Did I Pull A Muscle In My Back Or Is It Something Worse

I think I pulled my muscle or hyperextended it or something!!! Please help me find out what is wrong!?

There are likely a few things going on here. You have most likely strained your hamstring muscle, which is the muscle at the back of your leg that is responsible for bending your knee and moving your leg backwards. If it hurts to do these things, it is very likely that this muscle is the culprit. If this is the case the best treatment is to ice it and leave it alone DO NOT STRETCH. Stretching at this point will only make things worse. Hamstring strains are notorious for taking a long time to heal. Be patient don't try to push through the pain. You should consider seeing a health care professional if it is not better in 4 weeks. It is also quite likely that you sustained damage to you ACL, which is the ligament in you knee that keeps it from hyper extending (straightening too much). The interesting thing is that the hamstring and the ACL do much the same thing at the knee. So, with your hamstring being shot, the ACL is exposed to further damage, and with a compromised ACL, your hamstring has to work harder-causing more strain. Talk about a rock and a hard place. Anyway, just ice and leave it alone for a few weeks.

I hurt my abs doing sit ups. Did I pull a muscle or something worse?

I started exercising recently after getting out of shape. I started doing sit-ups and suddenly I got a sharp pain. I thought I'd pulled a muscle because it kinda feels like that, but it hasn't gone away in over a week. It only hurts when I'm doing sit-ups or even push-ups. It's a sharp pain. What is wrong with me? Should I go to the doctor?

How do you cure a pulled muscle in your back?

My mom bent down to grab something and her back froze and now it hurts when she walks. She said she pulled a muscle and is putting warm heat pad things on it. How do you cure it, or heal it faster?

Testicle pain from pulled back muscle?

You may have an inguinal hernia. I have had one. When you recieve the initial injury it feels like a pulled groin/lower abdomen muscle, but what you don't realize is that you have re-opened your inguinal canal (the tubes where your nuts drop through when you are a developing fetus) and now you have a loop of intestines popping down into your sack. It usually starts quite small (I didn't even notice mine for a week or two) and gets bigger with time.

Good News? It is very common among physically active men and rarely a serious concern.
Not So Good News? It is VERY uncomfortable and gets worse feeling with time
Even Worse News? Only real treatment is surgery to correct it.
Not So Bad After All News? The surgery is really not a big deal. Recovery is pretty much a snap. Uncomfortable... sure, for a few weeks, but not unbearable, and way better than just letting it get worse. And no, they don't cut your nuts, they go in through your lower abdomen. Another plus - once they do the surgery, you can't get another one. They put a kevlar patch there (same **** that they put in bullet proof vests),

Anyhow, might be an I. Hernia, might not. If it continues to bother you, go to a doctor.

Cure for pulled muscle in lower back?

Recent injury is "cold" to reduce the swelling.

After the inflammation has gone down (which is really a guess) you revert to heat. Why? Because it increases blood flow for healing.

That is the latest for any type of muscle or joint injury.

BTW, these are big and deep muscles so the best you can do is a bath. And you're going to freeze in the water long enough to make a difference and burn up in the hot water to make a difference. But that is what you are suppose to do.

Here is the concept behind chiropractor's and back muscles. They think that the left side of the back and right side of the back work together or against each other.

When one side is injured, the other side is strong and tries to pull your spine to that side. It causes your injured muscle to hurt even worse. Their goal is to make your spine perfectly straight.

So they "tire" the good muscles that oppose the sore or sick muscles. IOW, let's say your injured muscle is on the left side... directly to the right side the strong muscle is pulling your spine to it, since it is stronger.

So they tire that muscle by massaging it to make it tired and weak. Yes they pop your back but for injuries it is like above. If you can get your significant other to massage the good side of your back it is "suppose" to help.

Pulled back muscle 20 weeks pregnant.?

Hey,
first of all congratulations on your pregnancy!! Now to the business at hand... It does sound to me like you did strain your lower lumber muscles. Because you are 5 months pregnant, and with how the pelvis compensates for the added weight displaced on your midsection. You will have a natural condition called lordosis (curvature of your lower spine). The weight of your baby pulls you lumbar forward causing your pelvis to rotate thus creating your lower spine muscles (spinal erectors) to hyperextend. With that compensation... your lower spine muscles will be very tight and as a result doing any kind activity can spasm the area very easily. In other words.... those muscles back there are doing its very best to control and stabilize your spine and pelvis so no damage will occur in your vertebral column and or your spinal cord.
Sorry for the long explanation but i really wanted you to understand what the processes of your muscles in relation to your pregnancy. Now for the first 48 hours after the spasm, DO NOT use any heat or try to stretch your back. Heat will only cause more inflammation that is already there and stretching will cause more spasms to the muscles. So you need to lie down on some ice and take your tylenol. Call your pediatrician to see how high of a dosage you can take because of your pregnancy. Also try to lie low and not be so active during the next 2 days. The more active you are the more you will engage your muscles and the longer your spasms will last. That includes work... believe it or not sitting does engage muscle contractions for stability. Now if you follow these directions... after the 2 days lapse your back should feel much better. Now you can start some gentle spine stretches and very light spinal strengthening movements would be wise. If you need to get some exercise, just let me know and I will be happy to assist you.
I hope you feel better!!

Do I have scoliosis or pulled muscle?

Ok, I was playing with my little cousin and his friend. I think I jumped or fell and then suddenly my neck and shoulder started hurting. It felt like severe cramps. I did not feel any back pain when my neck and shoulder started hurting. It still does hurt and when I move in a certain ways it hurts more. I looked at the mirror and I realized that other shoulder was lower than the other. Is that scoliosis or I just pulled a muscle? I was diagnosed in school just last month (8th grader here). Should I see the doctor? Again I didn't feel any back pain.
