Cramping At 7 Weeks Postpartum

Sex 5 weeks post-partum, having cramps and period. Normal???

Usually your doctor will inform you to wait 6 weeks after delivery to continue a routine sex life. But, It shouldn't be that big of an issue , if there was alot of abnormal clotting then I would be concerned , other than that , you shoudn't have anything to worry about .But if you are still concerned you can always contact your doctor and they can rest assure you if you should be concerned by this or not.

How can you prevent bleeding at 5 weeks postpartum?

Your body goes through a lot of changes during pregnancy. After childbirth, your body and uterus needs time to recover which leads to postpartum periods. It’s normal to have postnatal bleeding; as this is the way that your body gets rid of excessive blood added up during pregnancy. 50% of blood volume increases during pregnancy, and your body is well prepared for this normal blood loss after childbirth. If the discharge smells foul, you’re still noticing a lot of blood loss after the first four weeks, or the blood is bright red or if you experience fever or chills, these are signs of an infection. Then you should consult with your doctor as soon as you can. Do’s and Don’t for this are!

2 weeks postpartum: menstrual-like cramps, heavy bleeding still normal?

It's not unusual for bleeding to have moments where it increases, especially if you've been more physically active, running after other children or doing housework, etc. Cramping can go on for several weeks.

Call your doctor if you're concerned, but generally, unless you are saturating a pad in less than an hour, your bleeding is probably normal.

7 weeks postpartum, period-like cramps, possibly pregnant?

I had my baby 7 weeks ago today. I stopped postpartum bleeding at 5 weeks and had unprotected sex at 5 & 6 weeks, twice. Ever since a few days after the first time we had sex I've had alot of period-like cramping but I still haven't gotten my period. I also feel kind of nauseous & extra moody lately. Do you think it's possible I'm pregnant again or do you think these are just signs that my period is coming soon? Before I had my baby I usually only cramped for 2-3 days before my period but its going on almost 2 weeks now. Also, i combo fed (pumped breast milk & formula) for 4 & a half weeks, but i haven't breastfed at all or pumped since then. And right now i have a small amount of creamy CM. last week i had alot more, and the week before that i also had alot but it was more like (TMI) slimey and clear. What do you ladies think?

Cramping and spotting after 6 week check up?

It sounds like your lochia (the bleeding after you've had a baby) went on for 6 weeks? If so, and if you are still bleeding, personally I would ask for an ultrasound scan to rule out retained fragments of placenta, as sometimes this can cause prolonged postpartum bleeding. But if it is just spotting now then it sounds like normal hormonal adjustment after childbirth. Women often have irregular postpartum bleeding up to 6 weeks after the birth of a baby; as far as I can establish, up to 6 weeks is considered within the normal range although 2-4 weeks is more common. Having gone on the pill straight after having a baby, your body has two major hormonal changes to adjust to, so give it a little time :-)

I am assuming this is your first baby. Some women do find that menstrual cramps become worse after they have had a baby. If you are breastfeeding then this will have helped your uterus to shrink back down quickly after the birth, but if not then it can take a while for your body to adjust. You may also get cramps after intercourse because ligaments have stretched and, for instance, your uterus and cervix may be sitting slightly lower in your body than before, and you perhaps have not adjusted to that yet.

Some midwives talk about the 'childbearing year' because it takes at least 3 months after giving birth for your body to even have a chance of full recovery, and more generally, think of it as 9 months to grow the baby, and 9 months for your body to recover fully.

I hope you feel better soon, and have lots of fun with your son :-)

8 weeks postpartum - dark brown sticky discharge?

I had my baby 8 weeks ago and had pp bleeding for almost 3 weeks then nothing since.

Over a week ago I started getting light brown spotting that lasted up to 2 days ago then changed to heavier, dark brown, almost black, sticky discharge with some large-ish clots and today I've been having really bad period-like pains.

Is this something I should be worried about or is it just my period returning?

This is my second child and I just had normal bleeding when my period returned after my first baby so not sure what this dark coloured discharge is about...

Breastfeeding, period like cramps, 9 weeks after birth?

Im not sure, but perhaps you could be pregnant? I have read that if your baby sleeps through or goes 7+ hours without feeding, you can begin to ovulate. Most women ovulate before having a period- so perhaps you are pregnant.

I don't know though- I am also 9.5 weeks after giving birth. I don't have any discharge or period like pain and my little one sleeps 9 hours at night without feeding.

Every woman is different though. Perhaps try POS to see?
Gd Luck.

Why do my period cramps feel like labor pain?

Medical professionals please feel free to correct me where I’m wrong, but I think I have the correct high-level gist at least.Well, they basically are contractions. When your body decides that its current uterine lining won’t be used, it wants to get rid of it. The way your body does this is by releasing a hormone (FSH) that stimulates your smooth muscles*.Some of these smooth muscles are found in your lady business area, and the FSH stimulates the smooth muscle in the myometrium layer of the uterine wall to make regular contractions that will push the unused lining out (think about squeezing a washcloth). And yes, the same muscles make the contractions used to push babies out of the same place.Speaking of painful contractions…Unfortunately, smooth muscles also occur elsewhere in the body. Like your intestines. The hormone isn’t always terribly specific, you see, so it can incidentally stimulate contractions in, say, your intestines. Now, we have tiny contractions going on in your intestines all the time, pushing your food along the tubes as part of the digestive process. But the extra push from the FSH can make the contractions a bit unruly and painful. These are our cramps. This is also why women often get diarrhea along with their periods, because the contractions are pushing the contents of the intestines out to the bowel before the digestive process is finished with them.* Your body has three kinds of muscle:Striated muscle, which is the kind we think of as muscles. The meaty bits on your legs and arms etc. that we consciously use to move around.Smooth muscle, which is found on the inside of you in the walls of most of the organs that stuff needs to move through, like your intestines, bladder, blood vessels, etc. Your body sends out signals to these muscles to make them contract in waves to move their contents along (peristalsis).Heart muscle, which is so special and important it gets to be its own category.

5 months postpartum ovulation?

Hun there's really only a couple things that really could be going on and no one can really say for sure. Either your body tried to O and it failed, and is continually trying hence the constant ewcm with no LH surge, or your body did eventually O way later after your +opk and you are just having an abundance of ewcm in your lp which sometimes happens. We both know that sometimes we never dried up after O and cramps kicked in immediately after O, or O pains just continued on here and there in the LP. If you've yet to O your body is going to keep trying so keep monitoring you Cm, which obviously is not too hard if you are having tons of it, and keep testing with opks to not miss a surge. It's hard to say what exactly is going as your cycle is really confusing postpartum so try to hang in there and keep a close eye on things. It's also possible that you might just not O and eventually have breakthrough or withdrawl bleeding, as your lining may not be able to sustain itself any longer. Sorry I cannot be of more help but these are the only things that make sense to me xx.

Maybe next time you could post in the pregnancy forum, as the ladies there may more be of more help to you? I see quite a bit of these questions posted there xx
