Car Stalls When I Put Gas

Can bad gas make a car stall?

I filled up at a Walmart gas station, and right after I did that, my engine began to cut off in the middle of operation. I put some fuel treatment in and it cut off one last time and after that it was fine. I had an engine diagnostics done on it and the mechanic said there was nothing wrong with it, could it just be a tune-up or a fuel filter? The car fire right up then idles low and lacks power, with occasional stumbling on acceleration.

Car stalls when it's cold out when I put it in Drive?

Well, so far you've gotten three different answers. Well, here's number 4. Your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) may be stuck or failing.

Try this: Start the car and let it idle in park. Then switch the air conditioner on. The engine idle speed should remain relatively the same or may slightly increase. If it doesn't, or if the engine almost wants to fail then your IACV is not operating.

The other descriptions of fuel issues doesn't make sense because if the car doesn't get enough fuel to idle then what is it going to get when you step on the pedal? I don't remember the other things people said, but for my money, you need to remove the IACV and clean it at the very least. My wife's car does something similar at startup. Sometimes the IACV doesn't open like it should. Start the car and it dies right out. Start it again and it operates.

I recently cleaned it and that improved the situation considerably but the problem is still there. I may need to replace the valve.

Hope this helps.

My car stalls after running a few minutes?

Does old gas cause a car to stall?

Car dies when i give it gas?

i've got a 83 civic with a 1500 EM1. i had this problem when they started putting ethanol in the gas in some counties in texas, i went to a smog exempt county and got gas from a shell station without ethanol and the next day my car wouldn't idle without dying and smoked light a train. I drove it for about 40 minutes at 75 Mph then changed the spark plugs and wires and the problem stopped. it was bogging down really bad before that though, in second gear if i stepped in on the clutch it would die and didn't want to start again unless i dumped the clutch out to start it with momentum, i don't think they ever thought the honda 1500 would be running with ethanol but once it gets used to it i think it kinda likes it, i did have to swtich to mid or premium though because it was knocking so bad with 87 octane ethanol gas. with 91 or 93 it runs like it did before they snuck ethanol into my gas. you also could try to advance the timing, but i would check the plugs, cap, and rotor to make sure it's not an ignition thing. when i changed my plugs i also did my cap and rotor and the cap was fried and the rotor contact was worn down to a very tiny nub, after all the cost of parts(less than 25 bucks) my car was laying down some smoky burn outs.

My car is sputtering after filling up with gas?

Do yourself a favor and go to any auto parts store and tell them you need a bottle of Heat gas line dryer from what you are saying it sounds like you have water in the gas the heat is basically methanol and the ones who said it is corrosive are correct it will corrode the fuel lines, gas tank and the rest of the fuel system it is safe to use up to a concentration of up to to 10% I have no idea what kind of car you have or how much gas you put in but one bottle should be plenty put it in there and drive it if it doesnt help try another bottle.Try that first before you start spending money on parts you dont need
