Are These Poems Any Good

Is this poem any good?

I love it. This is really pooetic, even if who ever wrote this wasn't proffesional, I love the imagery. This poem has had a way of painting a positive picture on the canvas in my mind, which I assume, according to the title, was your intention. If you wrote this, I would say that you're talented, and no matter what type of critique you may receive, know that someone out there enjoyed reading this.

Where are some good places online to share my poems and get feedback?

Really good news! There are a lot of really good places to post online. These are just a few of the biggest ones I’ve come across. I’ve used most of them so I’ll include some details about each one with it.Commaful: Beautiful Short Stories At Your Fingertips : A very casual and nice place to share poetry. The people there are very nice and give feedback and words of encouragement. I haven’t seen any negativity here and it’s a great place to build an audience without facing hate.Hello Poetry : I really liked the size and scope of this site. There are all types of poems on this site. A very good collection and easy way to go through and share your poems. I also love that they put classics out there so if you want to read the classics they’re there for you.The World's Largest Poetry Site : They claim they’re the largest poetry site. I don’t like the layout of the site as much, but can’t argue with the library. There’s a lot of contests, award winning poets, and groups that you can participate in. Can be a bit intimidating and I did run into some eh people.Wattpad - Stories You'll Love : The poetry section here is sadly small, but does exist. Very amateur, but is a nice place to share overall.Medium – Read, write and share stories that matter : I think the poetry section is increasing. It’s not the most well known place for poetry, but there are a few popular-ish publications dedicated to poetry here. Overall not a bad place to post poems.Sign up | Tumblr ; use the hashtags #poetsontumblr to find and reach more poets. The feedback isn’t as much here, but there is a nice community.I’ve tried a bunch more, but from personal experience, these were the ones I liked the best. In each case, you’ll need to engage with other people to get the flywheel spinning for feedback

Is this poem any good? Does it make sense at all?

This poem is quoted at the beginning of the book ANSI Common Lisp by Paul Graham. It was written by a computer program called Henley, which was written by Robert Morris. The program scans a text (any text that you happen to input) and builds a table that, for every word in the text, lists all the words that follow it, and their frequency. (E.g. in the preceding couple sentences, "the" is followed by "beginning", "book", "text", and "words".) The program then generates random text by choosing a word to begin, then choosing from the possible words that follow it, then choosing from the possible words that follow that, and so on. Every two-word pair will have appeared somewhere in the source text, but the result as a whole is randomly generated. The source text of the poem above was Milton's "Paradise Lost".

Is my narrative poem any good?

I'm entering my poem in a contest to be published in a book. The poem is supposed to be a narrative about school. I wasn't sure if it was very school related. If it's not, please let me know so that I can write something else to submit. Thank you. And please if you're not gonna give me advice don't comment. Thanks so much:
She was a girl from nowhere.
She had a past
She had a home
She had a loving family
Still, she was a girl from nowhere.

It seemed like a sad occasion
It seemed like she would lose many friends
But really, this girl from nowhere
Would gain many friends.

Town to town
And house to house
Went the girl from nowhere.

Many goodbyes
And many hellos
Were said by the girl from nowhere.

Little did she know
These goodbyes
Were a blessing
In disguise.

The girl from nowhere,
Had many friends,
Had many teachers,
And had many homes.

This girl from nowhere,
Was actually from somewhere.
She was from the towns of her past,
She was from the houses of her past,
She was form the teachings
Of her past schools.

This girl from nowhere,
Finally discovered,
That she was from somewhere.

Also, if there's anything that I can add or take away from it, please let me know! Thanks!

What separates a good poem from a bad one?

Poetry is the essence of the words, the meter, the flow, the breaks -- it is a combination of how your senses perceive the poem as much as it is what you have written.

I have looked at many poems here lately, and they crash and are filled with rage. I don't read the rest of the poem because I am not filled with rage, and I would rather flow with words like I was drifting on a leaf across a puddle.

But that is my mood now, and that is why I do not answer these poems.

If you visualize, then you are better at critiquing than you think!

Visualize what his poem says -- does it reach you? if not, why not? Try this.

And, as in any good work, show don't tell.
