Can A Permit Driver Get Liability Insurance

New drivers (permit); what can save money on insurance?

Okay, new drivers in the family (got the permit today). Of course, DMV rats you out to Allstate, and Allstate charges a ton for insurance (Arm + Leg). Oh, two new drivers. So I'm looking for ways to show good character to Allstate or find a cheaper insurance.

Now, I know some basic things about Auto Insurance:
A) Good grades (above 3.0 gpa) can get a discount from some insurers (usually 10%). Have this.
B) I drive a moderate car (not SUV or sedan). Good condition.
C) The car will be shared between 2-3 young drivers. Since they can't all be in the car at once, I imagine this could reduce costs.
D) No criminal record and no disciplinary file at school.
E) In the Fall, Drivers Ed is offered. I understand that it also can reduce costs
F) Parents are responsible drivers (low insurance)

Who tends to be cheapest with Auto Insurance? Am I wrong in any of the above statements, and is there any other factors that can save money? Where is the best place to get a quote?

Thank you!

Do you need insurance to get a driver's license in the US?

No, but ...The general rule is that you have to bring a car that meets all state standards to your driving test. That would normally mean that the owner of the car has insurance on it. Auto insurance is a strange combination of coverage of the owner(s) and the drivers, so an insurance policy covers each named driver, no matter what vehicle they are driving and any driver of the autos identified on the policy if the driver is authorized or has not been excluded on the policy. When you take your test, you are not specifically insured on the policy, but you would still be covered. Once you pass, you will need to be added to the policy of the car you are driving, unless you aren't actually going to be driving (for example, that you are away at school and borrowed your sister's car for the test, but don't live there and don't intend to be driving while in school).

Auto insurance without driver license?

i know that many insurance companies insure cars and people with a drivers license from other states and in fact here in san diego there are a lot of insurance places that provide that service to those with mexican driver's licence, i know they do this here because we border with mexico but you might want to check around and ask those small independent insurance companies (considering texas border with mexico as well) just don't go with the big guys they won't do it!!!

Can you register and insure a car without a driver's license in California?

The DMV in California does not require residents to show a driver’s license to register their vehicles. You could register a car but that doesn’t mean you are authorized to drive it and the same applies to titling. All you need to do is present the vehicle title along with the odometer mileage, provide a smog inspection certificate (if required), submit a completed Application for title and registration form, and pay your fees and taxes. Now, auto insurance companies require drivers to show a valid driver’s license in order to be eligible for a policy. It would be a very exceptional case to find someone who got an auto insurance policy without holding a driver’s license.Look at it this way: Why would a driver apply for an auto insurance when he/she is not legally allowed to drive a motor vehicle?Insurers have different ways of screening their clients but don’t expect to get a driver’s license if you are legally authorized to drive in California.Hope that answers your question.

Drivers license in California if i am 17.5?

If you are over 17 ½ but under 18 years of age, you may get your permit without the driver education and driver training certificates however, you will not be able to take the driving test until you turn 18.

Once you pass your written test, you will be issued a provisional permit.

To take your driving test, you will need to:

•Make a driving test Appointment(s) . (Driving tests are not given without an appointment.) You may also call 1-800-777-0133 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, to make a driving test appointment.
•Provide proof of financial responsibility
After you pass your driving test you will be issued an interim license valid for 60 days until you receive your new photo license in the mail. Check your address before you leave DMV and tell the DMV representative if you have moved or if your address is incorrect. If you have not received your license after 60 days, call 1-800-777-0133 to check on the status. Have your interim license with you to provide information when requested.

If you fail your driving test, you must wait two weeks before you can take the test again. You have three chances to pass.
