Discouraged After Going Go The Gym

Why do people try to discourage you from going to the gym?

Over the last 8–10 years I experienced that there are two types of people, who try to discourage you.Overweight / Skinny / Weak people, who try to bully you out of training. Any progress you make, or any change into a better appearance is offensive to them, because that makes THEM feel guilty for not working or dieting themselves.People who genuinely want the best for you. For “picking on you” they try to stimulate motivation in you. It is also a test for your character: By making jokes about you, they see who is willing to overcome hurdles. Usually if you continue to go to the gym and ask them for advice, they will help you.Just a quick story: Many family members and friends of mine were (and some still are) strongly against Fitness-training and heavy weightlifting. They don’t know about the huge benefits, that comes with that. Try let them hold you back from working out. Follow people you want to be like.Hope this helps.

Discouraged about college?

Your school counselor is an expert in this field. If he can't help you, see if you can take some tours to colleges near you so you can get a feel for what campus life is like and the typical freshman curriculum.

I don't know what you have against a state college. I attended two before I transferred to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I got in because of my college grade point average. I took my Master's Degree at Butler University, Indianapolis. These are not big 10 school or ivys, but they both have some superior programs. So do the state universities. You need to look into the college where your major will be in and the instructors and professors who teach in your major.

If you can't get into school #1, start at a state university, get your GPA above 3.77 and take on some leadership positions in student groups and volunteer in the community. That should make you into someone who would be welcomed as a transfer student.

As for student loans, everything will be taken into consideration. They will want to see your mother's income tax form. Your brother has nothing to do with whether you qualify. I don't know how your dad fits into this.

Don't pay anyone to make a scholarship search for you. Work through your high school and the college where you want to go to see what's available. Go after everything, even if is $100 from a local business group.

You could start here http://www.scholarships.com/ and see if this is a site with good information. It seems to have all the verifications I would look for.

I would investigate every scholarship on earth. Apparently there are some for red-headed males who are left handed, etc. (actually didn't look for any. LOL)

http://finaid.msu.edu/searches.asp This is an example of what they have about scholarships at one s-t-a-t-e u-n-i-v-e-r-s-i-t-y.

You can take the SAT more than once. I would count on doing that unless you really ace it.

As an aside, keep all your notes as you do this search. You may have to go back to a source that didn't seem so good the first time.

How do I stop getting discouraged and giving up when I don’t get past 10 minutes of working out or generally just not working out long enough?

All of the answers here are good answers. Basically they are telling you to keep at it and you will build up your stamina and endurance. But here is the thing you really have to accept……..you are not going to see visible results in a short amount of time! You really have accept this. Too many people think that they are going to drop 30 pounds in 2 weeks. Or get a 6 pack in 10 days and get discouraged when after a week of grunting and sweating and enduring pain, they see no changes. But be assured that the changes are happening. The changes happen slowly. If you stick with the work AND you have a GOOD DIET, one day when you look in the mirror you will see the results of your efforts. So as the others have said, stay with the program, get stronger and increase your endurance and you will see results. But You have to put in the work!Best of luck!

Intimidated by going to gym?

I'm a skinny guy and I want to start working out to get bigger.. But every time I go to a gym it seems like everybody is a bodybuilder or something..I feel like the smallest guy there, and I could swear they make fun of me behind my back..

Should I try to go during hours when nobody is there, or just tough it out?

Why do people stop going to the gym?

They lose motivation. There are many reasons why people loss motivation…Unrealistic goals, When you started to lift did you think you would be in shape within weeks I know I did. It takes years to build your dream body and when people find this out they drop the gym as it is a lot of hard consistent work. They don’t catch the iron bug. I when i started going to the gym it wasn’t for the love of lifting. But hen I caught the iron page and a workout is something I look forward to. For some people it never becomes something they look forward to.Going to the gym for all the wrong reasons. I started going to the gym because I wanted to be bigger then the girls i was hitting on , This was the wrong reason to start lifting because it doesn’t last. I was lucky and feel in slow with lifting so I continued to lift well after this goal had be achieved.Didn’t make any progress. Lifting is not complex you just need to do the simple thing and you will make progress but a lot people try to over complicate it. People who are new to the gym will see this a try all this weird a wacky workouts and diets and make no progress. Here are a could of ways to keep the motivation high.Keep the end goal in sightHaving a clear image of what you want to look like will really help you get to the gym. You should know what you are aiming for weather that be bulk up, slim down or step out on stage you should no exactly why you are stepping into the gym for.Keep track of your progressThis can work in to ways if you are making great progress you will be motivated by how far you have come and how close you are to reaching your ultimate goal. Or if you have been slacking of you will be able to see that what you are doing is not working and you need to try harder.Reward ProgressThat’s right you can teat yourself just don’t over do it. If you have reached a goal you will have a serge for dopamine (the happy hormone) but sometimes this is not enough so do or have something that you really enjoy as a well done.Set small goalsWhen progress is slow it is a lot harder to bring yourself to the gym. So set yourself milestones to reach. This could be anything that matters to you lose 5lbs, loss or inch round my waist. As you hit these goals you will feel better about yourself and associate the gym with progress. If that fails take 3 scoops of pre workout and don’t sleep for the next week. Pre-workout, Beta Alanine, Alpha-Keto-Glutarate, Taurine, Creatine Monohydrate, Caffeine

Is it better to swim after or before going to the gym?

Well , it is not advisable to go for swimming either before or after even a moderate workout in the gym. The reason is obvious, our body heats up during weight-training (definitely not when you go to the gym and get yourself engaged in taking selfies as many do ) and the temperature is low while swimming. This transition of body’s temperature is not favoured within a short period of time. There may be chances that you won’t feel much stress but it do have a long term effect on our body. Also the pace of learning would be reduced when you go for them consecutively. It can also be seen in terms of energy. How you could you perform well when you are already exhausted ? And this would finally lead you discouraged when you’ll see your friends performing better than you after a certain period of time. The other day happened an incidence in my own college. A boy used to go for gym and them swimming after 15 mins of rest. One day while swimming when he was in the middle of the pool, suddenly he felt unconscious and drowned. Thanks to the instructor who were there to save him.I am not asking you to drop out one thing . Instead I would advise you to go for one thing in the morning and for the other in the evening ( Infact at present, I do the same, swimming in the morning and Gym in the evening ). And if you are too busy, I would recommend you to learn swimming first cause you have a lot time ahead in your life to build up your muscles. Don’t worry.Best of luck for your schedule.

My parents won't let me go to the gym!!?

You can convince them. The reason they are not sending you is, because you are just 15 and gymming is suggested at age 17+ for girls.Your age is the time of growth and bone growth. So that's why they aren't encouraging you.
To get a better shape its best to dance.Go to dance classes or other sports instead. You can go to gym when you turn 17.By that time you stop growing tall.
Believe me,gymming has side effects at that age and thats why I din't go too when I was like 14 or 15.I too dint understand why I was discouraged. But now I am happy that I started going to gym at age 17.

Dance is the best to lose extra pounds.I know a few models who have lost the extra pounds
by dancing hard.
Good Luck

Will going back to the gym after a long break be easier than when I initially started?

I’ve done a bunch of Ironman races and ultra marathoners.Because I am a bit daft I often stop exercising after the 6–9 months of training.Sometimes I’ve drunk too much beer and become portly.I know two things.First, when I start again I do compare myself to the younger stronger me and I do get discouraged. It’s a grind to be going 50% slower.Second, within a couple of weeks I can get a lot of my strength back. I may not be able to go very fast for very long. But I can see the impact of my effort and I can see that I will be able to reach my peaks again. It’s that knowledge that makes it easier, despite the discouraging position I find myself in.Been here, done this. Doing it again is easier.
