Anyone have cute ideas for desserts for my baby shower?

We filled wine glasses with pink and white marshmallows, cherry 7-up, We made sugar cookies with pink sprinkles and curled pink ribbon and sprinkled it around the desert table for more color. We also did cherry jello in mini cupcake cups, made mini cupcakes with pink booties (frosting) on top and filled baby bottles with various candies that had pink in them (pink whoppers, good n plenty, etc).

Easy italian desserts for a crowd?

cannoli's are easy and a crowd pleaser

i would personally buy the shells at the food store and make this filling...

SHELLS:
11/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons butter, unsalted
3 tablespoons Marsala

FILLING:
1 pound sheep's milk ricotta (may substitute cow's milk)
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
4 tablespoons orange zest
1/4 cup tiny chocolate chips
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 quarts canola oil for frying
Powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
Mix together dry ingredients and cut in butter with 2 knives. Add Marsala and shape dough into a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate.

Heat 2 quarts canola oil in 31/2 quart pot to 350 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, stir together ricotta, sugar, vanilla, orange zest and chocolate chips until well mixed. Spoon into a pastry bag with an open tip and place in refrigerator. Remove dough from refrigerator and divide into 4 pieces. Roll one piece onto flat surface with rolling pin until 1/16inch thick. Cut in 4 inch circles. Using a rolling pin, elongate circles into ovals. Wrap ovals lengthwise around metal forms and seal edge with egg whites. Flare ends open with fingers and place in hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and allow to drain on paper towels. When cool enough to touch, twist molds away from shells. Shells may be made 1 day in advance and rest unfilled and uncovered. When ready to eat, stuff cannoli with ricotta cream, dust with powdered sugar and serve. :) :)

Vegan birthday cake/dessert ideas?

I'm not sure how to make this gluten free (maybe sub oat flour? Definitely not rice flour, that'd give a completely different texture):
http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6686.0
It was literally the BEST cake I've ever had.
You can use the cake as a base recipe for something else. For example, my sister subbed out the water and chocolate, and replaced it with orange juice. But since citrus is an issue, any fruit juice should work, perhaps lemon or strawberry juice or melon juice. You can also put in 3/4 of the sugar required for the recipe (since it may come off sweet, especially if you're using a sweet juice).

Best part about this recipe is that it doesn't require any ingredients you don't already have...all of these are pantry staples.

You can also make brownies that use dates instead of sugar as the sweetener. (look up raw chocolate brownies). The chocolate covers up the complexities of the dates.

Dessert recipe?

What are some simple homemade dessert ideas even the most inept of chefs could make to impress a date?

The ‘most inept chef’ can’t make toast, so should buy a dessert instead, rather than try and fail to make something impressive. In any case, nobody cooking for a date should aim to ‘impress’ the date. They should aim to serve something that the date can enjoy. They should make something which is pleasurable, not impressive.I don’t like desserts myself, but if I wanted a date to think of me Now, this guy knows how to have fun, I would make Claudia Roden’s recipe for apple latkes, from her Book of Jewish Food.Core and peel apples and cut into four thick slices. Lay the slices in a bowl with a couple of tablespoons of sugar and three tbsp of brandy or dark rum. Leave for an hour, so that the apple absorbs the booze.Make a simple batter by beating two egg yolks with 2 tbsp oil and a pinch of salt. Stir in one cup of flour (150g), mix well, and 7/8 cup (200ml) of water.Heat at least 3/4 inch of vegetable oil in a pan, dip the apple slices in batter and fry until brown. The oil should be hot enough that it turns the batter brown before the apple gets soft.Take out apple slices with slotted spoon and dry on kitchen paper. Sprinkle sugar over (cinnamon sugar if you like it) and serve.Brandy-flavoured apple fritters. Now, that is a good time.
