In a yu-gi-oh duel, What cards can be used to defeat Obelisk the Tormentor?
I am dueling and my opponent is using Obelisk the Tormentor and I want to know which cards can be used to destroy it . Also Can I use cards the say select one of your opponents cards and take control for that turn.? Ty let me know what all the rules are applied to that card we are new to it Vicky

To summon Obelisk The Tormentor you must tribute 3 monsters. The summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is normal summoned spells, traps and effect monster effects cannot be activated, this card cannot be be targeted by card effects. You can tribute 2 monsters on that you control to destroy all monsters your opponent controls, if you use this effect then this card cannot attack this turn. When this card is special summoned then it is destroyed at the end of the turn. To normal summon him, like the other gods, he requires 3 tributes. When he is summoned, it can't be prevented so don't waste your card. He also cannot be targeted by card effects so it makes destroying him even more of a difficult task. When he is normal summoned spells, traps, and effect card effects cannot be activated, though it is only until the end of the turn. (So you got 2 options on killing him: brute force or cards that don't have a specific target like dark hole and lightning vortex) The controller can tribute 2 of their own monsters then clear the opponent's monster zone but Obelisk won't be able to attack until the next turn so the controller would have to have 4 monsters on the field to make at least 1 strike. What they mean by he is destroyed at the end of the turn is because of the cards like symbols of duty or monster reborn which have the ability to revive a monster from the graveyard. I recommend you deck a burden of the mighty so your cards are stronger than the opponents and your monsters could sustain until you bring out your god card. Hope this helps, good luck.
What is a good Obelisk the Tormentor deck?
There's a few different ways to pull it off, but here's my take on it when I tried it. I ran at least two copies of obelisk since he was my main win condition. And therefore was work planning a back up. The next thing I included was mound of the Bound Creator, a nice field spell for anyone running high level monsters, as it helps protect the from card effects, three copies of that. There's also three copies of Ra's desciple to make getting him out easier, but in general you want to special summon like crazy with this deck to build up the tributes. But other than those tips, there's really only three things your deck needs to do consistently to be successful.Fetch obelisk into your hand from your deckStall and build materials to get him out ASAPKeep him out with standard protection like mirror force and sekuretsu armor, magic cylinder, etc.Do these three things consistently and you'll most likely succeed. That's the general science behind any successful obelisk/God card deck.

since when you special summon obelisk the tormentor he dies at the end phase can you use star dust dragons effect to stop obelisk from being destroyed/ also can you bring obelisk back with monster reborn or call of the haunted?

the order preceding mine is correct but since none of the three are tournament legal it is difficult to weigh them since they have no official effects. From what the show says and how I play this is their effects: Ra: If this card is special summoned from the graveyard it is returned to the graveyard during the end phase of the turn that it was special summoned. The atk and def of this card is equal to the atk and def of the 3 tributed monsters(respectively). This card is not affected by the spell cards, trap cards, or the effects of monsters. This card's controller can pay all but 1 lifepoint to increase the atk and def of this card by the amout of lifepoints paid. Slifer: (X000 means 1000 for every card in the hand) If this card is special summoned from the graveyard it is returned to the graveyard during the end phase of the turn that it was special summoned. This card is not affected by spell or trap cards as long as it remains face up on the field. When your opponent normal summons, flip summons, or special summons a monster in face up attack position if the monster's atk is equal to or less than 2000 it is automatically destroyed; if its atk is greater than 2000 the monster loses 2000 atk. Obelisk: If this card is special summoned from the graveyard it is returned to the graveyard during the end phase of the turn that it was special summoned. This card is not affected by the effects of monsters or spell cards. When this card is face up on the field its controller can sacrifice 2 monsters on the field to destroy all monsters on the opponent's field and inflict 4000 to the opponent's lifepoints.
I have a question about Yugioh Obelisk the Tormentor?
According to the card its a normal monster. Its atk and def can only de/increase with equip cards etc and it should be able to stay in the field during the duel including if normal summoned

While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps or Monsters that designate a target. By offering 2 Monsters on your Field as Tributes, all Monsters on your opponent's Field are destroyed. so yeah compare i think slifer is better
