Do I Have A Right To Be Depressed

I feel really depressed right before I get my period.?

The fact that you are having suicidal thoughts means that you are not dealing with simple PMS, but PMDD.

I was diagnosed with PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) back in 2003, about a year after the birth of my daughter. After my daughter was born, I had a very severe case of PPD (postpartum depression), and I believe that the PMDD stems from the PPD.

During my PPD days, I was on many antidepressants, some antipsychotic meds, as well as antianxiety meds. They did help, up to a point, and then my medication dosage needed to be increased, eventually leading to a medication switch.

When the PMDD came about, it became even a darker time for me. I was suicidal every month, the desperation was horrible. NONE of the meds I was taking helped my case of PMDD, whereas there are many women who are helped by meds such as Prozac or the generic form of it, Serafem. They did not help me in the least bit. I was hospitalized at one point b/c of the PMDD... as well as once with the PPD.

In October of 2006 I began taking Yaz birth control, which has literally saved my life. I no longer take the other meds, except for an occasional Ativan for anxiety.

Here is an article about my personal experience... I warn you, it's quite intense.

If you by chance have PMDD, don't ever listen to anyone who tells you that it's "just bad PMS." It's NOT just "bad" PMS. PMDD is a highly debilitating condition, and it is definitely real.

Do I have the right to be depressed if my life is better than others?

Only the most intelligent people are depressed at one point or other in their life. The stupid people are generally seen laughing all the time. Stupid people don't have problems. Problems are a privilege of the intelligent. Intelligent people are sad because they have questions, the inability to find the answers to them increases the sadness. The greater the questions the greater the sadness, the more the intelligent a person, the more are his chances to be depressed. Suicides are not attempted by fools, it is done by the most intelligent. The greatest of serial killers, psychopaths, if studied deeply were very very intelligent people. They asked questions so deep they had no answers out of them, out of the sheer frustration they took upon the journey of sadism or masochism to feel happy about themselves.Do not be upset if you're upset, do not be depressed if you're depressed. There is a great road ahead. Cherish your intelligence and find the right answers at the right places. There is an old saying, Happiness gives you wings and Sadness gives you depths.Cheers

Do I have the right to be upset or is my depression making me see things?

As you mentioned you began your relationship with girl A as friends and then you tried to escalate the friendship into a more serious relationship but she turned you down; however you kept being friends and now your new friend (Girl B) is telling you bad stuff about girl A and you are feeling upset because of the new prospective on girl A that you didn’t see before.I’ll give you few steps where you can evaluate the entire situation from your own prospective and then you can conclude if you should talk to girl A to bring you peace of mind:Step #1: Journal about the friendship: Since you have been friends for a long time now, I suggest you to write about the happy and sad memories with your friend (girl A), write about the moments you think she used and notice why did you feel used (and if you liked or disliked)Step #2 Know your true feelings: The previous exercise gave you a big insight about your feelings from a real prospective (is different when you see your true feelings and emotions reflected in paper). Notice the emotional charge you get as you read and if is really bad feeling is time for you to make decisions and let go.Step #3 Make decisions: If you decided that girl A is a really toxic person is time for you to forgive and let go; but if she is the real friend that is there for you when you need her stay loyal to your friendship.Step #4 Communicate: Either case talk to her and let her know the way she made you feel and how you are feeling in the present moment, perhaps she will understand or not your feelings but you are going to find peace and closure about the situation. If you are depressed maybe the condition is exacerbating the situation, but once you follow the steps above, you are going to be in a better and calm state of mind.MINDFULNESS, LOVE & HAPPINESSMonica

Do I have the right to feel depressed even if I'm privileged?

Hello there I have a bachelor in social science majoring psychology, I have also suffered mental illness myself so this is really just an opinion.Yes everyone has the right to feel depressed even there life would be seen as perfect. Depression the illness itself is a chemical imbalance in the brain generally meaning that anyone with it could be privileged or less so.I feel this question was sent in response to me using billy ellish as an example that makes people say they are depressed. Billy her self I believe is depressed (or amazing at acting so), hence why she “relates” to many people however she is showing people that don’t have an identity that is easy to claim “depression” as apart of their identity with out being depressed. Which then takes away the understanding of what actual depression is (Am I just sad (everyone feels this emotion) or and I’m utterly sad that nothing is well in life).
