Computer Xp-sp2 Does Not Boot If The Monitor Is Switched On After The Cpu Is Switched On. Why

Computer (XP-SP2) does not boot if the monitor is switched on after the cpu is switched on. why?

The computer is an in house assembled one with SAMTRON 50E monitor. It has a Mercury mother board and an intel dual core processor.
processor.

Why does my computer not boot when my printer is switched on?

I'm am not exactly sure but I think each kind of printer goes with a certain type of computer.

Also, I was going to say it is better to leave your printer off but at since you want FAX, you can still have your computer off while the printer is running. If you want FAX to come in while you are on the computer you simply turn OFF the printer, turn on the computer, wait till it gets to the desktop, and then turn your printer back on.

The chances of someone trying to FAX you in that minute is 1 to 1000.

Computer does not boot past POST?

I just installed Win 7 Pro 64bit, after the install computer rebooted and would not get past POST.

specifically on the part where it checks the HDD. It says though that the drive is "capable and OK". i know which drive that it is, and I've removed it and the POST finishes.

what do you guys think is causing the system not to boot past the hard drive? dead disk?

i'm trying to find a replacement hard drive to plug in and re-install windows 7, I'm also going to try and test the HDD on another computer.

More specifics.Have you tested your power supply?  Can you test your power supply?  Simple way... swap it out with one that you know works.  Why?  A blown cap in the PSU could cause issues with it firing up.Is that it?  No way.  There's more.  How about the power switch itself?  Have you tested the rig with another power switch?  In a pinch, for testing, since all you need is a momentary switch anyway, you can connect the case Reset switch to the Power Switch header on the motherboard.  That way, you can see if the issue is the actual switch on your case.  Wouldn't be the first time I saw an owner with a new case pulling his hair out because he shouldn't have had to bring his new build into the shop.  You can't assume it isn't going to be something.  I don't care what you think it isn't going to be.  Test it somehow and eliminate it.What do you need to get a predictable response from your motherboard?  You need a power supply, a power switch, a CPU, and a heatsink/fan combo.  With that, you can predictably get the BIOS to tell you audibly that there is no RAM in the slots.  If you don't get the RAM beep, either you don't have a CMOS speaker (unlikely in this day and age, with them mounted to the boards), or there is an issue with the board, power supply, CPU, or switch.  Swap out any of them with a known good... if you can... and you can uncover the issue.  The MOBO is going to be hard to swap out, as would your CPU..... but, you might have a friend with a similar computer, and he's good enough to let you borrow his, to test.  The PSU... it's a new rig, so you must have an old one around.I suspect it is the actual power button... but without getting hands on to diagnose and actually figure it out, I don't like to guess.

Computer turns off on it's and Windows XP will not boot correctly!?

OK, the computer has stopped turning off on it's own now that I have gotten the tons of dust out of it and heighten the shut down temp to 90 from 85.

But even after restoring it to a check point that was a month ago it still doesn't boot XP correctly (It says something about a FloppyDisk Fail . . .I never had a Floppydisk port on this computer. It use to say something else but I can't remember that now ).

And when I try to defrag it at the 3% mark the screen goes blue and it says something about checking new HW (I don't have "new HW". I haven't installed any new parts into the actual computer).

Any one know how to make XP load correctly?

And no, I don't think I have the XP set up/ start up disk

My computer shows no display on monitor or start up beep?

Hey so my computer was working fine yesterday, i tried to switch it on this morning and noticed the 1 beep start up sound i usually hear from the PC didn't happen i then switched on the monitor and there was no picture, everything was plugged in and nothing had been touched, i removed ram modules and heard beeping when i tried to boot up the computer which was a good sign but i just tried it again and no beeping noise.. i thought at first it might of been my graphic card but i got told there's usually a beeping code the PC gives out on start up to state the card has malfunctioned.. i then thought maybe it's my power supply because i receive no power through my mouse or keyboard however when the PC is on all the fans are working, HD is spinning, CD drives are flashing, i just don't get what's wrong, can anyone help me out?

My computer doesn't boot up or have a beep on start up?

I have to use my laptop for this question. So don't ask how I'm asking this question.
I have recently built a computer. I plugged everything in, and checked it at least 4 times. I plugged in the 24pin and 4pin connectors on the motherboard, and I will tell my specs later. When I get everything all plugged in and I turn it on, the PSU, CPU fan, and DVD all work, but nothing shows on the monitor. Nor do I get a beeping sound, so this obviously means I don't automatically go into BIOS. And this recent term I have recently learned, P.O.S.T., does't happen either, which I believe it means Power On Self Test (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only 13.). So like I said, all fans run, the DVD tray pops out when I program it to, and everything works, but nothing shows on the monitor. I don't know if my motherboard has a integrated video card, and I don't have a video card put in the PCIe x16 slot either, but I'm waiting to stay the night at my dads house so I can get it. I'm scared that it won't ever work. I don't know if my Motherboard has an integrated video card, but I will quickly try to get the video card from my father. I just switched out my RAM for the other stick, and I haven't tested it yet, but I will soon.

Specs- Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P AM3+ Motherboard
AMD Phenom ii x4 965 3.4GHz CPU
x1 Stick of 4Gb RAM as that is the only stick I can fit as the CPU fan takes up a lot of space.
No Video card installed at this time, and HDD space doesn't matter for this question.

Please help. I have given only a few details but I'm sure there are a lot of helpful answers out there.

Computer won't boot. Is all lost?

From what you described, I have a feeling that the problem was the motherboard itself, not the CPU, but it's a little late for that now.

As for recovering your data, if your daughter's computer is still functional, remove the hard drive from your computer (do not drop it, handle it gently, that is where all your files are stored), remove your daughters hard drive and replace it with yours. As long as your hard drive is not damaged and her computer is the same as yours and still functional, it should boot right up and you can save your files to a flash drive or CD (if you have a burner). It wouldn't be a bad idea for you to check out some instructions for safely working inside a computer. Static discharge can ruin the sensitive electronics so it is always a good idea to touch a metal surface to discharge static built up on you whenever working with sensitive computer parts.

An alternative if you don't feel comfortable doing further work on the computers yourself is to bring both computers (even if nothing is wrong with your daughters) to a computer repair shop. The reason I say to bring both is because since they are both the same model, it should make testing things a lot easier for the technician since they will have an identical one which they can use as the test unit. Provided that your daughter's computer still works and that your hard drive hasn't been damaged, recovering your files should be a piece of cake.

A hard drive swap like I mentioned is very easy, I'd try it yourself considering how far you've already gone in attempting to repair yours. It's just a matter of at most, a few screws and 2 cable connectors that pull out of the back of the drive. Some computers have the drives mounted on plastic rails and you don't even have to take out any screws to remove the drive. Also, check the manufacturer's website for support links, some (such as Dell or IBM and others) have service manual downloads available for free.

Without a CPU, no BIOS code would execute. The ACPI subsystem would start, but would essentially do nothing. No beeps. No nothing. Because those beeps are actually triggered by software.EDIT: I’ve been made aware that the motherboard itself can detect a missing CPU and give out a beep code by itself. But I still wonder if it happens for every motherboard out there. I originally said nothing happens.
