Can Your Body Swell At Night

Can certain foods make your body swell up?

I noticed that whenever I eat certain foods my body tends to swell up. I'm not quite sure which foods, but just ten minutes ago I ate a piece of popeyes chicken, and now I feel swollen. It's not a bloated feeling, and it's not a gassy feeling either. It feels as if I gained about 5 pounds within a few minutes, or like a water retention kind of feeling... It even hurts to wear a bra right now because of it.

The same thing happened to me last night. I had some Chinese food and my body and belly just swelled up within a matter of minutes.

Do certain foods do this? Like, greasy foods, or foods with certain ingredients? Is there any way to make it stop, besides completely cutting out these types of foods?

What can cause swelling in your hands (usually at night)?

Lately I've been noticing that my hands (mainly my fingers) have been swelling up at night. They get so swollen that I have to take my wedding ring off and then can barely get it back on in the morning. Usually by mid-morning they are back down to normal size. What could possibly be causing this? My husband says it might be dehydration. Is he right?

Why are my eyes swollen after crying the night before?

Why do my face swell after waking up?

The simplest cause of puffiness is simply the pressure on your face while you sleep hours, especially if you don't turn much in your sleep. This will naturally go away as you wake up, but you can help the process by applying a cool, wet cloth to your face. Other common causes are:Water Retention: The most common reason for a puffy face in the morning is fluid retention. The best way to avoid this is to limit alcohol and salt (sodium) intake and, perhaps counter-intuitively, drink more water to flush out the system.Allergic Reactions: A common cause of puffiness in the morning is an allergic reaction. Check for possible allergies, including allergies to feathers in your pillow or the material of your pillowcase, by changing them to a different type for a few days.Lotions and Creams: One cause of puffiness is sensitive skin's reaction to lotions or creams applied to the face before bed. Discontinue use of all products for a few days to see if puffiness goes away. Steroid creams are particularly noted for causing this.Pillow Height: Sometimes puffiness is caused by the level of your pillow while you are sleeping, causing either pressure or water retention. Try sleeping with two pillows to help fluids drain properly instead settling in your head and neck areas. If this is painful or causes a crick in your neck, try an orthopaedic or 'comfort' pillow.Medical Conditions: Problems of the endocrine system, particularly hypothyroidism, which also causes weight gain and decreases energy, can cause morning puffiness. See a doctor if you think this might be the cause.

Why do I look fatter after working out? Does my body get swollen?

The only time you should judge your physique is at the morning, after a good night’s fast. If you do it in the evening where you’ve had bunch of food throughout the day, you are stuffed and bloated. Before you to go bed and during the sleep you fast for some hours, which leads to your stomach being flat, the glycogen thus water going where it needs to go and so on.So, make sure your last meal does not consist of many carbohydrates, preferably have a low-carb day, and eat at least 2–4 hours before going to the bed. In the morning do what you need on the toilet and weight yourself along with judging your physique.
