Do People Ever Vote On Best Answer Anymore

How come most questions do not have a best answer anymore here?

Because since voting was ended years ago, users lost the ability to gain points from voting, and question askers have never had a high rate of selecting BA. Many just don't care enough to do it, a lot of others simply forget. The 3 pts back don't matter to them, or rewarding a user who gave a thoughtful, helpful answer.

Of course, sometimes there is no 'best' answer (sometimes even no good ones). Level 7s have zero control over a question asker awarding BA. The ONLY thing a level 7 can do, that other users can't, is move questions. There are no other abilities or special powers. They have no better ability to get posts removed than any other user who has had time to build a trust rating, regardless of level.

Some point gaming does occur (user asking and answering a question with 2 or more of their own accounts), or a user giving BA to a 'friend'. One would also assume a level 7 got there by giving good answers, so it's not odd to see them with BAs.

Why can’t I award best answers to people on other an other persons question?

Because it's another person's question. They asked it, so they decide which answer, if any, is best.

Long ago, if a best answer wasn't chosen in a certain period of time, the community was allowed to vote for best answer. That ended due to excessive abuse by people with multiple accounts voting for their own answer.

Why do people vote Republican?

Why do people vote Republican? Because they are rich and want to get richer. They use morality issues to sucker people into their party who will not benefit from their policies. They definitely aren't ignorant, and I wouldn't call almost half of the country evil. But they are selfish. If what you mean by progression is moving toward a more egalitarian society, they're going to be against it because they don't want to lose their money/power.
