Can I take these two Medicines together?

Rachel, on those two, you would be fine to take them together.

You are smart in trying to check with your pharmacist on drug interactions.

Can you take nyquil and vicodin together?

I would be extremely careful taking these two meds together and this is why:Tha adult dose of Nyquil contains 500 mg of acetaminophen (APAP). One Vicodin tablet contains 300 mg of APAP. Taking them together will be 800 mg of APAP, if you take only one tablet BUT 1100 if you are taking two.The maximum safe dose of APAP for a normal healthy adult is 4000 mg per 24 hours. So you can see the concern with taking the medications together.First, you would only be able to do this about 3 times before maxing out the APAP and risking damage yo your liver. The second, equally important, concern is that Nyquil is 20 proof, or 10% alcohol. Taking a narcotic like Vicodin with alcohol can cause respiratory distress or even death. So unless your doctor prescribed both meds for you to take together, you definitely should not combine these two.Be well.

If I have two medications that are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, can I take them together? If not, how long do I need to wait to take the second one?

Most medications can be taken together, including those that are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach. It would be very difficult to take two different medications separately on an empty stomach!I would suggest asking your pharmacist (not your doctor) about how you can take your medications and whether you can take them together on an empty stomach. Pharmacists are trained to answer questions about how to take medications. We, as physicians, are trained in when to prescribe medications — but we often don’t know much about the practicalities of how to take them. So, I would suggest calling your pharmacy and asking to speak with the pharmacist.Hope that helps to answer your question.Dr. Paul

Can a patient take ayurvedic and homeopathic medicines together?

Honestly, no one knows.Neither of the doctor would admit to it, but no one knows. And yet, they are bound to tell you that you shouldn't take the other, simply so that you continue to take his/her treatment. Some may say that it's okay to take them together, since they act on different levels altogether, which they do. However, there is little clinical proof available to say that they are effective and safe when taken together. I mean, very few practitioners have actually seen patients who take both of them following up with them regularly.Taking the above two together creates a lot of confusion.Which one is helping. So let's say you want to reduce meds now - you don't know which one to stop.If there is any new symptom or problem, you are not sure which one is responsible for it.You are simply taking too many meds. Which simply means that you are being too obsessed about your health and are just acting out of desperation. What you could do instead is stick to any one of the two, whichever you find more comfortable taking - i.e. feel better. Now, I can't help myself from talking about Homeopathy, you know.. because I'm a Homeopathic doctor, but I'd like to know why in the first place would you think of taking two or three medicines together. I'm very positive that you are also on Allopathy. Are you not feeling better? Are you having any side effects? Is it because of the cost?Or is it because you want to get well soon-er?Every decision is based on a particular mindset which is also very crucial to health and disease. So with Homeopathy, there's an added advantage of being able to understand your constitution and reduce your need for medicines. The right medicine is one that reduces your need for medicine. So in conclusion, you should take as little medicines as you can. So stick to any one.

Can you take aleve and tylenol together?

My pharmacist told me that one CAN take Aleve and Tylenol together because they are different preparations, and they CAN work synergistically to (1) reduce inflammation [Aleve] and (2) relieve pain [Tylenol]. This combination is the only treatment that used to help my daughter with severe menstrual pains.
What you CAN'T do is combine Aleve with aspirin-type or other types of ibuprofen medications. Tylenol is different. Follow the label directions on BOTH products.

Can you take Pamprin and Azo together?

I've been blessed (hahaha) with getting my period at the same time as my recurrent UTI. I take Pamprin to manage my period cramps and Azo to manage my bladder pain. I tried to google it but couldn't find an answer. Is it safe to take the two medications together?

Can you take two medicines at the same time when both are to be taken on an empty stomach?

The reason for taking some medications on an empty stomach is that food will alter the absorption of the medication. Usually food slows absorption, but in some cases fatty food enhances absorption. Calcium and iron are infamous for binding to medication and blocking its absorption. My life was complicated for a while when I routinely took one medication twice a day on an empty stomach (or at least avoiding fats), and one twice a day within an hour after a meal with a beverage that could not be low pH.Take your medicines together and wash them down with water. Eating an hour later is generally acceptable although some medications have a recommendation of no food 2 hours before and hours after.

Can you take Mucinex and Zyrtec together?

Mucinex-D and Zyrtec-D, both of which contain a decongestant, should not be taken together. Plain Mucinex and plain Zyrtec are fine together. The labels on cough/cold/allergy medications tell you the TYPE of ingredients they contain as well as the specific drug(s). For example, it will be stated on the Mucinex label that it contains a "mucolytic", ie, a mucus loosener, and on the Zyrtec label that it contains an "antihistamine", ie, an anti-allergy medication. Common medicine categories include:mucus loosener (mucolytic), antihistamine (anti-allergy),cough suppressant (antitussive),pain/fever reducer (analgesic/antipyretic),and congestion reducer (decongestant).Less common categories includeairway spasm reducer (bronchodilator)and drying agent (anticholinergic),Try to find a preparation or preparations that contains only the type of ingredient(s) you need. Don't take two preparations that have the same category of medication, as this may result in overdose and increased likelihood of adverse effects.

Can I take Cymbalta and Xanax together?

Hi: Xanax is an anti-anxiety medication and is sometimes used as an aid for insomnia. Cymbalta is an antidepressant that can also help with social anxiety disorder and certain pain disorders.

Yes, it is very possible to take these two meds together. I have major depression and have taken as much as 4 meds together. I have met people with bipolar disorder who have taken 6 meds together!

Back to Xanax and Cymbalta: People often react to the same psychiatric meds very differently. So these two meds might be a good combo for you, but a bad combo for someone else. I suggest monitoring how you are feeling. If you run into any problems, please call your doctor. If you have just started taking these meds, doctors generally start you off on a very small dosage and later increase it only if necessary.

Cymbalta can make some people drowsy, but it gave me terrible insomnia. Welcome to the wacky world of psych meds.
