Can I re-charge car battery while its still connected in car?
I don't want to take the battery out as there is some kind of tube connected to it. Have bought a battery charger and want to know if I could just charge it up without disconnecting anything. Car is a Passat 1600 1997 R. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can but it won't do much of anything unless it has a 55 amp start cycle and then they still don't do much, best bet is to let it charge on the 2 amp for a day that will give it a full deep charge, also try spraying some either into the intake to give it a quick start, if its carburated and you don't have either try dumping about a half a shot to shot of gas down the carb for the initial start and play with the throttle to keep it running
Can you start a atv with a battery charger?
im supposed to be getting a atv with the next hr or so. its a 2006 200cc powermax 5 speed. he said the battery is dead and it has a slow leak in one tire. but i WaNt to hear it run before i go thru with the deal, so if i were to hook my 12v car battery charger up to it will it start??
Charging a car battery without the car.?
I have a dead car battery but no live car to charge it. I do have a charger that connects to a power outlet and the battery has been removed from the car. My questions are, do I have to ground the charger as I would normally with the dead car by clamping the negative end to a metal surface? Or can I just connect red with red and black with black? And once it does get charged, how safe is it to reattach to the car? This may be a fairly inane question but won't I get shocked when reattaching the metal terminals to the battery using a metal tool? Thank you.
Charging a car/truck battery - can I start the engine while it's charging?
I have acquired a used '98 Ford Ranger pick-up and after getting the registration and tags all straight, I go to drive it and the engine won't start! Haha...So I borrowed a battery charger, put some gas in it b/c I know it has been sitting for awhile with no fuel. It's charging up right now, I want to know before I cause a problem, CAN I START THE ENGINE (OR TRY TO) WHILE IT'S CHARGING? I don't want to ruin anything or hurt myself!
