Upgrade vista to windows 7 using anytime upgrade?

Anytime Upgrade only works for upgrading to a further version of the same OS so far as I know. If you want to get to Windows 7 from Vista, you will have to buy a Windows 7 Upgrade Disc.

Depending on your current setup, Windows can do an install-in-place (no format required). You will be running Windows 7 after the upgrade is done, and your old Vista files will be in a file called Windows.old.

I did the upgrade from Vista Ultimate x86 to 7 Pro x64 when Windows 7 when it came out. It only took about 35 minutes start to finish if I remember right.

Restore your system first. If you dont want that message to appear again do the follwing

Go to control pannel, action center, security, click change settings.
Select let me choose, never check for updates.

Note: Dont ever send error reports ( turn off error reporting )

Set the reservable bandwidth to zero

for that go to run type gpedit.msc and press enter.
When group policy opens choose administrative templates>Network>Qos Packet>limit reservable bandwith>select zero>apply>ok.

Help with Windows Anytime Upgrade?

I have a very slow internet connection. If I download something, it never goes above 30 kbps! Yeah don't laugh, I use it only because it's free :D. My question is, if I use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade my Windows 7 Starter OS to Windows 7 Ultimate, how long will it take?

Window Anytime Upgrade Key from Product key?

My Acer Aspire One D270 come preloaded with Window 7 Starter. However, using that basic Starter has lots of problems after using Ultimate for a long time on my desktop. I am thinking of upgrading my notebook to Ultimate as I have a Win 7 Ultimate DVD with my notebook fulfilling the minimum requirement for having an Ultimate edition of Window 7 (1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and 320 GB HDD). But if I used the DVD to install the new OS, I would lost many softwares that comes preloaded with the notebook. I find that using Window Anytime Upgrade will simply upgrade the Starter to a higher level without losing any data, but to do that, I need an Upgrade Key which I don't have. In the Ultimate DVD I have only the product key. So my question in short is "Is there any way to get Upgrade Key from Product Key?"

Using Windows Anytime Upgrade Key to get Genuine?

I got a message telling me that my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate is not genuine (should never have trusted my now ex-friend). I did the validation check and Microsoft's website says I can upgrade to a legal copy of Home Premium for $109. However, I was wondering if I can use a Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade to not only upgrade to Home Premium, but to make myself legal as well. Does anyone know if I get a boxed copy of a Windows 7 upgrade will get me genuine, will it just upgrade me to Home Premium and still make me not genuine, or will it not work at all? Please let me know! Thanks!

Should I backup before performing a Windows Anytime Upgrade?

Also, after the upgrade, will it require me to activate the software/operating system like you would when you've clean installed an Operating System onto a machine? Like, for example, with windows xp, there would be a constant message reminding you to activate/register the software? Wondering because when I had windows XP a few years ago, I purchased Windows Vista Home Premium, and Installed it, everything was fine, but the Activation just didn't seem to work; so will this upgrade require me to Activate the Software?
