Audition Monologues And Thank You

Good Audition Monologues? (About 1 min)?

I'm trying out for a leading role in our school play, The Jungle Book, and need a good monologue to use during auditions. It should have the same general feel/tone as The Jungle Book, if possible. I'm not too picky! Please help if you can!
Thanks!!

Much Ado About Nothing Audition/Monologue.?

What I am reading today is crazy - Shakespeare monologues in under a minute! What is the curriculum coming too? Now Shakespeare can be a bit long in the tooth and difficult to understand - no secret. Though if you're going to do it, teach it and perform it, why aren't they at least doing it properly?

I'm not taking this out on you my friend as you are simply wanting to audition. My complaint is with the directors/teachers running the show wanting kids to get it right in under a minute. To expect an important monologue of Shakespeare in anything under 2.5 minutes is a ridiculous request.

Here is a link to all different Shakespeare monologues:
http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/

With your 30 seconds to a minute, I'd concentrate on doing what you will have time for well rather than stressing about it being within that time frame. Really take time out to learn, understand, memorize and relate to the piece. If the judging panel stop you, they stop you - at least you would have shown them that you have the skills to perform the work.

All the best :)

Good audition monologues?

you could do something funny from the Importance of being Earnest and then something from 10 Things I Hate About You, like this:
Kat: I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare I hate your big dumb combat boots. And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick-- it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh -- even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didnt call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you - - not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Monologue for college audition?

Hello,

Thank you kindly for your time. I am a prospective music theater
student (17) and am truly at a loss to find a monologue respecting the
requirements for my audition at the post-secondary schools I am
heading for. I would be immeasurably grateful if you could assist me
in finding possibly great monologues (at least one perhaps) as well as
the plays from which they come. I would really appreciate your help!
Here are the requirements for my monologue:

One two-minute monologue from a contemporary (1940 to the present)
published play from a character within my age range (17 years old,
female)

Here are some examples they give (I am reluctant to try them for fear
of them having been overdone): Examples – Females: The Melville Boys
by Norm Forster, Waiting for the Parade by John Murrell or Les Belles
Soeurs by Michel Tremblay

Like I said, your help would be appreciated a great deal! Please,
please let me know as soon as you can if it is possible.

Thank you so much.

Where can i find a 1 minute monologue for auditions?

Coathanger Sculpture

Sally: A 'C'? A 'C'? I got a 'C' on my coathanger sculpture? How could anyone get a 'C' in coathanger sculpture? May I ask a question? Was I judged on the piece of sculpture itself? If so, is it not true that time alone can judge a work of art? Or was I judged on my talent? If so, is it fair that I be judged on a part of my life over which I have no control? If I was judged on my effort, then I was judged unfairly, for I tried as hard as I could! Was I judged on what I had learned about this project? If so, then were not you, my teacher, also being judged on your ability to transmit your knowledge to me? Are you willing to share my 'C'? Perhaps I was being judged on the quality of coathanger itself out of which my creation was made...now is this not also unfair? Am I to be judged by the quality of coathangers that are used by the drycleaning establishment that returns our garments? Is that not the responsibility of my parents? Should they not share my 'C'? (SFX: the teachers voice is heard offstage [brief unintelligible squawk voice mixed with electronic static)) Thank you, Miss Othmar. (to audience) The squeaky wheel gets the grease! (exits)

OR(this is my monologue)

LUCY (from You‘re a Good Man, Charlie Brown)
"Do you know what I intend? I intend to be a queen. When I grow up I’m going to be the biggest queen there ever was, and I’ll live in a big palace and when I go out in my coach, all the people will wave and I will shout at them, and...and...in the summertime I will go to my summer palace and I’ll wear my crown in swimming and everything, and all the peo ple will cheer and I will shout at them... What do you mean I can’t be queen? Nobody should be kept from being a queen if she wants to be one. It’s usually just a matter of knowing the right people.. ..well.... if I can’t be a queen, then I’ll be very rich then I will buy myself a queendom. Yes, I will buy myself a queendom and then I’ll kick out the old queen and take over the whole operation myself. I will be head queen."

Which is the best monolouge for auditions?

What are the best audition monologues from published plays?

Thanks for asking, Elaina! So I guess my main question would be this: do the monologue and song need to be from the same show, or do you just have to find two pieces that complement one another?Finding a good monologue is not a quick task. You shouldn’t settle for the first thing you find that seems OK. And you need to look far enough in advance to give yourself plenty of time to memorize it and really get prepared. And since you have to pair it up with a song, you need to think about similar character attributes, so you may need to find several to then have the flexibility to make the right match with your song choices.I would suggest you start here on StageAgent, Resources & Auditions for Theatre Artists | StageAgent, to look for both monologues and songs. There is search tool you can use to find a monologue, plus you can research characters using the Partfinder tool searching by age or vocal part to then find a song that might complement a monologue.By using the Partfinder, you can also get a little more familiar with some shows and characters by reading through the associated Show Guides, which then can help you decide what scripts to try to find at your local library. Finding a monologue online quickly is great, but you should always read the full play before performing it.If you already have some songs in mind, you could take a closer look at the characters who sing a specific song and see if the StageAgent database recommends other shows or character with similar attributes that you could further research. I just suggest that you dig in, knowing that the first few monologues you find will not work out, but just get the creative process moving. Good luck!
