Can Frizzy Hair Get Curled With A Curling Wand

How do I curl my hair using a Curling Iron?

Plug that puppy in and heat it up. If you turn it to a High setting you will have better results. Clamp the bottom ends of your hair and roll all the way up to your scalp. Let it rest for a minute, no more Then the easiest way to remove the iron is to put a little tension on the handle relaxing the hair and gently just remove the irom fully, with hair still curled. Not if your curls have a tendency to "fall" from the weight of your hair, take that curl and wrap it gently around a sponge roller while you do the rest of your hair. Once you have curled and done the sponge rollers. Remove the rollers gentley and softly spray each curl as it is rolled out. Do not touch your hair for at lest 20 minutes. Once you'e finished with each curl and have waited, then if you want you can take a wide tooth comb and move the curls around your face and head and use the hair spray to put them in place. The hardes part in doing this is doing the back. But pracice makes perfect. If you want more "wavy" hair, turn you head upside down and use your fingers to gently bruch (with your fingers) your hair out, a hair dryer will add volume as well. Spray some hair spray on while you head is still upside down, wait a minute for that hairspray to dry, flip up your hair and wa-la! Using a brush on your hair may pull your curls out. You can try it, and just experiment. You'll get the hang of it. Use Aussie products to protect the hair and add moisture. A curling iron is good, but if you use it everyday it will have a tendancy to dry out your hair.

Why does curling my hair make it frizzy and tangled?

When you have your hair curled the number one rule is to comb it as little as possible or use a really wide toothed comb. This is because when you comb it all of the individual curled strands of hair become lose and they get all over the place. The best thing to do is make sure your hair is untangled before you curl it and keep your hair in locks. Also, depending in your hair you can by a gel or mousse kind of thing that will make your curly hair more manageable (but usually people with NATURALLY curled hair use this)

Btw, people comb their hair when it is curled on purpose when they want it to be puffy, lol

Curling wand or curling iron?

This is a very easy question. The answer is curling iron. Which does more damage to hair? They both cause the exact amount of damage. So a curling iron with a clamp will not fry your hair any more than a wand will. Stylsits will use wands because it's a little faster do use when we do someone's hair. Its especially good for updos. Buy we will use a glove on one hand that protects our fingers from the heat. You do NOT want to get a wand if you're doing your own hair. Wands are designed for using on someone else's hair. Trust me, holding your own hair with your fingertips a mere inch away from a 400 degree iron??That is why there is a clamp design. so you don't have to get your fingers near the iron.
Very simple. Get a regular curling iron. But DO get a decent one from your local salon. The ones you can buy at walmart or your local store shouldn't even quality as curling irons. They should be called useless hair fryers.
Hope this helps.

Can i scrunch hair then use curling iron to make it more curly?

of course, i do this a lot on clients and every day on my self. use a med to small iron to do just the ends ofter scrunching or vise versa. i use a goo product after i do the iron then scrunch to give extra texture. have fun and experiment, its the only way you'll know what gives you the look you want. careful with the heat setting, too high on ends will cause more damage.

What does a curling iron do to hair that makes it stay curled?

Your hair is essentially long strands of protein (keratin, specifically). When protein is heated it loses its composition (think of unraveling a tangled ball of string). When you use a curling iron you're heating the protein and "reshaping" to the curling desire you like. This is the same principle to hair straightening. Eventually the hair goes back to its native curly or straight state (that which I cannot explain in detail, I imagine that being left alone long enough the proteins naturally reconfigure themselves). Chemical treatments work under the same principle of essentially denature (unravel) the protein. Someone will probably give a better answer, but I think this is basically what you asked.

What are some tips for using a curling wand?

The most important thing to know is how to use it and what temperature you should set it at. Here is a quote form an article I found that should help you with that:The curling wand/rodThis is an increasingly popular option. The main difference between it and an iron is that wands don’t have clamps and the cord is usually up when you use it. Depending on what type of wand you get, your hair can come off in a cone-like shape or a traditional barrel shape. The curling wands often come with a glove to protect your hand from the heat as you wrap your hair around the wand. You will want to use a little tension so that the hair doesn’t fall down the barrel to the smallest section of the wand. By wrapping the hair, you will get a puffed curl. How hot is hot enoughTemperature matters. Too low of a temperature means that your curls probably won’t hold very long. That being said, putting the temperature too hot won’t necessarily make the curls better, it’ll just scorch your hair. For thin hairIf you have thinner hair, you don’t want to expose it to excessive heat otherwise it could easily get damaged and break off. That is called heat abuse and we don’t want to have to report you for it! It would be best to not set your curling iron much above 200°. (Not all tools come with temp settings. Look for one that does.)For thicker hairYour locks can withstand a little more heat and need more heat for the styling to stick. To solidify those perfect curls, those with thicker hair should set their curling irons to between 200° and 300°.Timing is keyThe length of time that you keep your hair wrapped in the curling iron can dramatically change how your curls come out. For real.5 seconds = loose waves7 seconds = slightly loose curls10+ seconds = tight curlsBefore you do anything, protect that hair!Heat damage is a legit concern when styling hair with any type of heat tool. It is important to invest in a heat-protect spray, serum or cream to defend your hair from frying and becoming frizzy. These protectants will also help replenish moisture that can be lost in the styling process. The main ingredients to look for are silicone. Other helpful ingredients include (but are not limited to): Phytantriol, Polyquaternium -4, hydrolyzed wheat protein and PVP/DMAPA Acrylates Copolymer. You can find a lot more useful info by reading the full article here.
