Are These Specs Good Enough For A Few Games I Want To Be Able To Play With High Performance.

Why are Macs expensive, yet have poor gaming performance?

If you’re here asking this, I think you don’t know this simple fact. Macs are not for gaming.Macs are built to certain specs, as well as tightly regulated OS that runs on a limited kind of hardware to ensure the maximum amount of performance can be atained. Think of it like a Xbox One that can do anything. Xboxes have ridiculously weak hardware compared to even a $350 gaming desktop. But in many cases, it runs quite a lot of games perfectly well, while the same can’t be said if you made a desktop with exactly the same desktop equivalent hardware (CPU performance is roughly an i3, GPU’s basically like an old AMD 7770).So there’s the hardware optimization thing. Aside from that, gaming uses GPU power more than anything. The most expensive MacBook Pro 15 comes with a Radeon Pro 460. It’s not a slouch on desktops as it’s a fully unlocked Polaris 11, which one-ups the desktop RX 460 basically. But it’s a Pro graphics card! Have you ever run a game using Nvidia Quadros? You’ll lose an average 3 FPS or so, and the price is elevated regardless of manufacturer. Think of the Pro 15 as a fully kitted Lenovo Thinkpad P50. That’s basically it. Granted they’re quite a bit more powerful on the GPU department but it’s because they don’t mind making it thick. Macs optimizes thinness so the weaker GPU is not a choice. It’s a necessity so that it outputs as little heat as possible. So in conclusion, anyone who uses a Mac for gaming, and then laments its performance is daft. Never listen to store promoters and instead ask someone who knows better. PCMR subreddit is a good place to start if you’re starting to game and want to build your own PC

Dell Inspiron 660 good enough for gaming? Specs are in the post.?

Is the Dell 660 good enough for gaming? These are the games I want to play on the new PC I am going to buy:
- DayZ
- Minecraft
- Battlefield 3
- Assassin's Creed 3
- Crysis 3
- The Elder Scrolls: Online

These are the main specs of the computer:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3330 processor (3,00 GHz, 6 MB cache)
Memory (RAM): 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA® GeForce GT 640 (1GB)
Hard Drive: 2 TB SATA-hard drive (7200 rpm)

On what settings would I be able to play the games and how many FPS would I get on those settings with and without Fraps? Please reply something like this example:
DayZ, Medium 60 FPS, High 50 FPS, Ultra 20 FPS
BattleField 3, Medium 50 FPS, High 40 FPS
etc.

I know that for Crysis 3 you need a very good graphic card so I'm not sure if this PC can even run that game at all, but please post what you think it will run on. (I know some games aren't released yet, but I will be playing them when they are)
Thanks.

Is Gigabyte's NVIDIA GT 720 good enough for recent games?

Well since I have the Nvidia GT 720M on my laptop and play a lot of games, I can answer most of your questions. My specs are :Processor : Intel Core i7 4th GenGPU : Nvidia GT 720MRAM : 8 GB DDR3Hard Dial : 1 TBSo let's see some of the latest games which I have run (latest means till 2016)Elder Scrolls V Skyrim : On medium graphics, performance was quite decent. Will have a good experience.Mortal Kombat XL : Even on the lowest possible settings, it did not clear more than 27.8 fps. So, you can't play it online and it gets laggy on a few maps.Witcher 3 Wild Hunt : Well, same problem as above, lagged on a few parts and sequences.Assassin's Creed Syndicate : On lowest graphics gameplay was smooth. But as soon as you entered crowded places or places with added effects, well, lag.FIFA 16 : Works like a charm even on full graphics.Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare : Great performance at medium settings.Battlefield 4: Great performance at medium settings.Need For Speed Rivals: On the lowest graphics, it was fine, try another setting to medium and bang, you are lagging a bit….and crashing the car a lot.Sid Meier's Civilization V : Worked like a charm on the highest graphics.Shadow Of Modor : Didn't even try above medium settings, that to with a few options disabled. So, basically, I had more specs than you in every department and what I can gather is if it were not for my processor and extra ram, the graphics card would have been only good enough for entry level gaming. With all my specs, we still get a mid level gaming rig.So if you want to play a few games, atleast get an i3 (4th Gen+) and over lock it a bit.4GB ram will do fine.Hard disk, well whatever gives you the fastest read write rate in your budget.Graphics Card : Tricky, though I would not suggest the GTX series as it is expensive but it will get the job done. If you want to go for the GT series, well, atleast make sure it starts with GT(8/9)XXXX and the rest is your own research. So, with that said, if we go according to the specs you mentioned, latest games, a big no, please don't torture the system.Games around the year 2012, maybe on low to medium settings.Anything medivial, will run fine I believe.

Is a laptop with GTX 1050 good enough for gaming?

You can consider GTX 1050 good enough if you are playing your games at low or medium settings. You can get around 40–50 FPS at medium (more FPS at low), it all depends on the game you are playing on your laptop.Older games (<2015–16) will give you an excellent performance but newer games (2017) like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Resident Evil 7, Ghost Recon: Wildlands will run near 30 FPS. Some newer games might be optimized to give a better performance but overall the performance will not be satisfying if you are a hardcore gamer. You can refer to this link for the benchmark details:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (Notebook)If you are just a casual gamer, this GPU will be good for you, but i would recommend upgrading to a GTX 1060 if it doesn’t exceed your budget. If you want i can suggest you some laptops as well.Hope this helps.

Is 4GB RAM good enough to run Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on MAX Performance?

Straight up no. Pentium should have been the first clue. It means it's a low-end computer, with low-end other things. You don't mention the graphics card so I guess it's the integrated HD2000, but the laptop can maybe, just maybe run Black Ops 2 with all the settings low because it's the outdated IW engine. Battlefield, nope. Skyrim, nope.

How much does a decent gaming laptop cost?

Anywhere from 650$-2500$. But if your looking for a gaming laptop that can run those games in high-ultra settings, check out some of acer's "G" series. Also go on xotic pc.com they have some laptops than will run the games you want on medium- high for 600-700$. Or if you want to spend a little extra cash, check out this one from lenovo: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y410p/
for 770$ you cant go wrong!
Good luck finding a lappy!

Can I play a PC game if my CPU doesn't match the minimum clock speed but has more than enough power due to more cores than required?

The answer is yes, as most people have already pointed out here.To get a bit more technical, clock speed is far less important than the general power of the chip itself. With each newer generation of processors, they generally get faster and/or cooler/smaller. Clock speed is always relative to the processor. While more cores isn't necessarily an indication your machine will run it better, it generally is. The more cores your machine has the more parallel processing it can do, thus freeing up headroom for other or more intensive applications like games. Many games are starting to support quad cores, but many still do not scale well with adding more cores. In general though, more cores perform better (forget about AMD's bulldozer). It is also important to take into consideration what model and how old your processor is. I can get an old Pentium 4 multithreaded "dual core" system up to 3.4 gHz, but my i5 750 even at 2.2 gHz would blow it out of the water. If you're ever hesitant about game settings, just look up some benchmarks. Also, like Garrett Valdivia said, graphics power is much more important when it comes to games. You can indeed usually squeak by on an older cpu with a beefed up gpu. Though you will experience bottlenecks on your gpu performance if you paired say a gtx 670 (or the like) with a pentium 4.
