Do My Parents Need A Foid Card

Do you need a parent signature for a FOID card?

I am 18 and am planing on getting a gun license in illinois but when i looked at the papers to apply it talked about a parent signature. I have asked multiple people at my work and they said it was only for buying a handgun and it is not required but i am not sure. I dont understand why you would need a signature if your 18. Some one please explain to me what this is for and if its required. http://www.isp.state.il.us/docs/6-181.pd...

I'm under 18 and I own a FOID card while my parents do not....?

"Minimum Age Restrictions - Federal law regulates the sale of ammunition to young people. It bars licensed manufacturers or dealers from selling long gun ammunition to anyone who they believe is under age 18. Also they may not sell handgun ammunition to anyone they reasonably believe is under age 21 (18 USC ยง 922(b)(1))."
You may be able to buy ammunition with a parent present (make sure you both have picture ID). I am unsure of the question. Do you have access to a firearm to use? You would have to call Cabelas or Walmart or your local gunshop & ask them what their own policy is, which may be tighter than state law. It may be worth getting a parent their own FOID. I can see no description of a minor buying ammo on his own or an adult buying ammo without an FOID in the Illinois law. You are in a 'Catch 22' situation. Have any adult friends with an FOID?

How old do i have to be to get a foid card?

"im wanting to buy a shotgun or some kind of rifle" tells me that you have no business doing so.

Of course you have to wait until you're 18. Didn't you notice that when you researched this before posting the question here? Well, no, because you didn't bother with that.

Don't believe me? Go ahead and wander into a gun store , fill out that BATF paperwork and see what they say.

This is the kind of post an idiot would put up. Not that I'm implying that YOU are an idiot . . . .

Picture for FOID card...?

Can I use a picture from a digital camera printed onto photo paper like you get at a digital picture printing station at walmart or wolf camera for my FOID? the reason i ask is they don't seem to be quite the same quality/consistancy of a normal photograph. Can i use it anyway?

I am an international student but I would like to get an Illinois State FOID card. How do I do this?

Move to a less fascist nazi state where we issue you a handgun after a 6 month residence.(it might be 90 days, I've forgotten)

Edit; wait? I guess if you moved out of that cesspool.....you probably wouldn't need a gun now would you?

*this is why I don't answer gun questions anymore. Too many knowitalls who think they know but really don't. Citizenship is not a requirement for gun ownership, residence is though.

Never mind.....I forgot, you knowitall.

How to get a FOID card photo size? IL?

How do I get the photo to be 1[1/4] by 1[1/2]?

I was thinking of uploading a photo my computer but I don't know how to edit it smaller.
Wearing prescription glasses in the photo is okay correct?

Do you need a FOID card to buy magazines and stocks?

Hi

From all I can see, you can own everything but the receiver. As you know, you can't get your FOID card without your parent's permission until you are 21. You also can not own any ammo until you get your FOID.

I agree, the laws in your state suck. I don't know where you live in the state. The funny thing is, you could drive over into Missouri and buy any rifle or shotgun with just the federal 4473 form. But then again, Missouri is rated as one of the most free in the country, and Illinois is one of the most repressive of the rights of individuals.

Don't you feel safe walking the streets of Chicago, knowing that the crooks don't have any guns? Right!

I do understand the problem you are having with your parents. A long time ago, we elected a communicator to president, someone to bring the nation together. That person was Carter. My parents were gaga over him, and I of course thought that he was a total loss. Two years after the election, my parents had come to my view and expressed that they wished they had not voted for him. You will have the same experience, but that does not help you now.

As for a little hope for us. Clinton got in, removing a Bush in the process and proceeded to ban guns. The Democrats were out of power for the next twelve years. They remember that, and so are somewhat more hesitant to follow that path again. Obama wants a second term, he knows that he will get the liberal vote no matter what, and so will most likely stay in the middle ground until 2012. By that time, he most likely will not have a house and senate in full democrat control, and may not be able to push through any gun bills. There is some hope.
