What movie had the first interracial kiss?

I can't find a specific reference for this, but it might be "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner."

The first interracial kiss on television was between Capt. Kirk and Lt. Uhura on Star Trek.

Edit:

I found some more information. Don't know about the accuracy.

"Postwar liberalism led to even more change, as dramas directly addressing issues such as race and power emerged from the studios in films like Intruder in the Dust (1949), Home of the Brave (1949), and Pinky (1949). By the 1950s, the "separate cinema" had ended, and African Americans no longer had creative control over their images. Hollywood had sought and highlighted black talent in front of the camera, but continued exclusionary policies in the unions and administrative offices. Social change brought by the civil rights movement saw changes at the box office, as the first group of African American movie stars emerged in the 1950s. Prominent among them were Sidney Poitier (b. 1927), the first black superstar; Harry Belafonte (b. 1927), the first African American male sex symbol; and Dorothy Dandridge (1922–1965), the first African American screen siren. Though in hindsight their films are somewhat problematic, the roles performed by these three talents brought new images to the screen, often challenging society's precepts about race and "proper" social roles. Island in the Sun (Robert Rossen, 1957), for example, contains what has been identified as the first real interracial kiss in a Hollywood film (previous films usually involved two white performers, with one in blackface). In the film, a political scandal erupts when a family in the West Indies is found to have "mixed blood." The situation is further complicated by the presence of two interracial romantic couples: one played by Dorothy Dandridge and John Justin, and the other played by Harry Belafonte and Joan Fontaine. Of course, the times would dictate that the kiss occur between the former couple, not the latter. Hollywood may have been transgressive with this film, but it would not go so far as to have an African American man kiss a white woman."

Can hanging around interracial relationships challenge your beliefs on race?

Definitely. All my life I’ve been surrounded by people of different race, as Malaysia is one big melting pot. Hence I went to school and befriend people of various race and ethnicity and religion from a very young age.I grew up seeing my friends of different race dating one another; Malay-Chinese, Indian-Malay, Chinese-Indian. Interracial marriage is not uncommon here either. In fact, I myself come from a mixed family of different race and beliefs so I was raised having been taught to respect and view everyone as equally as possible. It’s understandable that not everyone is lucky enough to be exposed with different cultures while growing up, but it’s also important that we shouldn’t all remain close-minded towards the others. Remain open and be receptive, you’ll learn so much more than what has been stereotyped by the media or brought by those with prejudiced mindset. As for relationships, I believe that as long as the person is not harming or threatening you and your loved ones; I don’t see why race should be an issue. Every individual is different, regardless of their race or beliefs.

Interracial Dating and Relationships: Do black men like white women?

Some do, some don't. Some black guys I've dated in my school days seemed to be more interested in dating a white girl for a status thing and some black guys I've been highly attracted to weren't at all interested in being seen with me as they distrusted my motives and felt that openly dating me would be detrimental to their family. I have felt used and manipulated before, embraced while alone then shunned when in the company of friends. But I've also been in some amazing and loving relationships where I was embraced by the whole family. I think black men crave being treated as men. Thats really all they want in this world. I think black women sometimes fall in a trap of being too judgemental to black men, simply because they only want the best for their man. Black women are getting a hard time for being strong and for trying to lift up when white women are perceived as being more supportive of black men but in reality are just more submissive. I recognize that trait in myself for sure. When you treat men like men they mostly respond in miraculous ways. And there's nothing sexier on this planet than a confident and intelligent black man who is proud of himself, his family, his culture, and his woman. I love black men so I genuinely hope they continue to love white women but they should be more open-minded about dating strong black women too as well as Asians or Latina's or any woman who genuinely appreciates the essence of his particular brand of manhood and his culture.

Why does the white guy in every commercial lose at the expense of the black guy?

Every commercial on TV seems to have a goofy white guy doing something stupid while the cool black guy gets the better of him. Sometimes it's subtle, but it always happens. Examples:

A white guy runs into a car while chasing a football thrown by a laughing black man.

A white guy looks for a cell phone in a hardware store and is given a reality check by a black woman worker.

A white manager stands over a woman in a small office trying to download information over the internet while the black guy says he needs to get rid of the dial-up connection. The white guy makes an idiot of himself extolling the virtues of dial-up while the information takes forever to download.

A white guy throws a football back and forth with his black business parter talking about internet connection speed. He, too, tries to cheaply rallly for dial-up. He then greedily tries to get his name first in the partnership.

How about all the ads with goofy white guys dancing?

Why all the white guilt?

Why does it seem like the Asian community WORSHIP WHITE PEOPLE?

It actually goes both ways. TONS of White people are obsessed with Asian culture (especially Japan). BTW, light skin was seen as desirable in Japan (and other parts of North-East Asia) long before contact with European/White people.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a traditional family? ?

the traditional family is advantageous for the kids.

Studies have shown that the most "nutritious" environment for raising kids is a mother and father, - and having dinner together. Do that, - and kids have a lesser risk for all the detrimental things that happen to other kids. Out-of-wedlock births, suicide, not going to college, alcoholism, and other counter-productive things.

Now, we're all for shooting for the best scenario for doing right by our kids. And that sometimes may not happen. But I'm really, really against those people that shoot low, and end up even lower. These people advocate that women (only) need to raise kids, - and that a same-sex couple can emulate the 'optimum' scenario.
