Costa Rica Trip Should I Go

Costa Rica Trip?

It sounds like you're probably talking about the Worldstrides costa rica trip, right? Thats the one I'm going to go on. Anyway, you can probably go to costa rica on your own for cheaper, but what you're paying for here is all the behind-the-scenes experiences. Think about it, how many regular tourists get to help conduct wildlife surveys and all the other fun stuff worldstrides does with you? In my opinion, it's TOTALLY worth it!!!!

Should I go to Costa Rica or Spain?

Next year the college I'm going to has a program where you can go to either Costa Rica or Spain for a semester and get six credits toward your foreign language requirements. My finacial aid should cover most of it and I was thinking of going but I can't decide which country I want to go to. Have you guys been to these places? Maybe you can share your experiences and stuff with me and maybe that'll help me decide. Thanks!

Should I go to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico or Cuba? What are some cool hostels in LA?

Ideally, you should go to all three. Costa Rica is a remarkable country with great natural assets and history that is very welcoming of visitors. There are volcanos and forest preserves and coffee plantations. Exotic birds, interesting mammals and poisonous snakes. The same can be said for Cuba plus it also has the allure of forbidden fruit. Going to Cuba is a bit like going back in time as most of the cars on the road are from the late 50’s and have been preserved because there has been a US embargo.Puerto Rico is compact and accessible with hundreds of flights, and, as US territory, no passports, no immigration, no currency change. Everybody understands English and is warm and welcoming. You can get anywhere in its 3500 square miles in under three hours on good roads. It has no volcanos or poisonous snakes but a highly diverse natural environment with numerous micro-climes ramging from rain forests to savannas, marshlands and hundreds of beaches and reefs with tropical fish and sea turtles. All laden with hundreds of species of birds. The history and architecture and art and music and dance will knock your socks as will the thousands of authentic, world class places to eat. National Geographic just named Puerto Rico the place to travel this summer - on a budget! That in a place known for its six star hotels. Come and visit - Despacito! YoI will never want to go home. Because you are home!

What should I do when I travel to Costa Rica?

Travel light. You won't need a large wardrobe. Costa Rica is a very casual place and you can get by wearing shorts and t-shirts almost anywhere. If you want to go a little nicer a nice pair of khaki pants (or a skirt) with a collared shirt will work almost everywhere else.Casual dress at a restaurant near Dominical with great tasting food. If you go to Costa Rica - try all the amazing fruits that are available. The read meat in Costa Rica is NOT very good. The cows are almost all grass fed and they are lean. I am not a "foodie" but I do not order red meat too often. Every time I do I wish I would have ordered chicken or fish. Mamones chinos fruit. Peel the skin with your teeth and eat the sweet fruit inside. Yummy! Most places have wifi so bring your laptop or tablet. Depending on your cell phone carrier, your 3G phone may work. Costa Rica uses GSM 1800 MHz and 3G at 850 MHz (talk to your carrier before you leave). I think when people think of Costa Rica they think of jungles, wildlife and beaches. With that in mind, I would suggest you land in San Jose, fly to Palmar Sur (Osa) and spend some time ziplining, hiking, dolphin and whale watching, take a few days in Corcovado National Park near Sierpe (one of the most biologically intense places on earth) and a few days on the beaches of Uvita, Domincal or Puerto Jimenez. (photo above is from Dominical - the road on the left is the Costanera Highway which runs on the Pacific coast of the country from near Jaco to Palmar Norte/Palmar Sur where it terminates into the Pan American Highway)For a beautiful drive, take a road trip from Palmar Norte to San Isidro del General. During the 2 hour trip you will go through huge pineapple plantations and have some spectacular, sweeping, river and mountain views. Palmar Sur is home to 100's of ancient spheres - no one knows who made them, where, how or why. There are many beautiful places in Guanacaste and on the Caribbean as well, however, I know a lot more about places from Jaco south.

Is $3000 a decent price for a class trip to Costa Rica?

It seems to me that your trip is a bit pricey. It is about $1,000 over what it should cost. It's 8 or 9 days. If you go to an all inclusive hotel and you are staying 3 or 4 to a room, which you usually do on class trips, then it is a bit high. If I were you, I would investigate a bit more. Find out what hotels you will be staying in and then go to the hotel web page to see what the rates are. If you were to do the trip on your own, you could do it for less, depending on where you stay.
Like I said, all inclusive is the way to go. If you stayed at an all inclusive resort and came down with three friends, you would end up paying around $120 per night. That's $960. You can fly from Miami to Costa Rica for around $600, figure $500 for souvenirs and incidentals, and you are at $2060.
You can find good airline deals online to. It depends on how much time you want to spend doing the necessary research. I have included links to two decent all inclusive hotels. Check them out. For my money, I would go to Barcelo. I have, in fact, and it's great.

If you need more information about Costa Rica, try the TicosLand.com website. It is in English and Spanish.
