Can You Ride A Longboard In The Winter

Should i longboard or skateboard?

I personally find longboarding more suited to what I want to do. Im do not see kickflips as anything big, but I find a true rush in bomb hillls or parking garages.
Since you are just cruising, I recommend a longboard. If you want to just cruise flatland, a flexy board will give you a nicer carve, while a stiffer board is much more stable for bombing hills.
I would recommend you trying getting a 36" - 38" board. $40 - $100 is really not going to get you much. You are much better off spending a little more $130ish.
NordBoards is not the best site, and their parts are not the best, but they have a decent price. You get what you pay for.
This would be an okay flexy deck to start with

Here is a decent downhill type setup

This seems to be an okay cruise setup too:

I highly recommend this board if you are willing to spend a little more:

To be good at longboard/skateboarding will take some time. Some people can easily step on a board and ride around, while others dont have balance immediately and it might take a while just to learn to cruise. It look my friend a month to really learn to ride, but he doesnt have as much passion to riding as I would. Learning tricks on either will take practice (lots), while would be fun if you enjoy what you are doing. I find that longboarding doesnt focus on tricks as much, thus having a more welcoming community that just doesnt push people or make them feel bad for not being able to do tricks.

If i can longboard can i snowboard? ?

Let's take a look at the physics involved in both:

Long boarding works with a surface that interacts directly with your wheels. This means that you will less likely lose the grip you have on your board.

In Snowboarding, you have to work with a metal strip on the edge of your board for turning since you have no friction and have to create your own groove in the snow to travel on.

In conclusion: Yes, the transition will be easier this time, but there are still different physical variables you will be working with that your body will adapt to.

Have Fun!

What are ideal condition to ride longboard surfing. wave size?

Somebody gave you some bad information. When I started surfing in 1966, there wasn't anything else but longboards. And, these were not the modern longboards with all of the modern design features, lighter materials and improved fin systems, they were logs. And guys surfed some VERY VERY BIG waves on them. Look at the picture on the link, and then read a little about some of the surfing legends. In the past few years, I have ridden my 9'4" on several overhead days, and had a blast doing it. http://www.legendarysurfers.com/surf/leg...

How to ride penny board on cracks?

I live in an urban city so the side walks are pretty bad. I've seen other kids ride their boards just so smoothly, and I would really like to ride mine before winter hits. Any suggestions?

My wheels are also a decent size.

How do you fix squeaky wheels on a longboard?

No no no! please do not spray WD-40, that will work for a few days then will ruin the barrings. What you need to do is soak the barrings in any kind of degreaser. If you were to spray your wheels with a WD-40, it will be lubed and smooth but in just a few days of riding, the barrings will accumulate a lot of muck. But if you were to spray, or better soak, your barrings with degreaser it will not only take of all the yucky stuff of your barrings, it will help prevent more muck from going on to your barrings.

After soaking in degreaser soak it in some alcohol. The over the counter ones should be fine.

Longboard to practice for snowboarding?

I snowboard about every day in winter, I also skateboard.. and i'm perfectly comfortable and decent at both, I have rode my friends long board several times, its different than snowboarding thats for sure, but its definitally going to help you with balance. They are really fun, easy to ride as long as your on a smooth area, [avoid hills at first, and make sure you're trucks are not too loose at first, as going down hills with loose trucks will cause speed wobble and you might fall!] I'd definitally reccomend one, since my balance cant really be improved, since i'm used to all of them, i can't say how much it will help, but it definitally will get you used to controling a board and balance, carving will be different but just gaining confidence and speed will help you alot when it comes back to snowboarding..

If you are looking for a longboard, heres some advice..
Don't go out and buy the best one, you wont need it trust me!
This is a typical long board
http://proskateboardshop.com/images/PADANG.jpg
like that, or with a rounded tail, that's what i would reccomend, a shape like that.. its the widest and easiest to cruise around on, shorter ones are for tricks and other things..

Sector 9 is a good company , you can buy completes of theirs [complete's include trucks wheels and everything!] for around 150$ and up..

If you just want the basic cheapest go to www.blankdecks.com

and build a longboard online for about 79.00 which everything is just standard, but for your uses you wont even notice.

I hope this helped!
If it did, best answer would be appriciated, any other questions post them on here and i will answer!
