Can I Draw Unemployment In Texas If I Worked In Mississippi For A Temporary Services

Does a misdemeanor go away? How long does it take?

How long do you have to list it might be a better question. They don't go away. After a certain period of time they are simply not relevant. A misdemeanor a year ago is certainly more ‘serious' than that exact same misdemeanor ten years ago.How long does it need to keep being brought up? That depends on a particular job and its requirements and how the question is asked. But it's always there unless dismissed or expunged or pardoned if someone wants to dig that far and deep into the past.

Can you get fired for missing a day at work because of a death in the family?

I once fired a worker for this reason. It was a beautiful summer's day. The guy called me to say that he wouldn't be able to work the next day as his grandmother had just died and her funeral was the next day. Funerals don't generally happen that fast but I gave him the benefit of doubt. Two days later he came into to work on crutches with his leg in plaster to tell me he'd broken his leg and couldn't work for a few weeks. "What happened?", I asked. "We were at the swimming pool and I slipped and fell"."The funeral was held at the pool?""Funeral? Oh yes. No, this was afterwards. My grandmother loved swimming so the whole family went to the pool after the funeral to celebrate her life"."You all went to the pool after the funeral? Your whole family?","Yes","Andy?","Yes?","There was no funeral, was there?", "No. Should I look for another job?","Yes". Andy's brother was a friend of mine and was very impressed with this incredible show of intelligence.

If someone lives in the state of MS but works in TN, do they pay state taxes to MS or TN?

your tax home is where you work, therefore if you work in Tn that is where you would file your taxes, unless this is a temporary assignment( a year or less)
you would file state in the state you worked, and non resident in the state you did not work--but live

Do dental assistants make good money?enough to live off of?

Dental assisting does pay enough to live on if you don't live a whole hog lifestyle. Hygiene is better because, obviously, you need at least 2 years of schooling to become a hygienist. Depending on what part of the country you live in, if you work for a specialist, if you are certified, registered, length of service, etc. you will make anywhere from about 12 bucks an hour all the way up to 20 or more bucks per hour. Mosts dentists now days like to see at least that technical diploma. Very few want to train someone off the street anymore with no knowledge of dental. But they will take on someone with the dental training that a program provides.

You can certainly start out as an assistant and work your way up to hygiene. I have seen a few assistants do this.

I know one dental clinic in my area that pays a dollar an hour more for certified vs. non-certified assistants. But most dentists do not care whether or not you are certified. I am certified, and I like that because I can go anywhere in the 50 states and work. Some states REQUIRE certification. Others, like my state of WI, do not. I hope this helps.
