AWARDED FED PELL GRANT BUT DIDN'T PAY TUITION.?

AWARDED PELL GRANT FOR 2010-2011 YEAR AS WELL AS A STUDENT ACCESS AWARD FOR $1000. BASED ON ME BEING ENROLLED 3/4 TIME THE PELL WILL ONLY COVER $2000 THIS SEMESTER. I ALSO WAS APPROVED FOR A STUDENT LOAN WICH IS NOT BEING DISBURSED TO ME FOR 30 DAYS. ACCORDING TO FINANCIAL AID DPT. THAT DOES NOT AFFECT MY PELL AT ALL. SO MY QUESTION IS, WITH MY TUITION BEING $700 WHY DID MY PORTION OF $2000 PELL GRANT ONLY PAY FOR $300 OF MY TUITION? AND WHAT ABOUT MY STUDENT ACCESS AWARD?

Can you receive a stafford loan if you get a pell grant?

Yes you can receive stafford loan and Pell grant, if you qualify. You must speak to a financial aid adviser since every school differ in their policies. The federal student loan (Stafford and Perkin) are need base. They will give you what you need to cover your education and related expenses, IF you qualify. But yeah they can give you Pell along with student loans, IF you qualify. IF the amount of aid you qualify for is not enough, try a private student loan which are credit base. Generally, base on the SAR report, the school wont give you extra money if they decide that you dont need that.

Are Pell Grants free money?

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are awarded usually only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree. (In some cases, however, a student enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Pell Grant.) Pell Grants are considered a foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added.

What happens if I take only 8 credit hours with pell grant?

For the Pell Grant, the minimum is 1 credit hour.

Award amounts are based on full-time enrollment (12 or more hours) and will be prorated based on your actual level of enrollment.

12+ hours will receive 100% of the award
9-11 hours will receive 75% of the award
6-8 hours will receive 50% of the award
3-5 hours will receive 25% of the award
1-2 hours will receive 25% of the award
