What is your favorite metal band? Why?

MegadethI swear, these guys are sheer musical geniuses. You have Rust in Peace (a metal masterpiece), Peace Sells (another masterpiece), and several other very good albums. Also, they are still going (considerably) strong. Dystopia ain’t no RIP but it sure beats what Slayer, Metallica or Anthrax are releasing nowadays.VoivodThey literally invented progressive metal. So stop fawning over Dream Theater when Voivod was in the prog game in the 80s. Also, their best album Killing Technology could be considered the first progressive metal album (and the best), and just a year later, they released Dimension Hatross, which is full out blown prog metal as compared to KT which has thrash mixed in. Yet another year later, they released Nothingface, another monumental record in the history of progressive metal.Right now, they have released Target Earth for a while already. Sadly, it doesn’t match their golden era material, but is still better than most of the crap out there.Complementary picture of Voivod because why notRIP Piggy, Nick Menza, Cliff Burton, and Chuck Schuldiner (not mentioned in this album)

What is your favorite band? What is your favorite and least favorite song by them?

Thanks for the A2A.My all time favorite band would be 'Coldplay'.Seriously, I could not remember when I became the fan of the band.I still remember the song that I have been first listened to. 'God put a smile on my face' would be in the list of all time favorite songs of the band.Whenever, I feel down or exhausted, I will always listened to their songs. Their songs would feel almost like an 'Alpha Music', because the beats would exactly match with our own heartbeat. But, I don't want you to go that deep to understand the technicalities. I want you to feel their emotions through music, and I would like you to be proud of having such band on the earth who spread love among people. If you haven't seen a video featured an Autism boy, who emotionally bursted out crying while attending the live concert of the band, then I will recommend you to see it.For the song 'Fix You', the boy and his father both went emotional and made the whole world emotional. The family even inspired the band and the whole world with their emotions.Thats the same feeling, I always have whenever I am listening to their songs.I have listed my personal favorites below. I am sorry, I could not list out least favorite, usually I hate negativities. My Song is LoveGod Put a smile on my faceSee you soonFix YouMidnightViva la vidaHymn for the weekendScientistClocksParadiseLovers in JapanColdplay - Charlie BrownMiraclesCemetries of LondonSpeed of SoundAtlasHeadfull of DreamsUp&UpListen to them, and be proud that you have listened to.Blink a smile and Spread Love.

What is your favorite classic rock band?

This is quite the question to ask, considering the numerous factors that make for a great rock band. Not only that but comparing bands in a genre as large and diverse as classic rock is almost like picking apples and oranges. For example, Led Zeppelin and Journey. Both are great, however, their styles are noticeably different.Diving in to this idea, there are many features that may stick out pointing to why the band is so awesome. Is it their lyrics, the tone, their passion? Each band has its overwhelming strength as well as an Achilles heel when compared to these ideals. How I would usually go about it is by my mood, since certain bands are much greater when dealing with a certain emotion and some become weaker. Just try listening to something like “How Soon Is Now?” or “Run Like Hell” when you’re in a happy mood. They’re still great songs, but they clearly aren’t as strong. But that leads to yet another question: What about songs that work, no matter which mood? Songs like “Go Your Own Way” are lyrically and musically open enough to interpret as angry, happy, or pretty much anything else. Does this mean that music that is more open is better, since it allows for wider emotional range? I believe so, and I would love to see responses to that. Now for my own opinion, I divide questions like these into categories, since I believe that there’s no way to place one band above the others’ strengths. Most Influential: Led Zeppelin, QueenWidest Range of Emotion: U2, The SmithsGreatest Passion: U2Most Virtuosic: RushWildest Tone: Van HalenThe Most Pleasant Soundscapes: Pink FloydCleverest Lyrics: Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The SmithsCoolest: AC/DCBest Albums: Pink Floyd

What are your top 10 favorite bands?

This is a hard one because there are so many possible answers. I’m just going to spitball a few bands to give a feel for their accomplishments. Not all are going to be bands and many will be solo artists or songwriters:The Beatles: Duh. That goes without saying.Bob Dylan: Introduced a broader vocabulary and real poetry to pop music. The Who: Invented punk and pioneered many synthesizer and prog styles. The Rolling Stones: Not my favorite band, but you cannot deny their impact.James Brown: Not a band, per se, but James contributed to R&B, soul, funk, hip hop, disco, and much more. Anything with a dance beat owes something to James.Bob Marley and the Wailers: I’m not a reggae fan but Bob and his band created a unique form of music that was groundbreaking and influential.King Crimson: Not everybody likes prog (I get that) but Crimson (along with early influences from Moody Blues) invented and perfected the initial genre. They then created metal-prog, jam-prog, new-wave-prog, and industrial-prog.The Kinks: Anybody who uses character assassinations in their lyrics owes a heavy debt to this band. And the Brit Pop genre would not exist without them. Beautiful, whimsical, tragic.Sugar Hill Gang: Yes, I know that they were more than a bit manufactured, but the early impact they had on rap cannot be overstated. Though they didn’t invent it, they did introduce it to a wider public.Run DMC: Merging hip hop and rock, and introducing complex counterrap melodies, Run DMC made rap huge.Early Innovators: Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis all deserve an important spot for their influence on rock and roll.Hank Williams Sr: The original cowboy poet, Hank Williams took Tin Pan Alley pop and melded it with heartbreaking lyrics in a way that only he ever perfected. There are a lot more, of course, but these 12 are all artists that should be studied and respected.

Who's your favorite singer or band?

My favorite singer would be without a doubt, The King of Pop!VOCALLY: Unique tone, distinctive techniques, exquisite execution and a great range; Lyric Tenor (4 octaves, 1 note, and a semi-tone). Vocal rate is a star according to critics.DANCE & STAGE PRESENCE: To me, he’s always been remembered as a spectacular performer/influential dancer due to the iconic/wondrous dance moves he came up/or incorporated into his style(such as the Moonwalk, or The Lean) and due to his smooth execution and perfect coordination. His stage presence also was also strikingly iconic and his looks in each era were unbelievably diverse.SONGWRITING & COMPOSITION: The man wrote more than a half and composed nearly his entire discography!Songs written by Michael Jackson (includes GREATEST HITS!)However what made him such a genius songwriter was the diverse concepts, fluid lyrics, and catchy and memorable melodies he came up with. He can talk about political or environmental world problems while delivering it in a beautiful melody. His style of writing was a wide spectrum of topics, emotions, genres and vocal exploitation(from Earth Song which showed his high notes to 2000 Watts which showed his low notes).MUSIC VIDEOS:He didn’t just compose, write and create but he also directed! His music videos have always been visually interesting and intriguing at times. Thriller is known as the absolute greatest music video of all time. Smooth Criminal was theatrical. Black or White and Heal the World are beautiful. Underrated music videos such as Speed Demon and Leave Me Alone have always carried such a comic visual style.SALES:His album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time; selling more than a 100 million copies WORLDWIDE. Need I say more? Most expensive music video of all time is Scream. SECOND highest-grossing concert tour in the 80s is BAD($125,738,964) and the fifth-grossing concert tour is Victory Tour by The Jacksons($176,665,599).He’s overall the third-best selling artist OF ALL TIME(after Elvis Presley and The Beatles). But you know even despite his immense, unparalleled talent let’s not forget the fact that he was also a humanitarian, an environmentalist and a highly intelligent and loving human being. He founded the Neverland Ranch(which was dedicated for children), contributed to millions of charities, helped lots of disadvantaged children, spoke against racism and injustice in many of his speeches, and was very loving and loyal to his fans and to the world.

Who is your favorite Indie rock band/bands and why?

This is basically going to come down to your definition of "Indie rock" -- if you mean it purely as a genre -- what is getting played on "indie rock radio" -- the question is somewhat uninteresting because those bands are typically no more "independent" than any other pop/rock band.   (Not to pick on Amy Li but her inclusion of Depeche Mode -- who were big label signees from day one, and one of the more commercially astute and successful bands of their era -- shows just how meaningless the term "indie" has become).   If you want to talk about bands that have truly maintained "indie" status, I'd offer The Damnwells.   Musically these New-York based guys are more alt.country than the jangly-droney-shouty axis that a lot of indie-radio sounds pivot on.  But as far as "indie nature", almost nobody has these guys beat.  After an abortive early relationship with Epic records, they released their third album for free on line, and financed their next projects directly from fans (via the PledgeMusic platform).  They have made great use of social media and other direct-communication paths to maintain and build a world-wide fanbase.  There is a good documentary on Netflix about the band called Golden Days, but I'd highly recommend just finding their music.
