having an 88 or and Hiel Hitler or a MS13 or specifically in Southern Indiana (home of the modern Klu Klux Klan) a KKK tatoo may keep you out.

Can I be a cop If i have tattoos?

Ok, I am 18 years old, I study Law Enforcement as my major at Western Illinois University. I have 7 tattoos, 4 visible on my arm... I want to know if i can get a job as a police officer without covering them up all the time. I saw on cops a cop with a big tatt on his arm, and I have heard people (friends who don't know what they are talking about) say things like "you cant be a cop with those tatts," but i was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this or where they allow or dont allow, or really just anything about this topic... anything helps guys, thanks a lot!

Can Cops have Tattoos?

With a majority of policies, any visible tattoo that can be seen must be covered up. If you have one on your arm you will have to wear long sleeves even in the summer time. Now NJSP wears long sleeves all year around, but other agencies can opt for short sleeves during warmer seasons. It is not so much the tattoo as it is placement. Granted that have hateful meanings or racially pretentious tendencies might hold you back. In your case those two tattoos shouldn't be an issue. You just might have to spend some extra time in the AC in the patrol car.

Can cops have tattoos on their hands and neck?

I just found out I have an istj personality type and law enforcement falls under this type. I have a tattoo on the left side of my neck and another one on my hand. I have 3 other tattos on my right forearm and my upper left and right arm. None of them are gang related or explicit. Would I be able to become a cop with body art on me?

Why do cops have so many tattoos these days? Is it so they blend in with the thugs for undercover work?

Nope. Many young people have ink these days, cops come from the society at-large.

Can cops have full sleeve tattoos?

There are three kinds of departments.

1.) Departments which allow visible tattoos.
2.) Departments which do not allow visible tattoos.
3.) Departments who do not allow visible tattoos, but will allow you to cover them (by wearing long sleeve uniforms) year round while you are on duty.

Can a police ask you if you got any tattoos?

As previously mentioned, of course. If you are arrested, they are obligated to. Scars marks and tattoos are recorded with your finger prints.

Can you have tattoos if you work for the FBI?

Yes, you can have tattoos if you work for the FBI. While having tattoos is not the most common practice in the FBI, some employees do indeed have tattoos. There have been Special Agents that have sleeves and other large tattoos, however, out of the minority of employees that do have tattoos, the majority of these individuals have smaller tattoos. If you have not already gotten a tattoo, I would advise you to make it smaller (not some large, abstract design). While there is not a mandatory size, shape or length of a tattoo that you can have, smaller tattoos are easier to cover up and would look more professional in the FBI’s workplace environment. It is best to refrain from tattoos on overly visible parts of the body (face, neck and hands) and instead focus on parts of the body that can be covered up easily (arms, legs, back, chest, etc). While the stigma about tattoos has lessened over the years, depending on who you work with (and for) it may be looked down upon if not out-right prohibited. Since the FBI has no policy against tattoos, you are free to get one or several. However, since you work with or interested in working with the federal government, make sure that your tattoo choices are tasteful and mature.

Can police officers have tattoos?

Can police officers have tattoos?
I am going to school for criminal justice, and I am very heavily tattooed female, both arms are covered chest, and my knuckles, and neck. I have known for many to have tattoos but I don't know how it all works? would I be able to work in this field ok with this much ink?

Can police officers have tattoos?

It can make an impact on your job options.I know two cops with two full sleeves. It wasn't even mentioned in their interviews. I have a sleeve as well, and have worked for multiple departments with no issue.Having said that, I understand some might demand I wear a sleeve cover, or long sleeves. This is an issue in the summer. I didn't even bother applying for the state police, since they have a no tattoo policy.I got my tattoos before I went into law enforcement. I may have got them done anyway, but I may have worked for other departments. It may be better to wait, get working first, and see where you want to go from there.I personally don't feel inked cops are unprofessional, but I'm biased. In the end its up to you.
