Can You Give Me Proverbs Of Confucius

What do these Confucius sayings mean?

1) Not properly using what you learned is bad, Doing something without the knowledge to do it is worse.

2) Don't worry about something that has already happened. Put it behind you.

3) Wrong is wrong no matter why it is wrong.

What is the Chinese for "Let the ruler be a ruler and the subject be a subject" from Confucius? Can this be used as a proverb in modern speech?

I think it’s more like:Original: 君君臣臣Literal meaning:A ruler should behave like a ruler; for example, to be embodied with qualities such as wise, caring, etc.A subject should behave like a subject, namely to be loyal, to be bold enough to point out the wrongs of the ruler, etc.Confucius’ point:Only when everyone plays their roles properly and well will the the society be a harmonious one. : )P.S. I think it would be nice to use it as a quote in modern speech and/or writing!

Compare Confucius quote with Bible Verse help?

For my Comparative Religions class, i have to be able to compare and show how these two phrases are similar (Confucius quote) "What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others"/ (Bible Verse) "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." I know both basically have to do with the golden rule but my teacher wants me to go more in depth (whatever that means) any help???

Please tell me the meaning of the proverb "to err is human to forgive is divine"?

That wronging someone is easy, but forgiving is even harder.

Basically only those who are pure can attain such quality.

CHINESE PROVERB CAN YOU TRANSLATE THIS FOR ME?

知者不言言者不知
zhizhe buyan yanzhe buzhi

It's a quote from Confucius; it's "Those who know do not speak; those who speak do not know."
It refers to the all-too-human habit of showing off one's knowledge; Confucius is saying that if you really and truly know something, you don't feel the need to go around proclaiming it.

Did Confucius really say: "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves"?

The question is, did Confucius say “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves”?The above aphorism is misattributed. There is no record of any such saying in the canon. Though it is quoted extensively by Western authors from Lillet Walters to Ian McEwan, its attribution to Confucius or Confucianism is spurious, and may not even be Chinese in origin. In cautioning the reader against revenge, the above quote seems in line with many other things we attribute to Confucius in the Four Books. Unfortunately, just like there is no evidence he ever said, “I’m hungry”, or “Ouch! That hurt!”, the attribution is plausible but ultimately lacking substantial evidence. Two answers by Quora users Stone Chen and Liat Lim provide some good analysis of this quote in another question:What did Confucius mean when he stated ‘Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves’?What we know of Confucius comes primarily from the Analects, but other quotes/ideas attributed to him can be found in the Four Books. Aside from the Analects, these include The Doctrine of the Mean, The Great Learning, and Mencius. The Four Books are the earliest record of the disciples of Confucius and are considered our best source of information on Confucius. For further discussion on personal conduct within the actual tradition, I recommend reading The Doctrine of the Mean, attributed to Confucius’ grandson, Zisi 子思. This short book is thought to condense the moral aspect of the tradition into ethical imperatives that are relatively coherent in comparison with the Analects. At its root, The Doctrine of the Mean is an exhortation to not allow emotions to cloud one’s judgement.Consider the passage below:“喜怒哀樂未發謂之中,發而皆中節謂之和. 中也者, 天下之大本; 和也者,天下之達道也.”“Prior to the arousal of the emotions is called equilibrium. When the emotions are kept in line with equilibrium, it is called harmony. Equilibrium is the root of the world; harmony, the attainment of the Way.”In a nutshell, I think this is saying that we should always try our best to come from a balanced emotional state. Even when our emotions challenge our reason, they must be kept in check for the sake of attaining and preserving harmonious relations. For more, you can read Prof. Robert Eno’s translation of The Doctrine of the Mean here:http://www.indiana.edu/%7Ep374/D...

What is the real origin of the proverb “If you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both”?

Find: That is one: Confucius or Romanian Proverb. To Do or Not To Do? That is the Questionwhat do you do when the two rabbits separate and go different directions? If you are following one in preference to the other, you ignore the other and follow your rabbit. If you are still trying to following both, the tendency is to try to follow both, and split the difference between their paths. That leads to you going straight when one went left and the other went right. In short, chasing both means you loose both.—The rabbit conundrum is an illustration of a failure to decide. The word decide has the same Latin root as scissors and incision – to cut. In this case, you are cutting off debate and selecting one of the options available to you, and cutting off the other routes. In short, you commit your focus and your action to the path you have chosen. If you aren’t certain, if you have not committed, if your decision is not firm, you face the rabbit dilemma. What will you do when you have an option open up? You will have to make another decision, and lose time, and probably both opportunities. That doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind. But you should make a strong case that what you are doing is no longer in your best interests, and that you should be pursuing a different rabbit. But stay focused on your rabbit, or you will be forever chasing and never catching. And that doesn’t sound like fun to me.We are often ‘stuck’ in analysis paralysis, and that has to stop. We will almost never have all the information we need to make a perfect decision. We must do our best to find out what we can, and then decide. Yes, we need to monitor things, and make sure we notice any signs of trouble. We are faced with decisions all the time. Choosing wisely is not always easy, but choices must be made. Even choosing not to decide is a choice, right? Take your time, pick a rabbit, and chase it. If it turns out to be too fast, then choose another rabbit. But for as long as you are chasing that rabbit, no other rabbits exist. If you hop from one rabbit to another, all you will end up with is very sore feet. Gather info. Think. Decide. Focus. Act. Review. Repeat.
