Lying on an application for a loan?

This question is 100% hypothetical (made up)
Lets say you lie on an application about your income
And you are approved for the loan
BUT... you never get the loan. You decide against it.

After the fact, the bank finds out you lied
But can they sue you, or could you be criminally prosecuted in any way?

I'm looking at the FAFSA form - sure seems intrusive
The schools push kids to fill these out - I hear that nagging counselor on the speaker when the time comes near to fill this out
It's be fun to lie and put you only make $1,000 a year and have nothing in savings
If you get offered loans, you can just turn them down
Someone said you can't get into college unless you fill this out - pretty darn intrusive if you ask me

What's the worst that can happen if I lie on a personal loan application.?

Well if you just put in false information on the application form probably nothing as the bank may well do some investigations and discover it is wrong so reject the application and do nothing. However you can get into big trouble if you try to embellish the application down the line when the bank asks for proof of income for example. There are companies offering to produce false payslips and other phoney documents. This is a big no no as if they have the documents and investigate if they are genuine you are toast. 12 years ago no problem but in view of what happened in 2008 with loan defaults the consequences now can be bad.My advice is always to be truthful and never ever part with documents you know to be false as they can easily come back to bite you later, that goes for anything, it really is not worth it nowadays, you will always have a ticking time bomb ready to go off.

What happens if you don't pay your car loan, but they can't find your car for repossession?

My little sister live in Atlanta and has a car that she's paying on. I think she's about halfway through the payments on it. She is moving to New York City and wants to take her car. But she's telling me she's just going to store it in a garage in Jersey somewhere and stop making the payments because she wants to keep her car for as long as she can.. So they may not be able to locate it for repossession. But I'm scared because can't she be charged with theft? What if like a year goes by and they still haven't repo'd the car? I'm afraid she'll be charged with car theft or something.. She thinks she's slick but I can't talk her out of it! She seems to think that at some point they'll just write it off and maybe even get a judgement against her which will RUIN her credit but she doesn't seem to care! I'm just concerned about any legal action..

Let me know how this works!

Took a loan from cashnetusa, couldnt pay back, threatening charges?

Debt is a civil, not criminal matter in the USA. They cannot press charges and charge you with a crime...so you can't go to jail.
Debt collectors for payday loans are notoriously aggressive and nasty and they will tell you any lie to scare you into paying.
The way to pay any default like this is to settle it all up front for less, with all terms in writing BEFORE you pay....like $200 or do. Don't make the mistake of paying out random "good faith" payments whenever you have some extra money. This is the worst possible way to pay debt collectors and it's very likely that your paying of $100 would go down a black hole of high interest and fees. Never give debt collectors your bank account #'s.

What legal action one could take if someone is refusing to pay the money back he has lent?

If you have lent the money in good faith for his benefit without charging any unlawful interest, such as helping him on his medical expenditure etc. , then you can file a recovery suit in a civil court having the Jurisdiction to try the suit. The Jurisdiction of a civil court varies from case to case, it depends on the amount of the suit or the amount of money that you are seeking to recover.Note: relevant document's such as agreement paper etc. are usually required in such case to prove your claim.

If my bank mistakenly deposits $1,000,000 into my account, am I legally allowed to spend it before they realize their mistake?

Once a bank deposited mistakenly 150,000 in my account, I took it all and when bank sent me a notice, I refused to pay. The bank then collected the money from my other bank account which was with same bank. The bank informed me that how mistake was done. It was due to same debit card number on diffrent accounts. I went to a lawyer and sued the bank 1. Mishandling accounts2. Intention to create negetive credit report (before this incident I tried to apply for a loan and bank refused it since I had bad credit score)3. Agnoy caused. 4. Mental harrasment. The case was judged in my favor and bank needed to pay me another 250,000 as damages. Court also ordered bank to pay 150,000 to the person who lost money and damages of 100,000 Soon after this the bank manager was changed and bank forced closed my accounts giving reason a really bad credit report and as a negetive customer. I again filed a case against them since no bank can deny your account on basis of credit report. Since now this time it was in media, bank settled the case outside the court giving me 500,000 and 250,000 to my lawyer. Later after a year I applied for a loan under certain special conditions and bank approved it without going for in depth investigation. I was unable to pay installment on time so they sent a recovery agent to me who tried to force money illegally, since I have CCTV installed, I had all proofs that it was bank's agent trying to harras me. I sent it all to my same lawyer again and before any case could be filed, a settlement was made in which bank closed my loan and offered me a million dollar as damages. I again applied for loan bank approved it and even I don't pay my installments on time bank never calls me or sends a reminder. You see you need to have presence of mind and a good lawyer.

Can a payday loan company sue me for writing bad checks?

About a year ago I took out a $300 payday loan from Hydra Financial I. Due to life circumstances I was unable to repay the loan and had my bank stop all debits from this company. Last week I received a phone call from a company stating that they are representing Hydra Financial and I am being sued for writing bad checks. I asked if I could do anything to avoid going to court and they said I could set up a payment plan but had to make the first payment that day using a credit card not a bank account number. This company had also called several immediate family members and also a friend claiming they were trying to locate me. Is this something that they can actually do or is it a scam?
