Can An Animal Aggressive Dog Be Reformed

Definition of small breed dogs?

i'd go with weight as well. to say "small breeds" does seem too broad, especially when you get into mixes and poorly bred full-bloods. and to measure from shoulder to base of tail (as AKC does for height restrictions) would exclude small but long breeds like dashchunds unfairly.

i'm sure you've already done so, but if you haven't yet, check with your attorney or local jurisdiction about the legalities of this before putting it in practice. a HOA in our area lost a lawsuit about this on the grounds that to draw the line on sizes/breeds allowed was discriminatory. they were ordered to either allow all dogs or none. most of our parks or HOAs comply with this ruling - those that don't are at risk of paying fines if it goes to court.

I live next door to a pitbull dog owner what can i do to get rid of them.?

I need to clarify the question I wrote. Also to respond to the answers I got. My neighbors are drug dealers, the dogs have killed other dogs in the area and both of us bought our homes. So it is not easy just to move. Police are scared of the dogs and the impound wont do anything. I am sorry if I offended everyone. I do have 2 small dogs and a 5 yr old boy. AND NO ONE WILL HELP!!!! So if you are going to answer me saying the BREED is wonderful...yes...some of them are but you apparently do not live next door to two vicious dogs(that also just had a litter of 7) that I know for a fact they are fighting dogs. So as I ask again...what can I do to get rid of them. NO police help or animal control...who's next in line for a phone call?

Dog training - Dog is overly excited around other dogs and people.?

We have a 8 month old Labrador that becomes very excited when walking past other dogs at the park or around people in general. Her behavior is pulling, jumping while on the leach, and barking. She will not calm down and is very embarrassing. Especially around neighbors. We went to 8 training classes (at Petsmart), in which we used treats to try and distract her while around other people or dogs, but this did not stop the behavior.
She is well mannered around the house and knows commands like sit, lay down and stay, but she will not listen, and acts crazy (not aggressive, even though it may appear to be aggression from other person view) like wanting attention. Kind of like a child throwing a temper tantrum.
I have check prices on trainers that come to your home and the cheapest is $50 per hour. Which could be a lot of money, for me, if we need to have several sessions.
Please suggest any training techniques that will stop this behavior, where she will be obedient around other dogs and people.
Thank you.

Why are dogs put down after one incident of biting? Isn't it possible it was the person's fault?

Most dog attack’s are the fault of the human. Simple as that. There is no such thing as a bad dog (unless it has behavioural issues), only a bad owner.A dog will follow in the foot steps of its owner, inheriting their attitude. For example, if the human is aggressive, the dog will most likely be aggressive. If the human is kind and loving, the dog will most likely be kind and loving.I saw a post a few months ago on Facebook where a persons dog had bitten the face of a child. The child had come running over without asking and started sticking their fingers up the dogs nose. The dog cannot talk, therefore will retaliate in the only way he possibly can be certain to remove the attacker. Biting. The family of the child sued the man for 3000 dollars for rabies shots plus 600 dollars for themselves.I for one thought it was absolutely shameful and parents should teach their children not to annoy a dog or run over and touch it without asking. So to answer your question, yes. People are stupid with animals and I think everyone should be educated on the basics of animals and how not to treat them resulting in attacks, I also think there should be an individual class for how to treat animals in schools because quite frankly, a lot of parents are doing an awful job of teaching their children to respect animals, causing attacks and having dogs like Pit Bull Terriers banned. There is another way to look at it, still being the same answer. If an aggressive dog attacks for no reason, then the owner should keep control of the dog and take the necessary precautions, knowing that the dog is aggressive, and should not be let off the leash at least without a muzzle. If a dog is a stray and attacks, then, again, it is the humans fault for releasing or losing the dog. So in any situation, it is a humans fault if a dog attacks.I hope this adequately answered your question. Xx

Do you think violent breeds of dogs like pit bulls and Rottweilers should be banned?

First of all, there is no violent breed. They can be trained to be aggressive, or defensive to protect. Unfortunately, because they possess certain abilities that can be focused on to create fear in people; the mindset of the owner is responsible for that, but otherwise, no breed is a “violent" breed. Now, individual dogs and/or circumstances and home environment can play key roles in the behavior of an individual animal. All dogs can become dangerous in certain circumstances.I personally have spent a great deal of my life around most “ aggressive" breeds, ( Dobie, shepherd, rottie and pits). They are all sweet, lovable, affectionate breeds, loyal to owner, and usually very protective of their “ pack",( the family they live with). Anyone who has a Chihuahua will tell you that THEY are one of the most aggressive and dangerous breeds, but the size fools our minds! I have, over the years, become a huge pitbull advocate, because of knowing the breed, and how the owners are who are responsible for giving them a bad name. It is sickening and heartbreaking to see the number of pitties that are owned by abusive monsters, that WANT to make them aggressive. Some do become so, but just as many cannot be made to, and they become garbage to said owner and are discarded in disgusting ways, murdered, or beaten and left to die! Especially where they are illegally owned. This is where it all goes very wrong.Anyway, I beg you to EDUCATE yourself on these “violent" breeds, from the right sources who specialize in raising, rehabilitating, fostering and rehoming these dogs. You will hopefully come to know that they are unfairly discriminated against, and as the saying goes “ DONT BAN THE BREED, BAN THE OWNER". Thats what we should be focusing on.Thanks for reading.
