Are There Any Good Tv Shows/movies Out There With An Anti-hero Or Villian As The Man Character

Are there TV shows where the main character is the bad guy?

I don't know how justified it is but i feel Frank Underwood from House of Cards is pretty much a bad guy. Though the show is about politics and game planning you cannot shy away from the fact that he has done some pretty gruesome and gory things. He killed a reporter, planned an unnecessary air strike and played dirty politics to save his seat. He might be very intelligent and sharp but he is uses it to play shrewd and cunning.

What do you call a character who is both good and bad?

human...

love the hook handed man though. ermm but basically just neutral xoxo

Are there any shows where the character that is generally perceived as the good person is actually the bad person?

Spoilers ahead for Magi.(I am going to assume by “bad guy” you mean antagonist). I would have to say Sinbad, a thousand times over. When you look at him from a traditional sense you assume he is the home base character. It is a common trope in popular fiction; Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the school, Elrond (or Gandalf) and Rivendell from Lord of the Rings, countless anime have them. This is the character and by extension the place and faction who are the people the main cast typically rest their heads by and plan their next move. Often times this character will have some gand plan of their own that may or may not require the MC’s aid. However they always have good intentions.Sinbad is this character, and he is generally a good guy at heart. He is definitely an ally and friend of the main characters. However even near the very beginning you can already feel this creeping ambition within him. If you pay close attention to what he says and how he acts you may catch on sooner. It is a clear example of relativism by characters. Since he helps the main cast he is mostly seen as a good guy but most of the world leaders see him for what he truly is; a cunning and dastardly man who wants to rule everything. He will strong arm people into joining his alliance, and will often choose the more violent route then a diplomatic one if he can get more political authority out of it.By the final phase of the story it becomes clear that he is going to be one of the final antagonist; and in many ways the varies villains fought until that point were not as in control as you might have thought.

What is an anti-hero what are some good examples?

An anti-hero is the central character of a story or movie who's placed in the "hero" role- the one who has to save the world or whatever, but lacks the personal qualities of a hero.

Anti-heroes aren't the villians, because they work for a good outcome- although sometimes they don't intend to, and certainly don't give people any reason to trust them. They usually aren't friendly.

Anti-heroes are often selfish, dishonest or mean, sometimes they are criminals or other unsavory types. They look out for #1 first and foremost, If they have to do something nice or self-sacrificing, they'll do it when nobody is looking.

Riddick from the movies "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick"is an anti-hero. So is Leon the hitman from "The Professional" and V from "V for Vendetta". Clint Eastwood's role as "Dirty Harry" is another example.

In books, Thomas Covenant from "Lord Foul's Bane" is the very definition of an anti-hero.

What's the difference between an anti-hero and an anti-villain?

Anti-heroes are basically on the "good" side but still act in a way that isn't exactly heroic. So for instance, a hero who's on the good guy's side and fighting the bad guys, but using methods that would line up more with the bad guys, that's an anti-hero. James Bond in the new film series is a good example of this- he's fighting terrorism and saving the world, but he breaks the law, executes unarmed prisoners, treats just about everyone around him like dirt, and so forth. So that's a good example of the anti-hero.

Like many things in literature, anti-heroes vary. Some are basically likeable people who you can support, even if they don't always play by the rules, and some are only good in the sense that they are the designated good guy.

Anti-villains, meanwhile, are the reverse of that. They are people who are the enemy of the hero and doing the wrong thing, but still have some good traits about them. I remember learning about Long John Silver as the anti-villain in high school (do they still use Treasure Island in schools these days?). He was the bad guy, fought the heroes, but cared enough about the protagonist that he wasn't all bad. Another common example is in TV shows or movies where the heroes are criminals- often the cops who are after them are just regular cops trying to uphold the law. Once again, there can be some debate as to exactly where you draw the line between villain and anti-villain.

Anyway, as for your character, that's a pretty classic (if a little extreme) anti-hero. He's trying to do the best thing for the world, but his methods aren't that nice.
