Can A Black And White Laser Printer Print Grey Color Exactly Same As A Laser Color Printer

Do inkjet printers use color ink when printing black and white documents? If so, why?

If the print is pure black and white, and the printer has a dedicated black cartridge, it should just use the black ink. I can think of two things that might use more color ink than you might expect:First, every time the inkjet gets ready to print, it will prime and clean the printheads. It does that to ensure they aren't clogged and ink will flow freely as needed. It will do this on all colors, even if you only print black. This uses some ink.Second, if you are printing monochrome gray scale images (say a black and white photo on the page), the printer might use color inks in order to get more shades of gray. Higher end photo printers have black and gray ink so they can print high quality black and white photos without using the color cartridges. They often have light and dark cyan and magenta inks also for smoother color blending.

How does an inkjet printer print grey color? Is must be black and white right? But how is white produced?

Printers use red, Yellow and blue Or more common is Magenta(red), Cyan(blue), and Yellow. When you mix the three inks together you get Black. Some printers use a larger separate black ink cartridge. White is simply no ink used.
If you mix the three colors RBY in a light then you get a white light. You mix yellow and blue together to get green, most printers do not have a green ink cartrige.

Do laser printers print white ink?

No - no consumer level printers print white. The only way I know to print white is with a printing press.

Northing you will be able to get your hands on will print white.

If the design isn't too complex an inexpensive at home way to print white is by screen printing. However screen printing is only really good for producing a large quantity of the same design.

How to do I get my HP Color Laserjet CM1015 printer to print in black and white even when it has run out of...?

if one of your cartridge be empty your printer show alarms
you can fix this problem by inject some water into three hole on top of your color cartridge (i personally used special ink for that but water may work too now your cartridge is full - full of water :-) )
printing with black cartridge only:
in XP go to control panel then printers know right click on your printer choose printer properties> color > check print in gray scale > check black and white cartridge only
in Seven go to devices and printers >right click on your printer>printing preferences>color>color options>check print in gray-scale >check black print cartridge only

If you have a black and white printer, does that include grey?

Yes, and No . . .
Technically it can only print black, but my printing small dots of black with white space between gives the illusion of grey, same as a colour printer used 4 colours to create all the colours you need.

So un summary, it cannot "print grey" but can "print what appears to be grey at a normal viewing"

Why does my Xerox Phaser 6125 printer print light black (black or color mode) while colors print fine?

Check your printers settings while on the pop out that comes up when you select print. Search for an option called " print in gray scale" or " gray page" or "ink preserver" of " similar" these options are meant to conserve ink by printing less bold characters/ images.

in the case of the black ink, the printer just applies a light layer of ink creating the gray color.
In the case of the color printing black, the printer is using completely equal and minimal amounts of red yellow and blue ink to create the light gray color.

To fix this problem, unselected the ink saver option under the print menus.

Do inkjet printers use colour ink to print grey?

Unless the colour is 100% black or text, most printers will use the cyan, magenta and yellow colours to create a "muddy black".

Your printer should allow you to "print all colors as black", or more precisely, shades of grey.

Click "Print" and then the "Properties" button to open the printer settings panel. Look for a small check box that disables colour printing.

That should do the trick.

Why is my printer printing in Pink instead of black?

To determine if the cartridge set can produce the correct basic colors, run the "Clean The Print Cartridges" function under Services in the printer driver properties. The cleaning process will produce black, cyan, magenta, and yellow if both cartridges are good. If one or more of the colors is missing:
1. A cartridge has failed or is empty.
2. The print nozzles may be plugged, i.e. dried out or not being cleaned properly by the service station.
3. The cartridge and carriage electrical contacts may be dirty.
4. The printer may have failed.
If there is an incorrect color, the ink is mixed inside the color cartridge.

-- Do not continue until you have worked through any issues revealed above. --

After establishing that the printer is capable of producing the basic color set, print from a software application. If you are not getting the expected colors, consider these possibilities:
1. The software is not configured properly.
2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver.
3. The printer may have failed.
