Can the Wii U play GameCube discs?
I've been wanting to purchase a wii u for my family and I for sometime now. One of the things I like about the Wii that we currently have is that we can play our Nintendo GameCube games on it as well. I wanted to know if I can sell our Wii and still be able to play those games or if we should keep the original wii. If someone could answer it would be greatly appreciated!

The Wii u is only backwards compatible with Wii games. Unlike the Wii that could play GC games, the Wii u doesn't. How would you plug in the GC controllers if there are no slots/ports for them and the memory cards?

How exactly did you "uninstall Dios Mios"? MIOS is one of the system files in the Wii that lets you play GameCube games. There is only one MIOS (where there are many Wii IOSs (and cIOSs in modded systems). When you installed Dios Mios, you overwrote the original MIOS. If you truly "uninstalled" Dios Mios, you now have no MIOS, which is why you cannot play GameCube games. Instead, you need to reinstall MIOS v10, which can be downloaded from here: http://url.llaffer.com/miosv10 Reinstalling MIOSv10 will overwrite Dios Mios just as installing Dios Mios overwrote the original MIOS when you installed that the first time. No, sorry. They removed it because the Gamecube is too old, apparently? Honestly, that makes zero sense. Old 1989 Game Boy cartridges could be played on the Game Boy Advance SP, which was released in 2003, so why can’t a 2012 console play discs for a 2001 console?IN SHORT: Do NOT throw out your Wii or Gamecube thinking that the Wii U is backwards compatible with Gamecube discs. The GameCube uses a sort of mini-DVD format for its games, while the Switch uses small cartridges (necessary since using a laser disk reader in a portable console isn't a good idea).As for re-releases, no GameCube games (to my knowledge) have been ported to the Switch and Virtual Console is yet to exist (Neo-Geo isn't a Nintendo thing). Hopefully the new Virtual Console will be akin to consoles past and allow purchase of games, unlike the monthly rental system they seem to be going with now.Note that GameCube controllers are compatible with the system through the Wii U adaptors.
