they work with changing technologies, computer forensic investigators never stop training. They must learn the latest methods of fraud detection and new software programs and operating systems by attending conferences and courses offered by software vendors and professional associations. The general requirements for a Private Investigator in CA are:
*Be at least 18 years old.
*Three years of compensated experience totaling not less than 6,000 hours in investigative work while employed by law enforcement agencies, collection agencies, insurance agencies, banks, courts, and other private investigation agencies, etc.
*A college degree in criminal law, criminal justice or police science can be substituted for part of the experience.
*Pass a written exam.
*Undergo a criminal history review.

How much does it cost to attend a police academy?

Sometimes. If you are joining a PD for the first time and are hired in they send you to the academy and generally pay you to attend. There are other forms of academies as well. Small towns dont have an academy so a central academy where small places sponsor you but you have to pay for it. Then theres academy via college. You leave with an associates degree or higher in law enforcement and just have to attend some familiarization to got to work. There are various ways to pay for the college the same as any other degree.

Was the sentencing of a Californian man for 1503 years too excessive?

Excessive based on what, the nature of the crime or the fact that he will never live long enough to actually complete his sentence? If in asking this you are attempting to reaffirm some belief you hold that the sentence was disproportionate to the offense, well, you were not the victim, so you don't get to decide whether or not the crime was bad enough to warrant such a long sentence. If you're simply asking if the length of the sentence is absurd relative to how long the man will actually be alive to serve it, well maybe. But it doesn't matter anyway, because he won't be serving the vast majority of his sentence at all. Death will free him long before the California Department of Corrections will, which was the judge's point in handing down such a ridiculously long sentence in the first place. You see, judges make decisions that have a direct impact on their community. If a man rapes his daughter and is allowed to walk free, and another man with a similar idea reads this in the newspaper, he will most likely go home and act on his urge to rape his daughter like the other man did, because he has just been given proof that he will suffer no consequences for doing so.The man who was sentenced to over 1,000 years in prison served as an example which sent another message to would-be rapists: If you commit rape in the state of California, you will die in prison and your lifeless remains will have long since decayed down to dust by the time your release date is upon you. The day will come and go, but you will never see it, and you will never be free.In spite of this, people will still rape other people. There is no one solution to such a thing. Obviously, there isn't really a way to collect any sort of data on the number of rapes it prevents, because who is going to come forward and volunteer that information? “Yeah, I was going to rape my co-worker, but then I saw the paper and I changed my mind because I don't want to die in jail.” Nobody is going to do that. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work on anyone.

Do you need to go to college before becoming a police officer?

No. Many depts will hire at 18. you would be able to as properly stick to to NYPD academy at 18, yet they are able to't hire you until you're 21. i'd decide for the degree. you may get a scholarship; with the C/G, you're taking a gamble on your accountability. The miltary does not assure any project. the two is ultimate. you will have a lot of opposition at present. The greater arrows on your quiver, the greater suitable. EDIT: purely distant places language that would desire to make any distinction is Spanish; or French, in case you paintings in Louisiana or close to Quebec.

Is Chico State a diverse school?

This is a difficult question as diverse to you might look different than what I consider diverse.Chico State is in the middle of rural Northern California which tends to have a community that is slanted towards a heavy white population. With that being said, I never once felt discriminated against while I was attending Chico State. The town of Chico is dominated by its student population and you will find a little bit of everything. I met buddies from my hometown (OC), the bay area, the edges of California, Germany, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa. The school does everything in its’ power to increase and celebrate diversity and inclusion. On any given week of the school year, you can find different events being put on by many of the school sponsored clubs for people of different backgrounds. There are also additional graduation ceremonies to recognize minorities receiving their degree. I did not participate in the Latino one as I wanted to walk and celebrate with my buddies. The school also boasts one of the most active abroad programs so you will find a small army of students from Europe, South America, and the Middle East. The campus is something like 53–54 percent female. There is also strong support of the LGBT community. From what I remember walking the campus, the school itself is about 50 percent white, 30 percent latino, 10 percent asian, 5 percent black and 15 everything else.So overall, I would say that yes, Chico State is a diverse campus. However, if you are one to stick to one ethnic group and are not open to mingling and seeking new friends, then you might find yourself in a not so diverse environment.
