Bmw 116i Sport Wont Start Any Ideas

Can my car start in third gear?

Hello,

I'm driving a Volkswagen Polo from about 7 to 8 years old, and I was wondering if I can start the car in third gear.

I did driving school, for 20 hours in total and I used to drive with a BMW (I think it was a 116i) and I had to start it in second and in third gear, because the instructor told me that I had to learn to "apply the correct romance" to the clutch.

So, now I finished the car driving school, and I'm now allowed to drive alone with a sticker at the back of my car (saying I'm a student driver, in Belgium it's an 'L', from 'Leerling', meaning student, but I have no idea how it's shown in other countries).

Now, I did a bet with a friend of mine at school, he doesn't believe a car can possibly start in third gear, and I'm ought to prove that I can do this by next week. Can anyone just confirm me that I can? :3 And if I do so, what'll happen with the clutch of my Polo?

Otherwise, I'm probably screwing my gear box.

What's the difference between m sport and and m series bmw?

"What's the difference between m sport and and m series bmw?"
-- There is a bit of a difference with a BMW that has M sport package and something with an M badge (M3, M5/M6). In simple words, its the performance and handling capabilities of the vehicle. More specific, its the engine, suspension, chassis, steering tuning, which are aggressive in M models (not in anything that has M sport package). But with M sport package, the BMWs are mostly set up for comfort with slight alteration to the tuning mentioned above from normal BMWs.

What are the best sports cars for a 16 year old?

go nissan 350z touring or track if possible. nissan 300sx twin turbo is very fast if you're able to even find one...240sx is more easy to find, and can be fixed up to be silvia conversions...350 and 300sx are more skyline based, drifting style. acura integra, honda civic si are nice autocross cars for cheap...light with low centers of gravity. the mustang gt is very nice, but preferably 2011 and newer because of the recent massive engine reconstruction. Mazdaspeed 3's are popular street racing cars. bmw 3 series or m series is very good, similar to acura and nissan racing...don't go with the 1 series for anything though, bmw 1 series is junk. You could blaze in style with a modified sl series from mercedes, more expensive to maintain though...

BMW for a 16 year old girl??

Even though it may be considered a fast car by others... it really isn't that fast.

And it is a really safe vehicle though on the other side. Any car is dangerous for a young driver. It doesn't matter how much hp it has... a ford focus can be driven fast too.

If you feel like she deserves it and can afford to do that for your daughter then that will definately help her not having to buy a car.

But college will be coming up too, so don't go too crazy.

Will a car start after the airbags have been deployed?

Yes. I work in collision repair and we get cars in all the time with airbag deployments. Drivers bag, passenger bag, side curtains, seat belt retracters, I've changed them all, and I've driven the cars into the shop to do it.

On a BMW 1 series, what does ES and SE stand for ?

Hi

ES = Edition Sport (not to be confused with "M Sport")
SE = Special Equipment

The SE has much better equipment than the ES and is worth a lot more because more people want them.

If you want a "cheap" BMW, get the ES but beware that you won't get much interest when you want to sell it.

I'd go for the SE over the ES but given the choice would go for the M Sport every time,

Andy

BMW M3, is it a good car?

BMW's are notorious for outrageous maintenance costs. A car like the M3, that's that old will be an absolute money pit. Especially if you don't know much about them. The 650 is a similar story. Older german cars like these are very tempting, but it's a good idea to stay away. They'll do more harm than good.

Is a Mercedes is a good first car?

A Mercedes would be a fine first vehicle. They are well built, safe, and comfortable. Your insurance will not be noticeably higher based on the vehicle itself. The vast majority of insurance costs are based on potential medical expenses to people injured in an accident. Replacing a vehicle is a very small part of the overall cost in a major wreck. So, dangerous types of vehicles such as motorcycles and sports cars will tend to inflate insurance costs much more than just the base price of the vehicle being driven.

The greatest cost increase in owning a Mercedes is in maintenance and repairs. Many of their vehicles are built with bells and whistles such as electronic suspension. These things can be quite costly to repair or replace. Take good care of the vehicle, and it will take good care of you.

Read the manual, and pay special attention to maintenance. You can disregard the manual's demands that you only get it serviced at a Mercedes dealership, or that you only use Mercedes brand oil and fluids. However, you need to get the vehicle maintained at the recommended intervals, and you need to make sure that you are using quality consumables. ALWAYS use 100% synthetic oil. Never use a synthetic blend, and never ever use conventional oil. Stay away from "miracle products" like oil stabilizer, fuel additives, and leak stop products. Just maintain the vehicle like you should, and start and drive it regularly.

Treat the car well, and drive safely and responsibly. The money you save by not letting the car fall to ruin and not getting in a wreck by doing something stupid will outweigh the money you spend on quality maintenance by 20:1. Most importantly, don't make your grandfather regret giving you his car. You can always fix a car; you may not be able to fix your relationship with your grandfather.

Why does BMW have such heavy steering?

The answer is one simple (but important) word...

FEEDBACK.

BMW engineers deliberately designed the car to have adequate power steering assistance while offering good feedback to the driver so that when you take a curve, you can feel the road and available grip based on how heavy the steering feels.

Drive this same car on snow and ice, and feel the steering effort. You'll see what I mean.

In contrast, a regular family sedan (say a Honda Accord), the steering requires almost no effort. But at the same time, has almost no feedback.

As far as vehicle weight is concerned, a power steering system can be set up to give any amount of power assistance. So weight isn't an issue at all (or truck drivers will have a hard time turning their huge vehicles)!
