Well, there’s your answer, the same is true of almost anybody else as well.Note, I’m not knocking Bloodhound or other such projects in any way - they have value. But they also cost a great deal and need investors, and most people simply don’t think it’s worth it. That’s why they struggle.

Yes. SSCs are like any other car in that there are forces, wind, surface, aerodynamic, stability, that tend to push vehicles off a straight line. Jets also have issues with possible uneven thrust. So steering is needed to correct for those issues.The steering is nothing like on “regular cars”, with a much higher ratio. The Thrust used, I think, a 30:1 ratio - 30 degree turn of the steering wheel turned the road wheels 1 degree. At close to the speed of sound you don’t want to do anything drastic quickly.
