Best Portrait Lens for Canon?
Hello I have the canon 100mm L versin macro lens, and the 70-300mm L version Telephoto lens, I saw looked that those lenses are really good in Portrait but i am not sure compared to the other ones. My Aunt told me that the 50mm lens are the best in Portrait, so should i buy one of those? Like the 50mm 1.8 STM or 50mm 1.4 USM? I dont want the 1.2 because is expensive.
Would a 18-55mm lens be sufficient for shooting ice hockey action photos?
Never ever. Everything below 50 mm is wide angle. You will get the typical "all on one"" pictures on which you have the stadium from the right to the left and nobody can say if in the middle they play field hockey or practice figure skating. All photos requiring some action need lenses with at least 200mm, better 300mm focus length. The best choice is 70 - 300mm with image stabilizer. Otherwise you have 10.000 images of 10 people wearing fancy sport outfits and you neighbor with the large focus length will show you a 1/10.0000 sec exposure time knife sharp image having frozen in the face expression of the goal keeper when the puck shot out 2 of his front teeth before breaking his nose.
