I was wanting to get a Best Buy credit card and I was wondering if it will help my credit score? I want to buy a $600 guitar and make payments on it so if I had a credit limit of $600 and buy that guitar and make payments on it, will that do more harm than good or will it matter at all? What is the best credit card rewards program in terms of pure cash rewards, not including temporary promotions?

Alliant Credit Union has a 2.5% card. This is the highest flat rate I’ve seen. It requires “excellent” credit and a $59 AF.All other cards listed here have $0 AF. A “*” means I currently have the card. I’ve applied for all the cards listed, and was rejected for some..Uber* has a 1/2/3/4% card. The 4% is on dining and is probably unsurpassed for this purpose. Savor is similar, but only 1/2/3%.Citi has 2% Double Cash, 1% awarded when paying the statement balance.1.5% flat from WF Cash Wise*, Amex Cash Magnate*, Capital One Quick Silver*, Chase Freedom Unlimited, etc.Discover It* has 1/2% & 5% rotating. Chase Freedom is 1% & 5% rotating.KeyBank Key2More* has 1.5% if spending over 2k/month.Some linked cards allow 1.65% or so, like the TD Client Rewards. Fidelity is 2% with an investment account. My favorite of the lot is the Amex Cash Magnate because Amex has the best feeling/looking card and best mobile app. However, it requires a $25 cash-in increment. The Uber, Capital One, and Discover cards allow redeeming any amount towards statement credit. There are also different features and quality-of-life differences between the listed cards. Some banks just have better apps. So, with rates very competitive, I’d say “best” is the card that you want to use everyday. After 11 No AF rewards credit cards, I use these:Amex Cash Magnate: preferred everyday usage (1.5% CB)Uber: dining (4% CB) and cellphone (for insurance, 1%)Discover It: Amex backup and Cash Over (1–2% CB; I don’t play the rotating game)Quick Silver & Cash Wise, not in wallet: for some bills to build a “relationship” (1.5% CB)
