Canon dslr water damage.. what would be the repair cost?
Warranty is irrelevant - it covers manufacturing defects not user defects! If the camera had been wet with pure water you have a chance. Salt water is a total killer - chances are the camera is irreparably damaged. Salt is corrosive to metals, it conducts electricity and it will dry out leaving residues to clog the mechanical components of the lens and shutter. You have compounded the problem by trying to use it - chances are you have blown circuit boards. Time to buy a new camera!! When you buy your new DSLR also buy a cheap used P&S off ebay - next time you go to the beach leave the DSLR at home and take the cheap, expendable P&S. Sand is the next biggest camera killer after salt water!

i THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE IT APART....WELL THE BATTERY AND LET IT SIT AND DRY FOR 24 HOURS MAYBE LESS BUT SEE IF THAT WOULD WORK...ONE OF MY PHONES FELL IN A SINK FULL OF WATER AND IT WORKED AFTER THAT...JUST TRY THAT...GOOD LUCK!

I never realized my iphone 5 was in my pocket when i went swimming. It was under water for about 1-2 minutes and now it is water damaged. Will Virgin Mobile replace my phone since they have a one year warranty, if you buy a phone from them? (I bought the iPhone from the Virgin Mobile website) Or do they only replace certain phones?
