Can An Ordained Minister Marry Themselves

Can an ordained minister marry themselves?

can an ordained minister or anyone who is of clergy or able to officiate a wedding marry themselves to their future spouse?

obviously I am asking this question knowing nothing about the church or church leaders, so if you can also correct me with those facts i'd appreciate it

What do you call an Ordained Minister?

What title would you give someone who has been ordained in a Christian ministry? What would they be called by someone who wants them to perform a marriage ceremony? Are they called Reverend, Pastor or Minister? Such as Pastor Joe Smith, Reverend Joe Smith, or Minister Joe Smith, or do they have a title like that at all?

I have a friend who was recently ordained, so I have questions like this for another friend of mine who doesn't know him and she is getting married. She would like to talk to him, but doesn't know how to address him, and I haven't been able to get a hold of him yet to ask. Does anyone know??

Thanks!

Can a retired minister marry us in Pennsylvania?

We're getting married next summer. We want to have a retired minister from my fiance's church marry us. We looked up the marriage law and it states:

"General rule.--The following are authorized to solemnize marriages between persons that produce a marriage license issued under this part: 1. A justice, judge or district justice of this Commonwealth. 2. A former or retired justice, judge or district justice of this Commonwealth who is serving as a senior judge or senior district justice as provided or prescribed by law. 3. An active or senior judge or full-time magistrate of the District Courts of the United States for the Eastern, Middle or Western District of Pennsylvania. 4. An active or senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit who is a resident of this Commonwealth. 5. A mayor of any city or borough of this Commonwealth. 6. A minister, priest or rabbi of any regularly established church or congregation. (b) Religious organizations.--Every religious society, religious institution or religious organization in this Commonwealth may join persons together in marriage when at least one of the persons is a member of the society, institution or organization, according to the rules and customs of the society, institution or organization."

I called the Prothonotary's Office in the county where our wedding will be and they said they were not sure - although the lady I talked to said that they had a religious minster who was retired that occasionally performed weddings for their office. The minister in question for my wedding has been retired for a little over a year and no longer attends the same church where he used to be the head minister - he attends a different church now and as far as I know doesn't preach or anything there.

Do people who breed snakes ever have ordained ministers perform weddings for them even though they can't communicate vows to reserve themselves only for each other?

Anthropomorphism is increadibly easy to do with our animal friends. They do at times mimmic our behaviour…dogs smiling for instance has been postulated to occur b/c dogs understand that a smile from us means “happy”.Monogamy is not only a human trait…there are more than just a few instances of animals who mate for life…it is why i cannot enjoy lobster. I believe flamigos do monogamy better than many humans too. There are others too…i leave that research up to you…b/c i can,t remember the others i have heard of at this time.Tasmanian devils?

Besides a minister or a magistrate, who else can marry people?

Judges, Justice of the Peace, Mayors Priests, Rabbis, Priestesses.

And no, ship captains CANNOT marry people.

In PA you do not need a clergy to marry you but you must make special arrangements when applying for the license.

In Colorado a couple can also marry themselves thru special arrangements, but family or friends cannot do it for them.

Can an ordained minister perform their own wedding ceremony?

If you're already married, doesn't matter what you do. You could have your dog officiate a ceremony at your kitchen sink.

Can rabbis/priest/ministers have sex before marriage, if they can get married at all?

In the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church (some Eastern Rites too), a priest must be celibate. A man can, after his wife passes and his children are capable of caring for themselves, join the priesthood. Or in the cases of Anglican/Episcopal clergy that have converted and become priests, be married and have children while serving the Church, but this is a special dispensation granted by the Holy See. In the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church, men who are married may become priests, but no priest in the Church is allowed to marry once he is ordained.

As an ordained minister is it possible to officiate your own wedding?

I have to view this subject under a broader perspective.Marriage is a contract between A and B and the function is mere symbolism for others but for them(BRIDE AND GROOM) it needs legal validity. The need for presence of any legally authorized individual or individuals, depends upon legal necessity for legalizing such contract., validating it with witnesses in the presence of the authorized person (the minister in a church),a priest in a Temple or a Moulavi for the followers of Islam.Any law will say that the perpetrator (who causes the action) or the affected(the victim or beneficiary) can not be the witness, to validate the CONTRACT!Without witnessing the contract is not considered valid. Even cross witnessing is not a legally valid witnessing.(The groom can not witness the signature of the bride or vice versa).Even though the deity of a temple is considered as a legal entity for many legal purposes including taxation, such legal “PERSON” is not authorized to be taken as a valid WITNESS. Many people go to a temple, and do some rituals like exchanging garland and declare “themselves” man and woman saying GOD IS WITNESS, but that is NOT accepted by law. This is the basic principle around the world.PS: Solemnizing word used usually means only conducting the ceremony.Performance is by the Bride and Groom, of executing an agreement ,may be Vocally or by signing a deed. The minister (since he is ORDAINED) is a witness to execution, representing the law of the country. Some laws may insist on other 2 independent witnesses (not relatives) also for other legal reasons.
