Diluting Blue And Pink Hair Dye With Cream Developer For Dreadlocks

Can I lighten previously dyed hair using 30 vol developer only?

This is what I would refer to as a desert-island scenario.Technically: Maybe … but why?The peroxide level might open the hair cuticle enough that it will release artificial pigments, but without another added component to alter pigments such as color (ammonia) or bleach, you're mostly just doing damage without a predictable or reliable result.I suppose you could mix the developer with shampoo, which would create a more reliable delivery system. But the real question is why?If you are stranded on a desert island in a post-apocalyptic world with only one other human, and the two of you must mate to preserve the human race, but he/she refuses to mate with anyone who doesn't have blonde hair, and you happen to have found a half-full discarded bottle of 30 volume developer … well, go for it I guess. But if someone just happened to leave some developer at your house and you're considering cost-effective alternative options, this one is unessessarily harsh, difficult to time (might go slow, might do too much damage by the time it actually works) and the outcome is near impossible to predict.

What will happen if I use a coloring creme without the developer from boxed hair dye?

If it’s dark, it may stain your hair a little but other than that nothing permanent. If it’s a lighter shade it won’t do anything. If it did color a little it will not stay on and will wash out very quickly. When using developer which is really hydrogen peroxide, The peroxide causes the hair shaft to swell and open up. While it’s open the hair receives the color. It must be left on 25 minutes for the full process to finish. As it colors it will change color. Several times. It may go on white and be a dark brown color. It can look blue, some colors will look real dark but will not be dark when you wash them out.I hope I have helped you. Good luck to you.

Will mixing 30volume developer with semi permanent hair dye make it permanent?

Mixing a semi permanent hair color with developer will not make it a permanent color. Permanent hair color contains different ingredients that react with the developer and because semi colors do not contain those same ingredients adding the developer to it will do nothing but damage your hair. It will damage your hair more than bleaching. When bleaching hair the developer is what actually does the lightening not the powder you buy. The powder has ingredients in it to help condition the hair and protect it from the super damaging effects of developer and also has ingredients to help speed along the developers lighting power/ activate it. So, putting just developer on your hair (which is hydrogen peroxide) would lighten your hair with very damaging effects because it does not have the conditioning agents that the powder gives it. So this is why adding developer to a semi with just ruin your hair.

The bright colors you want are not natural hair colors, there for can not be a permanent hair color. The only way to get your hair those bright colors it to lighten you hair color and use a semi. Go to a salon to get your hair professionally lightened to a nice shade of a blonde so you do not damage your hair. After that, go to Sally's Beauty supply and pick up a box of Ion Color Brilliance Brights hair semi hair color in your choice. It cost about 5$ for the box of color (which is super cheap so refreshing your hair color will be super easy and inexpensive). The color lasts a few weeks and its only downfall is how thick the color is. Mix it with a little conditioner (just enough to make is a little more smooth but not too much or else it will fade the color to much) apply it to your hair, wash it out and there you go :) and to keep from fading, mix whatever color is left in the tube with some conditioner and every time you wash your hair use it as a normal conditioner and it will refresh your color and keep it lasting longer. Washing your hair every other day also helps it not fade. or if you still want to use the schwarzkopf do the exact same thing but with what color instead.

Would adding developer with a semi permanent dye make the color brighter?

Nope. I wanted to know this just last year, too. But you can't mix oxidative and direct dye. They work differently. Direct dye (deposit only) just coats and stains the hair. It doesn't damage it. To get the colour bright and long-lasting, apply it to the hair, wrap it in plastic and sleep with it in. In the morning, rinse with icy cold water (no shampoo-ever) until the water is clear. Depending on the brand, it might continue to bleed so be careful of towels and clothes. You can rinse your hair in icy cold water once a week, and condition it. Do not ever shampoo brightly coloured hair. Just don't. Unless you're trying to get one colour out to change it. But after a month or so of not shampooing, the colour will be permanent and nothing will get it out. Actually I did find that blue faded a tiny bit, but I didn't particularly like blue so I think I wasn't as diligent about not shampooing it for long enough.

Pink Hair Dye Mixed With Blue Hair Dye ?

If you're going to mix, I would recommend using mainly CCP (Cotton candy pink) and maybe 1/4 SB (shocking blue).
That'll produce a lavender-ish color

you can increse the amount of SB if you want the purple to become darker.

It depends on the look you're going for. I'd honestly mix less SB because you can always go back and darken it if needed later since its not completely permenant.

Hope it helps, good luck

I’ve heard 40 volume creme developer can help lighten hair even without bleach. I have thick, dark brown hair with orangeish-brown tips and I want to safely achieve a lighter ash blonde. How can I instantly lighten my hair color without bleach?

You will not be able to achieve a ash blond (level 7/8/9) without bleach. Anything you can get available to the general public will not be strong enough for your desired outcome so unless you can get pro product do not attempt it. 40 vol (12%) mixed with color or hi-lift color always pulls warmth meaning it exposes the natural red & yellow pigment in the hair. My guess is you are about a lv.3-4 see chart:The column on the right is the corresponding level of hairs underlying raw pigment. You must bypass all the red stages first. So a level 7 is the first yellow/gold stage. At a lv.7 raw, you can use a lv7 color to neutralize the yellow. A lighter color:8+ will not be strong enough to neutralize the warmth of a lv.7 raw. lv.7A/7.1=ash will give you a lv.7N (see left side #7) ideally a level 8–9 = yellow-pale yellow base/raw is best to get an ash blond like:The first is a lv.7 then 8 then 9. having 1 process with a good quality bleach + 30 volume is better than 40 volume X2+ hi-lift color & will pass the red-gold stages. I would recommend seeing a good colorist with experience & chemical knowledge. I would also recommend getting a full head of hi-lites over doing the whole head as the dark roots come in fast & if your hair is naturally dark, your completion will get washed out with the whole head in an ash blond, You can also do peek-a-boo foils in the interior of the hair in panels which are away from the part & hair line so you do not see roots for a long time.

Have you used a 50 volume developer in your hair?

No !! Don’t do it yourself either!I once worked for a man that drank alcohol all day while doing hair. This was many yrs ago, salons had 130 volume developers & we diluted ours to make the strength needed. So one day my boss was so wasted that he didn’t realize wtf he was doing while mixing up his chemicals, didn’t check his H2O2 vol strength afterwards & proceeded to color the client he had in the chair with 80 vol developer!!! It was only 3 seconds before she was flipping out. Her scalp was burning, she was crying & screaming, the next day scalp was bleeding . Poor thing, very painful that strength! I remember ruining many of my clothes by just getting a tiny drop of that 130 on myself while diluting, burned holes right through my clothes! But it only took one time to never ever mix up again without gloves on..hands & fingers were painfully burned.

What color does mixing pink and blue make?

There is a fairly wide range of what is considered pink, and it seems to be changing. In the upper left is “hot pink”, otherwise known as magenta. Bottom right is “tint of red” pink, which has the hue of red, but has white mixed in. (this seems to be what most people usually meant by the word “pink” when I was younger) The other two (upper right and lower left) are in between, and are the colors used by every single freaking toy marketed to little girls. (*)Mixing magenta and blue will produce a rich purple.Mixing “tint of red” pink with blue would something like the below, which is paler and redder. (and many people would consider it a shade of pink in itself)Of course it depends on how you are doing the mixing. You’ll get different results when mixing opaque paints, translucent inks (such as printed on white paper), colored lights, or RGB values in a paint program on a computer. I’m mostly talking about the last one.* my daughter’s favorite color is in that range as well. Not sure the causal relationship there….

How long should I wait before bleaching my hair again?

Since I have no idea the condition of your hair, I can't answer that exactly. Technically, you can bleach your hair more than once in a day. It's not something I would really recommend to someone doing their hair at home. Only because I would feel terrible if they fried their hair and it became mushy or broke off.If you're just going to do this at home, and I can't talk you into seeing your stylist, please be careful. Watch your hair. Don't just throw in the bleach and watch an episode of Bob’s Burgers. After the initial bleach, wash and condition the hair. Towel dry it gently, don't rub the towel all over the hair, wrap the towel around the hair and squeeze. You don't want to stress the hair more. Examine the color and the integrity of your orange-blonde color. Is it light enough that hair color will be able to do the rest? If yes, do that.Side note: maybe don't just buy a box color. Go to your local beauty supply and have them help you pick out a color and developer. Box color tends to have the strongest level developer and you most likely won't need that.If you will need to bleach again, you must pay attention to your hair. You don't want to end up with cotton candy mush for hair. Hopefully one application of bleach will be enough though. The less stress you put on your hair the better it will be.
