Get a good business plan writer. Take your time consider all the costs in starting the business. Plan out EVERYTHING! Research your location,your customers, your business.You need to know everything that is going to make your business run for at least a year....think of every detail imaginable. From where you get your supplies to what vehicles your crew will use. Owner of an auto repair shop hires Contractor to remodel his shop but does not mention that two days after the scheduled completion date, Owner is to receive five small US Army personnel carrier trucks for service, with a three-week deadline to finish the job and turn the trucks over to the army. The contract between Owner and the army has a liquidated damages clause calling for $300 a day for every day trucks are not operable after the deadline. Contractor is five days late in finishing the remodel. Can Owner claim the $1,500 as damages against Contractor as a consequence of the latter’s tardy completion of the contract?

Hi Bill: Here's what I found on getting a contractors license in Calfornia. According to http://www.contractors-license.org/ca/ca.htm : o qualify for a license you must verify that you've had at least four years of experience in the last ten years as a journeyman, foreman, supervising employee, contractor, or owner-builder. You may be able to apply from one and one-half to three years of approved education and/or apprenticeship to this requirement. There are also special requirements for contractors who work with asbestos, contractors who remove hazardous substances, and contractors who install or remove underground storage tanks. Unless you're applying for a joint venture license, you must have more than $2,500 worth of operating capital to apply for a new contractor's license.
