Are postal carriers allowed to walk across my lawn and through my flower beds when delivering my mail?

We have a paved walkway from the street to my front door, yet he ignores the paved walkway and instead walks across our lawn and through a flower bed every single day! We have asked him politely to please respect our property and the great deal of effort we expend in order to keep our landscaping healthy and pretty. He gives us a nasty attitude and says things like "Carriers have been walking through peoples lawns for as long as there has been mail delivery". And the next day he's walking across the lawns and beds again. He will not stop. Am I being somehow unreasonable? Do I not have a right to insist he use the paved walkways that everyone else who ever visits our home uses? What would you do? I can't help but be appalled by his blatant disrespect.

Can the postal carrier freely walk through my yard?

Itsounds as if the postal worker is a government employee. That type of B--- Sh-- is the type of thing they pull. they want top dollar for their job, but aren't willing to do their job properly.
I think you have three choices
First put an automatic sprinkler in that just covers enough ground that the postman must walk around.
or second File a small claims law suit against both the actual postal delivery guy and one against his superviser.
One other thing YES they do have the right to come to your door, But not they can't make their own path.
STAND YOUR GROUND
Third (and the correct action) everybody has a boss, the delivery guy has a supervisor. The superviser has a boss, and the boss has a boss. Contact each in one after the other, Hand them each a letter stating your problem and a stating that you have asked to have this problem solved.
One of two things will happen. The problem will be solved very quickly or you will end up sending a letter to Bush. I'll bet once the superviser learns your going to go over his or her head it will be solved immediately

Is there a way to trace the sender of an anonymous letter?

Only if the police felt that something in the letter was illegal -- and the person's fingerprints would have to also be in the law enforcement system somewhere. But considering how many hands a letter goes through from the sender's mail box to yours, it would be almost impossible to trace the person. Think about the mail carrier at the sender's mailbox who touched it to put in the bag, then at least 2 people at the sorting facility in the sender's city, then the people in the sorting facility in your area, then your local postal carrier before it gets to you

US Postal Service bent my college diploma - can I force them to pay for another?

I recently graduated from UCF with my Bachelor's, and after my years of hard work to get my diploma, the USPS decided to force it into my mailbox. The envelope was stiff and said "DIPLOMA: DO NOT BEND."

I didn't work hard to have this thing ruined. Can I force the Postal Service to buy a new one from my school? I heard that there's some sort of law that states if the house is within a reasonable distance from the mailbox, and a package doesn't fit, the postman is required to deliver it to the door. Obviously, this didn't happen. Does anyone know if this law is real and where I can find info on it?

Thanks for your help, everyone.

Can a mail carrier refuse to deliver because of a dog?

Ok so I know that a mail carrier has the right to refuse to deliver mail to a resident if the mail carrier finds the dog as a potential threat, but can the mail carrier refuse delivery if the dog is locked safely inside the house but is barking? Our mailbox is on the porch and the storm door is left open for our dog to lay and look outside, but the mail carrier has not delivered mail to our house for the last two weeks. According to her the dog barks when she walks up on the porch and it scares her. She has also complained about our sunflowers that grow on the left side of the walkway last summer. Her reason for refusing to deliver our mail that time was that she was afraid that a bee might sting her. I just need some clarity on this. Is the mail carrier right for doing this or is she just a constant complainer. Thx
