Trying to apply for job at Stater Brothers?? 16 help?
I really need all the help i can get. I'm 16 years old living with my dad and we can barely make rent only by borrowing money. And i need do my part; i'd love to work at State Brothers in Norco, Riverside, or corona California. I need to know what to bring, what to say and things to help me get that job. As a reference i have an air/heating co where they'll say i'm currently working for them (i'm really not) but i know the ppl good and they'll help me. Other than that i just need advice. My dad doesn't want me to get a job so he doesn't wanna help me :/ also if yoy've worked there share your experiences. pleaseee help Thanks <3
Did you work as a teen? If so, did they ask you for a work permit?
I was looking forward to my 16th birthday to get a job, but I found out minors require a work permit, and you need to be in school or have passed to get. I can't get one because I'm not in school, so I decided to forget about it. Today when I told my brother about that he told me not all companies ask for a work permit which to me sounded really stupid considering it's the law, but then again he made a great point by saying it's also a law for anyone under 18 to be in school and thousands of people drop out of school. I want to know only from people who *actually* worked as teenagers (no babysitting, family jobs, etc.) if they asked you for a work permit. The jobs I'm talking about is typical teen jobs: Fast food restaurant, car washes, cleaning, theaters, local department stores, anything like that. I want to know if they did or not, and where you worked as well as your job.
My brother is in Canada on a study permit. If he is offered a job in his field, is he eligible to apply for a work permit instead, or must he finish his diploma?
I’m finding it a bit hard to imagine this scenario in concrete terms. Why would your brother quit his studies when presumably the whole reason he’s pursuing them is to be qualified for work in his field? And who would want to hire him before his studies are complete? It doesn’t help that you don’t say what your brother’s field is, but it all seems rather implausible.However, I can tell you that his student visa only permits him to study, not to work and, strictly speaking, not to look for work either. Of course he can make informal contacts with possible employers for the future, but he cannot just hop from student to worker. A work permit for a foreign worker is not to be had at the drop of a hat. The employer is deeply involved in the application and the permit will be for that job only. I don’t think it would be granted to someone already in Canada on a student visa. If he ceases his studies, his student visa lapses and he must leave the country.

Very unlikely. Your student visa will be evaluated based on the academic institution sponsorship and other individual circumstances. More evidence you demonstrate you intend to return to your home country after finishing your course of study in the US, more likely you will have success with your F1 visa application.

My school won't give me a work permit?
I live in Los Angeles in the 10th grade and I'm about to be 16 so I wanted to work so I can waste my money instead of my mums. Lol I go to a public school and asked for a work permit, but this boy (i don't know how old he is but he looked like 20 or something) he told me I need to get hired before my school can give me the work permit, then he said something about for verification reasons. But I thought you needed a work permit to get a job! I think my school has issues because the school I went to in 9th grade was a charter school, and they gave me one. But I threw it away because it's old and I'm pretty sure I filled it out wrong. Anyways, why won't they give me one, and is there a way I can print it out online? Is that illegal? Lol

Hello,First, I assume you're referring to a US B1/B2 visa (or tourist visa)Canada and US are two different countries with different immigration laws, so legally your Canadian status will not affect (or help your ability to travel to US). But, the reality is this: your legal status in Canada *should* help you to be able to obtain a US Visa unless you are a citizen of one of the countries of the travel ban or have any other immigration issue on the past.If you have a work permit it means you have a work in Canada and you have to be back, hence have no reason to overstay your US visa, if approved. Now if you work permit is close to expires then a US official could think you're trying to get a visa as an option in case you can't renew your work permit and would move to US. The reality is don't worry to much, go and apply to your US visa and go visit US becuase if you could convince the Canada immigration that you could be move to theor contry for several years and after the end of your contract you would leave the country I think you can easily prove you want to visit US only as a visitor and won't overstay your visa.As an additional note I did for my brother the opposite of what you want to do, he has US visitor visa and want to travel with me to Canada and when I filled his form in the questionnaire it has a question asking ifvyou have US visa and the documents to submit get shelve in half he doesn't have to present bank letter, proof of work nor anything. Only to fill the immi form, passport, photos and copy of the visa. So, if Canada makes it easier for US visa holder to travel to Canada, I really believe US does the same for Canadian visitor (of course that just my opinion and not a fact) don't worry too much you should be fine
Minor working without a work permit?
There is no such thing as a "work permit" for dishwashers. Not all jobs require work permits. And at 15 you can work more then 3 hours a day.
Can my brother apply for a working visa or a student visa if he came through a visitor visa?
Working visas ? Probably if there is a great company that can sponsor him and hire good immigration lawyer to change his status on time. But working as non skill worker ? Not a chance. But most likely you got to go back to your home country to apply for work visa. STUDENT VISA ? SURE !, show any reputable US colleges tons of cash they can help you out. But no money ? Sorry, no honey and no talk ! No dinero, you no amigo.
