Are My Contacts Still Safe To Wear

Is it safe to wear expired contacts?

What REALLY happens when you wear contact lenses longer than recommended?

Best Case
Your contacts will will get coated with germs and protein, your eyes will get red and irritated, and you'll have to wear glasses until your eyes feel better.
 Worst Case
You'll develop an infectious corneal ulcer that may lead to scar tissue which can lead to vision loss, and even blindness. Symptoms of an infectious corneal ulcer include squinting, redness, pain, tearing, and small pupil size.

Cleaning and disinfecting disposable contacts won't make a difference. After you've worn them for the recommended time period, they're done.

Is it safe for me to wear contacts if the stye in my eye is almost gone?

my left eyelid is just a bit puffy and purple, it isn't noticeable unless you stare into both of my eyes. I've used medication (not prescription though) for about a couple days, it doesn't hurt or sting anymore, its just a tad bit itchy. If I wear contacts will the infection happen again, like spread around? (no eyemakeup will be used until a week after the stye has completely cleared up, just to be safe).

Is it safe to wear contacts in the waterpark?

If possible try and get some of the one-day throw-away contacts for the water park (or maybe try swimming goggles over your regular contacts). I know somebody who works for the health dept and they are always having to shut these places down because of all the spraying etc, the chlorine doesn't stay in the water very long so, the colliform counts are so high, its like "primordeal soup", litterally teeming with life! You can get some very nasty eye infections using contacts in contaminated water.

Are my contacts still safe to wear after developing a stye?

I had a stye in my right eye for like 2-3 days now, so I stopped wearing my contacts untill it heals. However, when it heals, is it safe to use that same pair of contacts again? Or do I have to throw them away and open a new pair.
(I just opened this pair of contacts only 3 days ago, and I use clear care contact solution which cleans the lenses with hydrogen peroxide which neutralizes with a piece of metal in the bottom of the case to clean the lenses)

thx!

Are My Contact Lenses Still Safe To Use?

Last October (2012) I got some Halloween contact lenses, they're all white, and you can only see the pupil. I only wore them once in a while because I need glasses to see! So white-out contact lenses plus glasses equals looking stupid lol.

Well today I put them on because I wanted to wear my Santa hat and make it look scary-ish, so I put a ton of smeared eyeliner, and then I added fake blood as if I was crying tears of blood. After I took some pictures, I quickly washed off the blood because it stains skin pretty fast.

(I wore my contacts to school on Halloween 2012, and after school I added bloody tears, then when I took off the blood, it stained my face, so I had to go to school with the red marks where the blood was, for 3 days. My friend told me it looked as if someone scratched me and yup, he was right lol.)

So anyways, I quickly took off the fake blood before it could really sink into my skin, and it stained my fingers. Well as I was taking off my contacts and putting them back in the little case for them, I noticed one of the contacts was pink, and I realized it got stained with the fake blood. I tried rinsing it off with water, but it appears to be stained for good :/ Are they still good to wear? It's only stained on the inner part, so if I wear them, people can't see it's stained.

Thanks!

Is it safe to wear prescription contact lenses and prescription sunglasses at the same time?

It won’t be dangerous, but you should be aware that they are probably both made to correct your eyesight without anything already on it. So if you wear both the contacts and the sunglasses, you might not see as well and life might get pretty tiring, because you are now walking around with an overcorrection. Which can be dangerous if you are not aware that you don’t see as much as you should.Consult your optometrist if you are not sure if the sunglasses are made to wear with the lenses or not. If you have a normal need for glasses, ie no severe astigmatism, the best bet is that they are meant to be worn separately.

Are slightly damaged contact lenses safe to wear?

So Ive just got some monthly lenses. I have been wearing them for a few hours and have just taken them out. Left one came out no problem.

Right eye'd one was tougher but i managed to gently pinch it and take it out. Unfortunately after taking it out, I noticed it had 2 small cuts each side of the lense.

Could someone tell me if they are still safe to wear, and if not, why 2 small cuts could make such an impact?

Thanks

Can I wear contacts that expired one month ago? They were still sealed and in the package.

Usually lenses have about a 3 year expiration date so the lenses are probably close to three years old. The primary concern is not the lenses as much as it is the solution. Obviously solutions can go bad or the case could develop a tiny hole where air could leak in or solution leak out. Wearing expired lenses is never a good idea but the risk is less than buying lenses from an unlicensed source. You only have two eyes to last a lifetime. If there were a problem, the cost of a doctor visit and the meds to hopefully fix the problem would far outweigh tossing the lenses out and purchasing new ones.
