Best Amarnath Yatra Tour Operator For 2014

How is your experience about Amarnath Yatra?

i went there in july 2015, we were supposed to commence yatra from pahalgam but due to heavy rainfall that route was closed, then we went to srinagar and from there we went to baltal. we started our journey early morning around 4am from baltal,The view and scenery is way amazing and mesmerizing.Baltal route is shorter but the trek from baltal is very steep and narrow. it is around 14–16 KM route .Climate during july stays pleasant but you can expect heavy rainfall anytime (a week after we came back there was cloudburst in baltal and few people died in it)you can return back to base camp the same day.The local people are very clingy and will demand “bakshis” for everything, if you refuse they will argue and may lead to altercation so i suggest you give into their petty demands.during trek eat only at bhandaras which are located in between and avoid eating or buying anything from sellers in between as they charge 50rs for one cup of tea and 30rs for water bottle.overall i suggest that amarnath yatra is a one time life experience but you should be very careful as current situation in kashmir is not very safe and one should practice caution.

Has anyone been to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra? How much does it cost? Is it better to go with GoI or private tour operators?

Yes, we’ve been to KMY in 2016. With Private tour operators it costs around 1.5lakhs by Helicopter from Lucknow (8–10 days)or 1.65 lakhs by Helicopter from Kathmandu(10–12 days) or around 1.10lakhs by Road via Naylam (14–15 days)we opted Private tour operator so that we can be sure that we are going to kmy that year and that too all 3 of us together. As for the GoI organized KMY there’s a lucky draw and your name might get selected or not. And what if not all are slected ? Moreover the duration is 24 days to 21 days. But I heard that its more safe than private tour operators.Even we discussed about safety with our operator. He said he had Gamow Bag, Oxygen Pillow with the experienced Guide. Moreover we also took a Travel Insurance just to be on a safer side as they would provide emergency evacuation in case of any calamity or injury, Also covered severe injuries, death, loss of luggage etc.By the Grace of Lord Shiva, we had a successful Parikrama of the Mt. Kailash, Dip in Holy Mansarovar lake.Due to Bad Weather, we had Flight and Helicopter delays i.e. 5 additional days. The Tour Operator didn’t charge us for the additional days he accommodated and fed all of us .Rk Nagraj's answer to What is the best way to travel to Mt. Kailash from India? What are the requirements and the best time?

Is it safe for an Indian Hindu to travel to Kashmir?

My family and I had planned an 8 days long visit to Kashmir for June’18. The bookings for the Jammu-Katra-Vaishno Devi-Pahalgam-Srinagar-Sonmarg-Doodhpathri-Srinagar route were done 6 months in advance.Even before the bookings and after we were advised by many people not to visit Kashmir due to the disturbed situation. We kept our fingers crossed. Around a month before our trip, there was a case of a tourist death by stone pelting, which had alarmed us. Days ahead, ceasefire was invoked by the Modi Govt. during the Ramazan month, which was later revoked and the then chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had resigned which led to the implementation of Governor rule. I am stating all this because we were shit scared to travel given all these circumstances. Our travel agent kept calling and telling us there is nothing to be afraid of and everythign is normal. We were determined to cancel our trip even on the date of travel, if things don’t look good.We went ahead with our plan, did Mata Vaishno Devi darshan and traveled from Jammu to Pahalgam by road (NH-1). It is one hell of an experience - this is the only road that connects Srinagar to teh rest of India and is prone to landslides. We stayed there for 2 days, then went to Srinagar. This was the time for Amarnath yatra which was supposed to start from 28th June, so there was a lot of checking going on. We were stopped at almost every prominent crossroad by military personnel/J&K police to check if we were yatris and were let go immediately after we told them we were tourists. There was no discomfort or fear.We took road trips to Sonmarg and Doodhpathri, which again were nothing short of peace and excitement. The locals are very polite and helpful. They will try to comfort you if you have questions or are scared - we were, initially. We had gotten used to seeing an army personnel at every 300–400m with big guns, but they were deployed majorly due to the Amarnath yatra. We had a heart warming experience of traveling through Kashmir and came back a couple of days ago.I had probably read every answer available on Quora regarding Kashmir tourism before going there and they had helped me a lot. This is my contribution, I hope this could help you ease out a little while planning your trip to the heaven on earth!
